Player of the Season - Lee Hughes Young Player of the Year - Sam Minihan Managers Player of the Year - Tom Sharpe Players Player of the Year - Sam Minihan Sponsors Player of the Year - Alex Gudger Goal of the Season - Conor Gater (vs Corby)
For a season in which we spent either in, or close to, the relegation zone, that's an awful lot of 'Player of the Season' awards.
Also Minihan, what am I missing here?
What you are missing dcx (where have you been?) is no-one, no-one, has worked harder or put in more effort than Sam this year, a young player in his first season at this level. As is proved by the recognition from his fellow players old and young. He is still learning of course sometimes he gets caught out but he will continue to improve he's great going forward and he's has a great first season, I think he is a real find and I do hope we can keep him for next year.
Something occured to me last night but not until after the meeting.
I am pretty sure that the proposal for supporter ownership has been talked about at gatherings like last nights on numerous occasions going back a number of years. In just a few minutes last night we had a show of hands and made the decision to formally push for the change in the constitution to allow it to happen. What confuses me is if we did it so quickly and easily last night why did that show of hands not happen ages ago?
While we are in exile, hasn't the brief been to keep us in this league and make some money out of cup runs if possible? Whilst I am as disappointed as anyone else about the way the season has finished it has to be said that mission has been accomplished.
"I DO NOT agree with Lord Ealing about The Bromsgrove Chairman regarding the demise of the WCFC bar, ( as far as I'm aware it was a run as a separate entity to WCFC ) & that was a historical fault of 'The Club'. Jon was am employee of the company, not the owner & was therefore responsible to his employers. Any blame should therefore be aimed at them."
That's fair enough Jimbo. Believe it or not I am looking to the future, and I believe with people like Jem; Creaner; Rich Widd etc behind the scenes there is hope.
However, we shouldn't forget the past. Prescott was part of the cabal that led to the disastrous sale of SGL. He might only have been "an employee" but that didn't stop him toasting the sale in champagne with the other clowns when the deal was done. Also I can't remember him raising his head above the parapet and questioning the likes of Boddy; Hallmark; Lancaster and Brown.
Perhaps some support for the "troublemakers" could have redeemed him - but he stayed silent.
And since the debacle have we heard any words of remorse? No. Not from him nor the other guilty parties. Shameful.
I like the idea of us going to Bromsgrove for what I hope is a short stay. However, the idea of Big Jon being their irks me.
I'd agree that his defenders didn't track back well, but he parried the ball more forwards than it was to the side. If he had pushed it another yard or two to the right of goal, it would almost certainly have just ended as a goal kick or corner.
Why is this thread under the heading "v Boston (h)"? Someone must have been having a bad day if they didn't even know who we were playing!
Another very disappointing game, but Lee Hughes, not for the first time this season, played his "get out of jail card" again. I was delighted to get a point against an Alfreton side who's sole game plan seemed to be to hoof the ball up in the air, a game which never suits us.
I don't know why Mr D'Aguilar (the ref last night) comes in for so much stick: he got an awful lot right last night.
Tim, I tend to pretty much agree with the views you post on here but in this case I have to wonder if you were actually at a game in which Boston were playing. The referee at the City game last night was worse than useless, as he usually is.
I know you can't please everyone but I have already discussed the possibility of Bromsgrove with someone at work who has been a regular at Aggborough with his Sons ever since the Coventry FA Cup game. He wasn't keen on the prospect of having to get a bus from the railway station to the ground. I believe this will be the case at Bromsgrove.
I wonder how many other casual supporters will feel the same?
Developers are now also looking at the land between the Nunnery Way development and Whittington Village, presently occupied by a few cows. 300 houses being proposed at the moment.
THE city council's new leader says Worcester City FC should never have been offered Perdiswell Park as an option for a stadium - attacking the Labour Party for allowing it to happen.
Councillor Marc Bayliss has told your Worcester News he believes there are "lots of pieces of land" potentially available elsewhere which could prove more suitable.
That's fine but who is going to pay for the planning application for one of these plots of land. All our money has gone on the Perdiswell scheme.
It's all well and good Mr Bayliss saying the Council are looking at options, just in case Perdiswell fails but to quote Rob Crean at the recent meeting at the Whitehouse Hotel "all our eggs are in one basket because we only have one basket". So, even if an alternative site were found we don't have the money to put in a planning application for it. Basically then, if Perdiswell fails, were shafted.
Silly of me at my age to think that these matters would simply run their course. I guess it's inevitable that people's personal agendas will come in to play.........but it's just not right. There must be something that can be done to push this issue forward so that it HAS to be given a fair chance In the planning process?
I know it's way past New Years Day now Niels but is there any chance that at the next home game you could play something by the Eagles to remrmber Glen Frey who sadly passed away yesterday? Personally his death has hit me harder than the death of Bowie
Yes the performance was poor and yes Ellis among others had a shocker but mostly I think he does just fine. Now is not the time to shout abuse and point fingers (although we all have an opinion). Now is the time to show support and become the twelfth man.
I don't understand why, if the council don't want the stadium at Perdiswell, they don't just reject the application. They have the power to do this so why would they sit on it and hope it goes away?
Even though the wind seemed to make it difficult for us to get the ball out of our half in the second 45 minute spell, I don't think Gainsborough actually managed to create a single serious effort. Certainly not a serious effort that was on target.
