As they play on Spalding's ground and Spalding crashed out of the Vase last Saturday I assume this will take place on the Saturday 12th, rather than the Sunday? Spalding's website shows no home game on 12th.

Colby Bishop scored the winner (and only goal of the game) AGAIN for Accrington last Saturday. He must have come on a bit since he was with us: or did we not appreciate him enough?

I find the hypocrisy in what he says quite startling: hockey is fine, football is not, simple as that. There's clear similarities between the two cases and yet it's utterly denied by Councillor Stephen.

So, for one jab in the referee's chest Dan Jezeph gets a 150-day ban, whilst slapping the ball out of his hand (which could be classified as an assault) merits sin-binning only; where's the justice in that?

I thought the red card was harsh - that is until I saw the photo in the Worcester News: looks as if the ref had it right after all.
Sublime goal from Sean Brain, but with the sending off we had to survive 50 minutes under the cosh, which was not enjoyable viewing: I thought the defence worked like Trojans and fully deserved the clean sheet. Plenty of gutsy play from everyone.
Highgate are not my favourite team though: plenty of play-acting as per usual.

Long distance job that: couldn't have been much worse geographically.

I was never sure about Special K, but he did have one outstanding game for us (can't remember who that was against) when he was really "on song" and I hoped that was a harbinger of things to come.

I know it was a really hot afternoon but I found the whole match boring: many more like this and I'll find something better to do.

I only saw it on the red button, but I thought we went out with a whimper.
I agree with the comments about Steve Goode forecasting an easy win: as for 5-0 that was never going to happen and I can't understand why he said it. Ridiculous!

Three ex-City players on the scoresheet on Saturday: Colby Bishop scored his 1st goal for Accrington, Symmo scored the winner for Hereford at Blyth and Dave Reynolds scored Evesham's only goal.

Chris Withington was MOM for me: wonderful defence-splitting pass for the first goal, several vital interceptions in midfield. Never stopped running. Thank goodness the woeful start didn't count for much in the end. I'm waiting to see our defence when Craig Jones plays.

Chris Withington was also my man of the match, with a 100% performance. It was a hard-earned three points and whilst we still look a bit of a work in progress it was heartening to watch. I was impressed by Aaron Birch too.
I didn't see any penalty shouts from the opposition which convinced me and neither, obviously, did they convince the ref.

Likewise: though I don't like our midweek fixtures being on a Wednesday. Monday or Tuesday suited me fine. I have other another commitment on Wednesday, which I have had to forego to see City. It'd better be worth it!

I like the idea, but it's an extra problem for referees and linesmen to take into account. I can see sin-binned players yelling at the ref or lino that their ten minutes is up and getting another ten minutes for abuse!

I still think public opinion will now be very much on our side: folk can see for themselves the double standards set by this affair.
I also expect some backlash over the fact they've offered a loan from the public purse - which, after all, we are not asking for.

They did, in fact, print it tonight, with other letters expressing similar views, especially re impingement on green belt and the floodlighting.

I am so disgusted with the Council's attitude that I have today penned a letter to the Evening News pointing out the difference in approach between the two sports.
If there is a plus to this it is that the Council have now set a precedent.

If Liam Lockett has signed then I guess I'll have to cough up on my promise to sponsor him again. It will be a pleasure as I'm sure he's destined to go much higher, as he matures, than our current level.

I think that is a very harsh judgement on Jezeph. He's a youngster, who just lost his rag when things were going badly wrong: I saw the incident close up and for my money the referee made a lot of it.

That's 'cos our status is so reduced good old BBCHW don't even give us a mention.
As for me I've seen - and suffered - enough this season: weather's fine, got a large garden that needs attention and with my wife ill, better things to do, so I'm not going to the last two home games. I'm also dreading the away game v Westfields: after what they did to us at home and with an even worse team than then I am not looking forward to that result, even if I won't be there.

Very interesting article in the centre pages of the Non-League Paper yesterday. With the FA aiming to create a true pyramid (i.e. National League at Step 1, 2 leagues at Step 2, then 4-8-16 leagues at lower levels) a certain amount of shuffling is going to have to happen. I have read the article three times and still am not sure if I've fully assimilated the details, but in essence it would seem that there will be fourteen leagues at City's current level of Step 5 next season, the CHAMPIONS of each league being automatically promoted.
So far so good: quite obvious. But then it gets complicated. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams in Northern, North West Counties and Northern Counties East leagues also get automatic promotion (something to do with re-balancing team numbers in those areas). With me so far? Of the 2nd placed clubs in the remaining eleven leagues FOUR with the best PPG (points per game) ratio will be promoted to Step 4, but the other seven will have to play-off against a Step 4 club in what appears to be a one-off game (i.e. not over two legs). It doesn't specify where these games will take place: i.e. do the Step 4 club have home advantage?
If anyone else has read that article and has a different interpretation do let us know: I may not have it right. I haven't considered the possibility of relegation! That, too, is complicated.

Does anyone know if George Williams is still playing for MK Dons? I saw in the Sunday papers that a George Williams (not an uncommon name I know) had scored for Forest Green AGAINST MK Dons last Saturday and wondered if he had changed clubs?

Well, that developed into quite a game! Thought City deserved the three points for the way the ran Shepshed ragged in the last half-hour, but when you consider Sam Gilder not only saved the penalty but made an almost impossible save from Jordan Wilson's looping shot, then I suppose we have to be thankful for the draw.
The two players who stood out for me were Liam Lockett (ran his heart out) and - when he came on - "Special K" (Attoumani) whose best performance in a City shirt that was. He was outstanding and didn't put a foot wrong: why doesn't he always play like that? He must be a "shoe-in" to start the next game surely?
As for the referee: it was obvious from early on we were all to be subjected to a symphony on the whistle. He was terrible, but what can we expect at this level?

Unless there are two Bradley Birch's he has just been done for drink-driving (after having been advised by the police that he was not in a fit state to drive) and been disqualified from driving - I think it was for 17 months. He said he would have no job from yesterday onwards because of losing his licence.
