Danny says he wants to stay..puts to bed the rumors coming out of Tamworth...we have a great strike force if things stay as they are !

I also read the piece in the WN. Seems he was travelling with Simon Richman (now gone to Altrincham of course), so perhaps travelling expenses is an issue?
Seems there is no truth in the Tamworth rumour anyway.

Nope didn't think there was much truth in it as most of their fans on their message board didn't have a clue and got it from the same source we all did !!
Still hasn't signed the contract yet so still isn't nailed on but it's encouraging that he says he wants to stay.

The source was just from a Tamworth fan on twitter who messaged Non League review and Non League show. nothing more than that and was never confirmed - thankfully looking untrue

Don't threaten that or he'll definitely sign for Tamworth!

Bye Bye Danny, Officially signed for Nuneaton Town...will make our games even more interesting when we play them next season

A guarantee of a 2 year contract and more money seems to be the determining factor. Seems travelling wasn't such a concern afer all as he will be going just as far to Nuneaton. About 70 miles each way for both. Completed whilst the boss is on holiday too. Bet that made Carl's honeymoon!

I am really disappointed about that: I thought we had the makings of a good forward line. Still, the lad's got to look after himself and at least he'll still be playing in blue and white stripes at home!
Best of luck Danny, but I hope we beat the pants off Nuneaton when we next meet.

Well I've spoken to a lot of City fans and seen comments on various sites and they use the word 'Judas' quite frequently.
I don't think he would ever of signed, he was holding out for the best deal possible for him and his dad had a say in it too no doubt.
Carl will look at the fact he signed Danny when nobody would take him on, and he might of hoped a little bit of loyalty would be shown, Carl knew chances are he would go and no doubt Carl has someone in mind to replace him.
I believe he was offered more money and a years contract, maybe Nuneaton have a lot more to spend than we do especially as they were able to offer him a two year deal.
Good luck to him, let's hope he doesn't score against us and celebrate else The Lane could be explosive that day.
Although I should mention that late Wednesday night Danny wrote on Facebook 'Just made the hardest decision of my career so far' maybe he does leave with a heavy heart...but who really knows apart from the player himself.

Think Carl was expecting him to go so should have some money to use?

I've only just twigged that he's gone to Nuneaton - and that's where Graham Ward went, so no doubt Graham had a hand in advising them he was unsettled.
Thanks Graham.

Glover must have been a sought after player, given his goals tally last season
You have to feel for Carl. Intent was to build on the strong foundation and improve for next season. Right now, it's hard to see the squad looking stronger (....maybe less strong).
And I still worry the defence is a potential weak spot. Ryan Clarke aside - there's not an outstanding amount of quality and reliability in there

A palliative for the bitter pill has been found, in that we have signed Simon Brown from Mansfield. We now seem to have a lot of forwards and few defenders.

Dont forget we have Shab back this season..hopefully ?? and weve got Jacob Rowe.
I think the squad looks brilliant.
Those on trial ive put a star next to.
Dormand Sandercombe * Coleman *
Khan * Clarke Rowe Elvins
Birley * Thorley O'Connor Brown Edwards Walker ? Evans Cartwright
Corbett Symons Macca 1 New Striker if talks are successfull
So im in agreement we need 2 defenders at least and then the squad is done and dusted apart from maybe a few loanees that Carl might want to bring in !!

Anyone know what the situation is with some of the younger players
Kyonn Evans, Quaynor, Bottomer etc

I dont, Rob. Nothing seems to have been said in the press. The latest mention was in mid-May when WN reported Carl was due to hold talks with Evans and Quaynor.
Carl had said in the Standard a couple of weeks back that the squad size would be about 17-18.
We already have 13 signed (six staying and seven new signings). If there are 4-5 places remaining, then 1. We are going with two 'keepers this year (with Sandercombe and Coleman invited to pre-season) 2. Shabir Khan (with fitness issues being key) 3. Gavin Hurren (pre-season after a knee-op, while Carl has also said he in interested in signing a defensive/holding midfielder. Gary Walker's position has been talked about in the press) 4. Marc McGregor (possible decision to be made there pre-season) 5. Matt Birley (doing pre-season?)
I cant see all of those being the final 4-5 to make up to a final total of 17-18, unless Ryan Clark is going to play right-back, Neil Cartwright drops back, or we play just three at the back.
So, if it is to be 17-18, then not easy to see where the headroom might be in that size squad for Evans, Quaynor ... . Cartwright and Brown both play right side of midfield of course, as do Edwards (and Birley) on the left.

Add Josh Emery to that list as I've read he has come back to us.
Quaynor isn't upto standard I'm afraid, bottomed would be a fantastic addition but you get the feeling he would of been snapped up by a bigger club.
As far as I was aware Evans is already signed up.
The only one we are waiting for an answer from is Gary Walker, he has said he wants first team football, don't be surprised if he moves to Redditch as that's where he I'd based.
Carl says that's what the squad size would be but if he has plenty of budget to spend he will no doubt bring another player or two in if the deal is right.

Congrats on putting the phrases 'Plenty of budget' and Worcester City together - hasnt happened recently! ;-)
Fair enough if you've read that about Emery, but I havent seen it anywhere in WN, Standard or H&W. Latest media reports are that we have 13 players signed (Dormand, Clark, Elvins, Charlton, Rowe, Edwards, O'Connor, Thorley, Cartwright, Brown, Symons, Carey-Bertram and Corbett).
It has to be noted that eight have come in (including the Assistant Manager, Matt Gardiner) with five going out (Ward, Clyde, Richman, Danks and Glover). Key question therefore is whether that is good dealings within the wage bill, or is at the expense of some of last year's younger 'fringe' players (who actually ended up playing a lot due to spate of injuries). Of course, a rhetorical question, as it wont be answered directly. Can only tell by eventual squad make-up.
Answers still outstanding over a number of players from last year - as discussed above, to be resolved during pre-season - no doubt with other triallists trying to break-in. And, as stated, an expressed desire from Carl for a defensive/holding midfielder (which could be Hurren, who isnt in your list along with Charlton. Nor is Emery, by the way).
Of course, with pre-season, triallists, the rash of early league games, possible fitness issues over at least 3 players from last year (Shabs, Macca, Hurren), the squad size may be a lot larger during August/September before possibily settling down later in the season.
Carl had also said that he wants to keep some headroom in the budget for loan players, which again may be at the expense of fringe younger players, unless they are keen to be involved with the Club for not much on the wage bill.
Will be interesting to see if Ryan Clark shifts to right-back, and who gives cover in that position (with Cartwright looking to play more offensively). This may be an area of squad strengthening.

Danny Glover scored in added time on Saturday to earn Nunnie a 2-2 draw with Coventry.
