Just to mention that we have an exhibition of old City photos taking place at Worcester Guildhall in the High Street tomorrow, Saturday. It's a free event. Runs from around 9am to midday. More details on the official website.

Hi - the site you are referring to was I think the archive set up by John Baker. Some of the information was taken from the Official History of WCFC book, but that only goes up to 2003 and it was a great resource for more recent stuff. However I think the site has now disappeared, I can only guess that John paid for a limited hosting time and that has now expired.
Similarly the WCFC website has recently been revamped and the statistical information and news archive going back to 2007 has disappeared.
The book referred to above is still available from the Club shop, price £10 plus postage. PM me if you would like a copy.

Perhaps it's just me but I thought it was scrappy yesterday. Yes we worked hard but I thought the penalty decision was a bit fortunate. But it sounds like Carl had a gameplan and it worked.

Needs changing on the fixture list too! And I think there are some apostrophes missing ...

Note to JIIG - it's Gornal, not Gornall as stated on our website!

Bog snorkelling? Is the pitch that bad?
After last year I'm sure Carl and Matt will be determined not to slip up again. I think we're fortunate to get an away draw so close to home. It's not often that we get a lower ranked team from the West Mids area.
Incidentally, we played them when they were known as Lower Gornal Athletic in the FAC in 1965, winning 4-2 at the Lane.

A master class in not playing particularly well but still winning.
Colwyn Bay could have been one or two up before TT scored.
For more than half the game they were down to 10 men, with an outfield player in goal and two defenders on yellow cards.
But I thought they did really well after the sending off and perhaps that shows how competitive our division is this season.
With successive away trips coming up I appreciate how tough it must be playing two games a week and, as has been said, let's be content with the fact that we won.

Apology accepted Andy! Wikipedia isn't always 100% accurate, no idea who wrote the page about Shab. If I have time I'll create an account and edit the entry!

Tony is absolutely right - Shab's first ever goal for City, it's taken 9 years and 154 games! Great performance by him today!

Now call me old fashioned but St. George's Lane has an apostrophe between the e and the s. But yesterday I discovered it was missing from the programme cover and from the logo on the new shirts. I hope somebody can find it again and return it to its rightful place!

Not sure what photos have got to do with badges. But have floated with Rich the idea if doing a photo exhibition in the near future, ideally in town. The idea would be to draw in people that used to visit the Lane and maybe get them to contribute their own memories. If anyone reading this used to take photos at the Lane please get in touch.

Don't think Weir has committed himself to Gloucester yet? This could free up some money and create the opportunity for him on the field to persuade him to sign for City?

For those of you wondering what he's on about, the Hollywood screen legend was born in Bristol and shares the name of this country's most prolific football stadium designer. Leitch built most of the big football stadia in England and Scotland. Most of his work was demolished in the eighties and nineties but examples still exist, most notably the main stands at Rangers and Fulham. Incidentally I believe traces of the old BPA ground still exist.

Its a question of whether Carl and Matt (and I sincerely hope we can keep hold of Matt, he's important in this equation) can build a squad that can finish better than 7th on the same budget.
Don't know where Brookie gets his information about the Board and their decision making from, what he says about gambling on reaching the play-offs has never been said in public as far as I know.
Cutting the wage budget won't save the club.
The gamble this season was more about whether to stick with the playing budget in the knowledge that there was no FAC or FAT income in my opinion.
That will have to be put into the mix again for 12/13 season.
Carl and Matt are ambitious men and I think they will want to improve the squad, particularly as the BSN will be more competitive next season.
In particular they need to find a partner for Symo and I think Morford is a potential candidate - but it all comes down to money.
Releasing DCB, Brown, Smith and Corbett (is he still a City player?) might free up enough money to bring in one striker.
Both full-back positions need sorting I think. We don't need two wingers, Edwards has been ineffective but would be great to keep Millsy.
Weir woukd be great to keep but I guess Hereford will take him back.
Does anyone know if Tom Thornley is in his final year at Uni this year or next? That will have a big bearing on his future.
So I think that - as with this season - there could be 5 or 6 new faces.

The POTY award as I understand it is the Supporters award, so not clear what Rob Elvins won, can someone clarify?

Worth noting that Workington (not Workington Town) still need points to ensure they don't get relegated, they will be safe regardless only if results elsewhere work out in their favour.

Good news - City have made it into this month's edition of 442 magazine. Bad news - The article tells everyone that the chips at SGL are appalling. For more details go to: nonleaguechips.tumblr.com/Fair comment?

This is as good as it's been for a long time, let's hope we can get a good gate again on Saturday, I don't mind if we play poorly in front a decent crowd and scrape a 1-0 win.
Managers and players may want to take it one game at a time but we're fans! I think it comes down to winning all our remaining home games and winning at either Nuneaton or Gainsborough. A big ask but not impossible on current form.

If I was a Stalybridge fan I'd be really pleased with my team's performance. If you're not winning then coming to Worcester and avoiding defeat is job done. On another day Michael Taylor would have scored at least one of those two second half chances and we would have won. It looked as if one goal would decide it and I can only remember them having one effort on target. Pity we pumped too many high balls into the box as their keeper was going to take those all afternoon long.

Isn't it great that for the first time in a long while we're at the start of March and are looking at the top of the table instead of worrying about relegation?
It may have been a canny move on Carl's part to introduce fresh faces in January, what usually happens around this time of year is that players get tired, injuries kick in and we end up having a poor run-in. Maybe not this year though. Monday night certainly is a key game.

The goals from the games against Chippenham would have been shown on the BBC but I didn't know that a full match video of either game existed so would be interested to find out more!
Similarly I didn't know that a video of the Accrington replay existed. If it did then I can't believe it didn't get put on sale in the Club shop at the time.
Most of Andrew's videos are his own clips that he took on his phone or camera I believe.
There used to be a lot of VHS recordings from the nineties and noughties - last seen I think in the stewards' portakabin when the club shop was cleared out, I don't know if they're still around but may have included footage from the FAC games against Belper and Rushden in 2001.

Tim - I only met your mum properly last year, we had a good chat about my family as, like her, they were from Hallow - I was really touched that she could remember my dad and his brothers and sisters, all now long since gone. She most certainly was a true supporter, 55 years is indeed something to be proud of.

Pretty sure there were no defenders on the line when Mike Symons headed in, I can only guess he was offside. I thought Histon did pretty, nobody has mentioned their comedy goalkeeper...

I couldn't work out what points Creaner and Brooksider were trying to make in their most recent posts but in reply to Canalender don't expect anything to happen at NW for some while yet.

Canalender's point is well made. Let's see what the WN has to say about it in tomorrow's edition, I would imagine it will feature in their editorial.

It's a major application so expect it to last an hour. Just go in through the main Guildhall front door and the meeting is in the main hall. Public seating on the right as you enter. Worcester news will be updating on Twitter if you want to follow progress as it happens.
