Poor performance. But we battled until the very end and so deserved a point.

Along with everyone else, I think this is a great idea. I have no problem with getting other season ticket holders in for a fiver. Well done to all those involved. HOWEVER! The pessimist in me is reminded of other occasions when we try to get a bumper crowd and the performance of the team hits rock bottom, thus causing the new fans to decide gardening is a better option on a Saturday BUT this time it WILL be different! We will win and they WILL come back!

It's been shown before that segregation causes trouble. Can't remember the opponents(not Wimbledon), but our "brave" youthful followers running towards the Canal End shouting abuse and giving obscene hand gestures, knowing that the opposition were safely behind the fence. The whole game was a constant barrage of foul language and BS. Segregation lets the idiots feel safe in handing out verbal abuse.
If the supporters were not segregated, these "fans" wouldn't have had the bottle to say a word and the chance of any trouble would have been miniscule.

Yes. That's when I saw there were only 6 teams in it. It always seemed ridiculous that we used to enter in the semi-final stage in February. (Like Kiddy and Stourbridge this year). Let's just get it out of the way next year , pre-season.

Seeing as there are only 6 teams in it and the attendances are so low. Wouldn't it be worth next year, trying to get it as a pre-season tournament. Mix in a couple of other friendlies and maybe make a bit more money. Seeing as it is made up of local derbies, the clubs make more money and the WSC is seen as more than a mid-season obligation!
Or won't the powers that be allow it?

I'm also more tied up with the Lafayette bar and grill murders, which is a far more fascinating story. I don't know if you've seen this website but it's got some great stuff on it. graphicwitness.com/carter/index.html

Great news for them and I am so happy for them. It's so great how far they have come and just shows what true fans can do when they want something enough.
Now all I want is them to overtake MK Dons!!!!!

Numbers have dropped in the second half of the season, that roar the cheered the players along in the early games has totally disappeared, to be replaced by the miserable old moaners in the Main Stand. If the supporters don't back the team then how can they expect the team to have the morale to perform well? It's no surprise that our better performances were away from home. Recent performances (home and away) have been dire. Are players these days so precious, that if they don't get constant cheering and praise (even when they are playing crap and not showing much enthusiasm) they get too upset to try harder? You can only audibly cheer a team on for so long, before apathy sets in. If the players are still giving 100% but the results go against us,then yes, keep cheering them on. But the lacklustre performances of late, do not deserve praise. I don't agree with booing them, but "moaning" to the fan next to you is not a problem in my opinion.

I don't know/care what happened between them, but I am glad that Danks has left. He is a selfish striker, which can be a good thing, but unfortunately he doesn't have enough skill and its so frustrating seeing the few chances we make, get wasted.
At least now we can give other players an opportunity. As was said above, we need team players.

No egg on face if the match ref calls it off even 5 minutes before the game starts or even at half time. That dicision had nothing to do with the pitch The pitch was waterlogged before the Alfreton team started their journey. Therefore why bother letting them travel?

Post by zeke on Feb 26, 2011 21:40:22 GMT
Why would there be egg on face if the match ref called it off? your saying that the match was called off by the club becuase they were worried that the match ref might make the wrong dicision in your opinion? sod the fans then, some of us can only get to Saturday games. And apart from one little shower it was dry most of the day as forecast. If they waited for the ref, then the Alfreton coach would already be on it's way and just like the Workington game, everyone who traveled down, would be pissed off and the club would have to pay Alfreton's travel costs. As the pitch was already waterlogged and more rain DID fall before kick-off, the ref would have called the game off, hence the egg/face scenario
