Now call me old fashioned but St. George's Lane has an apostrophe between the e and the s. But yesterday I discovered it was missing from the programme cover and from the logo on the new shirts. I hope somebody can find it again and return it to its rightful place!

Nothing old-fashioned at all about insisting on the correct usage of the English language.

except of course it is taken from French, and only brought into English language in the 16th century, and used in place of vowels where the vowel wasn't sounded. George Bernard Shaw called them uncouth bacilli! - a lot of interesting reading on the subject in Bill Bryson's Troublesome Words

I think this is one of those issues where everyone is right!
I assume that the name should be "Saint George's Lane North" as in "the lane of the Church of Saint George"? the possessive apostrophe I am reliably informed! Councils across the country do not like apostrophes in street names for whatever reasonand try and eliminate them from official listings, etc.
I have seen a similar debate here - Scotland's most famous thoroughfare is "Princes Street" - no apostrophe - but if used it would have to be "Princes' Street" as it was named after the two sons of George III. Thankfully the Georgian city planners kept all the names simple "George Street", "Frederick Street", "St Andrew Square" - no "s" other than for the plural.

Unless there's a reason for it then the checking process of the new home kits with the writing on obviously were not checked correctly before the things were ordered and printed !!
The website and programme are easily corrected but X amount of home shirts are not !!

There has been a similar and long-running debate in Newcastle until the ground was re-named (as per Brooksider's suggestion!) to the First Direct Arena. The ground is commonly spelt as "St James' Park" but there are equally strong claims that it should be "St James Park" or "St James’s Park". At least in this case it is solely a matter for the club to decide.

Just wont be an issue for long, will it? Perhaps we can have a debate on the origins of our new home at Aggborough.Just makes no sense to see City playing at the home of our closest rivals as I hated going there for away games.Am I right in saying that way back there used to be a cycle track around the pitch?

Yes you are right about the cycle track - Villa Park even had one but much, much longer ago - must have been the "thing" to have!

Well Nunnery Way can go one better. That has a cycle, walking and horse track through the middle of the pitch - beat that Villa and Kiddy!
