The attendance was definitely more than 11k...even the Sheff Utd fans have said that on their forum, it appears they havent accounted/factored in all the ST holders who got in free somehow. The ground looked more half full so around 15k. Not much to add regards the game as i echo the majority on here, Geddes and Hughes missing were a huge loss to our goal threat and creative and movement side of things, and i think that made us try to play a more containing type game rather than the more up tempo pressing and zipping the ball around we did vs Gateshead and during last years run. We did show a few flashes of it and it did rattle their cages somewhat as Campbell Ryce aside with a couple of others their side wasnt blessed with that much pace. So i say we dust ourselves down, look forwards to Hughes and Geddes returning, push up the league to safer climes and lets see if we have a run in the Trophy

Haha the R5 presenter asking her the questions came out with the pearler 'your son scored the winning goal at Coventry last season didnt he?' She said 'yes'! Probably being polite lol Or....did we miss a 3rd goal in all our excitement and tension of the hours worth of injury time?

Here I am-Ticket safely in possession, seat booked on Supporters bus & colleague covering Saturday work and I now have the gout and am very unlikely to go. Apart from the away replay at Lincoln a couple of years ago it is the first FA Cup tie I have missed since a 3rd(I think)Qualifying round tie against Cirencester in 2000. Including trips to Stamford, St. Blazey, Barnstaple, Holbeach, Godalming(!!!),Hampton and Richmond(also !!!),Belper, Hemel,Sutton Coldfield, Gornal,Bromley, Weston SM etc etc. Gutted doesn't even come close. Best of luck to the lads and I hope everyone has a great day Thats gutting!

Totally proud.. When we won at Gateshead and all the players came over to celebrate with us it was pretty emotional..if we can raise our game another notch up from that tomorrow then Sheffield United could be in for a shock!

Last year we were being called a 'tinpot club' on the Coventry and Scunny forums as i recall, so where does 'pub team' fit on the sliding scale of things hmm? Pub teams still have their own changing rooms and pitch so maybe they're still being very charitable in their estimations of us!

Well, the big day is nearing and we've all been buzzing about this tie for a couple of weeks.. One of their main fans forums has been paying attention to us and some of their goodly fans have an idea about doing a fan loop feedback between the two forums which i think sounds a really good craic!! Here's one of the threads they've been talking about us on to kick it off with... www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/pre-match-view-from-worcester.42869/

A tad too late for that now Archie blimey, ive been traumatized for 25 years now since! Or is that the years of following the City? Anyway, youve now put to rest why i suffered a stunted growth and was the shortest kid in my year at school and why my hairs now decided to start falling out in my 30s! The webbed feet was just a vicious rumour honest! Pheww Back to topic ahem..any ideas when and where the tickets will be on sale? Im guessing the tourist information office/guild hall again.

Uggghh you've just given me a horrible thought Archie! :S I used to mess around behind the Brookside as a kid with mates from school during holidays and stuff as there was a huge ropeswing there...anyway, the one day (you can guess whats coming) i dared to take the full running jump at said rope swing and like Tarzan i went across the one way alright but then swinging back i slipped and went 'splodge!' Into the brook...i can only describe what appeared out of there as umm a swampy mess thing... Now i realise what contributed to that sludge for god knows how many years before it!

Well we took what was it, 2600 ish to Scunny last season? So on that reckoning, no disrespect to Scunny (lovely fans, i went and caught up with them at a game at Notts Cty the end of last season) but Sheffield United are more alluring in many senses so surely the same crowd plus more would fancy going?? Two tiers open, one full and the other half full (i'm not being greedy) would be absolutely brilliant!

I was always told over 20k - hundreds climbed over from the canal, plus tax avoidance would have pushed the official numbers down.[/quote ] Ahhah yes that figures! The Canal End wouldve been the prime choice for young scallywags eager to get in! That one corner went back a long way over by the brookside, i can remember it being all clear when i first started watching City games c1987 before it gradually became overgrown to the end. And of course the dear old Brookside Stand was still open, all creaky and ricketty...imagining that packed to the rafters is pretty frightening with todays health and safety standards anorl!

Those are the official attendance figures for the 1959 run - the actual figures were MUCH higher. Millwall 2nd round 12525 Liverpool R3 15111 Sheff Utd R4 17042 How much higher do you reckon they were Archie?? 20k? Mind boggling just thinking about it

Yup.. The season before the Liverpool and Sheff Utd games. We drew 0-0 vs Aldershot away in the 1st Round on the 16th Nov 1957 in front of 8520, then 5 days later on the 21st, the replay at St Georges Lane there was a crowd of 10887 to witness a 2-2 draw... Then on the 25th the second replay was staged at St Andrews which we lost 3-2 in front of 22926!
How come the second replay was chosen at St Andrews and it didnt go back down to Aldershot just out of curiosity?

True.. Potentially double the crowd that was at the Ricoh so the atmosphere will be greater overall...if we can topple the feeling in that away end that day it will be incredible!

Yes, apologies, just seen them.. Bristol Rovers VS Chesham United Brackley Town VS Newport County AFC Aldershot Town VS Bradford City FC Halifax Town VS Wycombe Wanderers Gainsborough Trinity VS Shrewsbury Town Maidstone United VS Yeovil Town Braintree Town VS Oxford United Port Vale VS Maidenhead United I overlooked Aldershot Bradford (forgot Aldershot dropped back into the Conf) but thats fair enough after last years exploits by the Bantams. I suppose because we got two bites of the 'Sunday cherry' last year they wanted to spread the choice around a bit more....they were probably all going 'oh no, not that Worcester mob again!'

So we know 1 of the 8 was Alty vs Barnsley... The other 7..... Probably any from : Crewe vs Eastleigh Brackley vs Newport Millwall vs Fylde Halifax vs Wycombe Gainsboro vs Shrewsbury Maidstone vs Yeovil Braintree vs Oxford Wealdstone vs Colchester Whilst theyre all potential upsets and decent ties, and i'll try and take off my blue and white hat and tinted spectacles here... Sheffield Utd vs Worcester City is the real david vs goliath tie of the round that has some romantic nostalgia going on in it! I wouldnt say no to a replay though

Got a feeling in my waters we'll get a home draw!! *fingers crossed, everything crossed*
The bbc darlings this year will of course be Salford City and FC United....better to be under the radar a bit anyway.

What a day, still on cloud nine and will be till the next round and on the edge of my seat for the draw tomorrow night!
The FA Cup is the most magical thing in football through these early rounds to about the 5th round before the big boys ruin the party somewhat...yesterday it felt like a 'magic switch' had been turned back on and last season coming back to life, and certainly last sundays game vs Nuneaton like a hundred million light years away!
The Gateshead manager, Malcolm Crosby mustve been following our coach back because when we stopped at the services for a grub-up he walked in a few seconds after us and he shook our hands and complimented us on our performance and good luck for the next round. He was going back to Oxford so that would be a 300 mile trip, that surely cannot be ideal for managing a club week in week out so maybe that's taking its toll on their form and why things aren't so rosy in their camp.
The Gateshead tv highlights are also up and give an opposite view/angle from what we could see...
Some of our football was 'goosebumps' at times and Geddes and Burton were at the heartbeat of a lot of it with Nti and Gater tireless and making it dynamic, Deeney back to doing what he does best breaking up their play, spreading the ball about for attacks to start off and helping the defence out which hardly put a foot wrong all afternoon!

Some silly goose has also posted this incident where Nti caught a flying finger or two in his eye and headed it up as a load of 'theatrics' you'll ever see!

Absolutely disgusting refereeing that second half...i'll go further and say it was scandalous...the amount of times their players were holding shirts or grabbing our players when we tried to set up attacks and he did nothing!! Farcical penalty decision...and then the Nti incident when he was blocked off from making an attack into their area down the right side, that was what led to Geddes frustrations and his sending off.
I was told that in the walk off at HT the Nuneaton manager was in the referees ear and 'bullied' him into that absolute pathetic, wimpish cop out of a second half display...up till HT I did actually enjoy the game as we were quite neat, composed and looked solid at the back restricting them to shots from way outside the box, a pity we're missing Lee Hughes for 4 games because his potency would've given us that extra edge today.

*holds hand up* Im a historic shareholder still...it was back in the early 90s when i received mine on behalf of an oldish gentleman, Ian his name was, he brought shares for a quite a few people as he wasnt allowed to have the amount he desired all to his name. I was about 13/14 at the time so wasnt fully aware of what they were all about or obviously that 20+ years on they could be crucial to WCFCs future. I receieved a 100 shares i think and had a certificate for them but unfortunately ive lost it even though i thought id put it somewhere safe for future documentation/reference. If i can be of any help with them then i will gladly transfer them over to be put to use in seeing the City come back home!
