In his post-match interview following today's game Carl Heeley confirmed that he had met Mark Danks on Thursday and that there had been an amicable parting of the ways. He will not play for us again.
So that's it then: what a waste of a talent.
The only plus side is that he never was a team player; he played for himself, and if we are to build a real team next season we only want team players.

Big shame
Heeley's comments earlier in the week suggested there was a chance that differences could be resolved
Wonder whether Danks' head has already been turned by another club for next season?

That is certainly one explanation for the sudden departure; he may have been looking for an excuse to break his contract.

I don't know/care what happened between them, but I am glad that Danks has left. He is a selfish striker, which can be a good thing, but unfortunately he doesn't have enough skill and its so frustrating seeing the few chances we make, get wasted.
At least now we can give other players an opportunity. As was said above, we need team players.

Yet you didn't moan when he smashed them into the net!!!
Danksy knows he hasn't had one of his best ever seasons, alot of people will change their tune when he moves onto another team and yet again bangs in 20 goals.
He will be missed because with him, Danny and Si Richman flying at the defences of teams in this league with their pace we had teams worried, if Danksy had his confidence and was scoring goals no doubt about it we would of finished in the top 10 and got further in the FA Trophy.
What's interesting to see is that Danksy was probably one of the top earners (if not the top earner) because he was our biggest signing at the time in the summer, its now upto Carl and Mark to go out and pluck a player out from maybe a lower league who has the same pedigree who will cost less in wages and build a good squad that can further take us towards the play offs next season.
I think a look at Acram from Evesham would be worth a punt and if we get rid of Macca (hopefully not) then take a look at the lanky tart who plays up top for Solihull, he caused us no end of problems in both games against us this season.
Good Luck in the future Mark....and thank you !!

Danksy with confidence - one of the best at this level, a shame he's left like this

I wouldn't worry about signing a replacement, quality player. I am "between clubs", and my talents will be on show in the Big Match. Carl take note.

It was quite evident that Danks was not at all happy at the club. When he was on the substitues bench he never mixed with the other players who were subs. He always took himself off to the other side of the pitch away from them in the gamed played lately.

Did he?? Bugger Missed that boat....not suprised to be honest as he would fit into that club perfectly.
Maybe this is why the Moors promotion push waded in recent months.

Promotion push waded because our squad was not big enough and too many players playing with little knocks. The departure of Cunnington did not harm us as much as you would think. In the nine games immediately after his departure, we won seven and drew two, scoring 23 goals.

Solihull did well with injuries until very late on, unlike ourselves. They replaced Cunnington with Matt Smith who did very well. There is no reason why with a fully fit squad and a bit more consistency we couldn't do a Solihull next season.

Mark Danks has now signed for Hednesford. Here's an extract from the Non-League Daily item:-
"Rob Smith, manager of Evo-Stik League Premier Division side Hednesford Town, has pulled off another transfer coup bringing former striker Mark Danks back to Keys Park.
Danks, now 27, was a prolific striker for the Pitmen in the excellent FA Trophy winning season of 2003-2004, scoring 24 goals in 44 appearances.
Since his days at Keys Park Danksy has been performing at Conference North Level having productive spells with Northwich Victoria, AFC Telford United and most recently Worcester City."

His latest move is from Hednesford to Stourbridge, so he could well be playing against us when we play them away in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

Oversaw a conversation he was having with someone online and apparently he had looked at coming back to us ?? not sure about the amount of truth in that, dont think we would need him anyway with our current crop of players
