Today's draw was live on TalkSport2 from 1.00 pm onwards.
Winner's of postponed game, being played Wednesday, (CITY!) AWAY to Atherstone Town.
This time we were the last ball out of the bag!

I agree: postponements, at part-time level, force players to miss work and lead to a huge backlog of fixtures come the end of the season. Artificial pitches suffer from postponements only when there's heavy snow or the floodlights don't work, or similar events.

What a disappointment! I had psyched myself up for the this one - as no doubt had the players.
Still, by Wednesday both sides will know their potential opponents in the next round, and looking down the fixtures there are no giants of the non-league world left in and several sides making their first appearance in the last 16, so all to play for.

Yesterday I thought I saw (No - I'm sure I saw) an article in the Worcester News, saying that Coventry had asked for (and we had agreed to) no replay: in other words if it ends all square after extra-time then it goes to a penalty shoot-out.
Now I can't see that article, so is it right after all?

I knew we would struggle in that one as soon as the Worcester News trumpeted our excellent form against them.
Why do we have to keep giving people early goals and two goal starts?

Mike Symons has left Hereford (where he wasn't even on the bench lately) and signed for Weston-Super-Mare.

Have disliked Highgate ever since playing at this level: gobby is my description. You have to remember we were playing our second game in 72 hours, whereas they didn't have a game on the Boxing Day.

One of our greatest goalkeepers: Mr Reliable. It would be nice to mark his passing, but for me a minute's silence is always better than applause.

It's always hard work against ten men when they all drop back behind the ball, but on a bit of a boggy pitch I thought that was a well-earned three points.

Well, the Evening News says nothing about the match being off and the weather hasn't been as bad as forecast. Twitter says nothing about any postponement.

I've not liked playing against Highgate ever since we've been at this level: nasty, gobby side. So, for once, they talked themselves into the sin bin.
I talked two guys who were coming regularly till the defeat against Long Eaton into coming again, and at half-time they must have thought I was joking, but our second-half performance was a treat and we could easily have won that.
I do wish, though, that we didn't concede goals in the first two minutes: several times that's happened recently.
I think there needs to be some indication to the crowd that a player has been sin-binned: I was unaware of what was happening and it was only when I read the post-match report that I realised they'd been down to nine men at one point.

I've read the article in the Evening News today and am now more confused than ever. If the FA rules on ownership of more than one club are quoted correctly then it would be impossible for the Warriors' owners to take us over.
Can anyone who really knows what they're talking about enlighten me on this? If I read the rules correctly then it applies to non-league clubs down to Step 6, and I appreciate that - at present - Morecambe (their other club) are a league club, but they're bottom of League Two and looking ever likely to return to non-league football next season.

Another cracking game, to follow up the Shepshed win. I have to admit when Newark scored the second time I thought we were going to go down, but the substitutions, together with a grit and determination which is growing with keeping a settled squad, saw us through, and this against what has to be one of the better sides in the league.
One player who rarely rates a mention is Sam Hall, who - playing alongside Craig Jones - seems to have developed into a good defender: Jones has the experience and Hall the legs? Dan Jezeph was superb too. Could have done without the constant whinging from the away side's dugout, but it seems par for the course at this level.
Anyway, the result sent me home happy.

I'm undecided: I can see the obvious advantages in having the admin facilities, publicity machine and off-field support from the Warriors, but we have spent all this effort on becoming a fan-owned club, only to cast that all away.
Football owners get bored unless there's success and go broke all the time, leaving the club they owned a mess - I can think of Darlington, Kettering and Rushden & Diamonds - and I'm sure those with a better memory than me will name a few more. So has anyone done due diligence on the two folk who made a bid for the club?
I would hate for the parent club to go broke and leave us in a worse mess than we are now.

City drawn at home to Coventry United; tie due to be played on Saturday January 11th., but Bromsgrove Sporting are due to host league leaders Tamworth that day, so presumably it'll be played on the Sunday (12th)?
Let's hope it's not a repeat of our league defeat to them (0-1) earlier in the season.
Draw was live on Talksport2 and we were the very first ball out of the hat.

Shepshed weren't unbeaten: they lost their first league game of the system only last week.
Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, despite the awful start (35 seconds according the guy next to me). Kept playing with grit and determination and the two front runners ran their hearts out. Craig Jones was a tower of strength, but it would be unfair to single out any individual as that was a good old blood and thunder cup-tie and they all gave 100%.
What a wonderful time to score the equaliser: must have made a difference to the half-time team talk! What a finish from Luke English too (another tower of strength) - a real thunderbolt. Despite being under the cosh from the moment we went down to ten men you always had the feeling City could squeeze something out of the game, and so it proved.
If I'm right, because we made the last 32, we get exemption from some of the early rounds next season. Now for the draw! C'mon City!

I missed Saturday, but was determined to brave the cold (cough and sore throat notwithstanding) and was mightily impressed by the work-rate, which seems to have stepped up 100%.
The confidence is just oozing out everywhere: long may it continue!
How much longer can we hang on to Liam Lockett? His second (wonder) goal was a cracker; plus - as said above - the arrival of Luke Rowe, has freed him up and taken some of the weight off Chris Withington's shoulders too.
The real test will come when we play Shepshed in the FA Vase on December 1st.

I was at the Oswestry game: it was my eldest daughter's 11th birthday and I said before the game perhaps they'll score 11 for you tonight. They went one better!
However the gloss was taken off the game for me: when the teams came off at the end the young Oswestry keeper was in tears.

9-0 : who saw that coming? And guess what? I wasn't there! Been feeling very off-colour the last few days and just wanted to stay at home in the warm; obviously chose the wrong day to do so!

I'm not a Mewies fan, but I have to agree - didn't see him put a foot wrong in the second half. Whittington again here there and everywhere; he could do with some midfield assistance though.
I also agree with the comments about Demetri, who worked his socks off and scored a class goal: pity about the glaring miss, but he didn't have much time to think about it. Locko again excellent: how are we going to hang on to that lad?
That's four rounds we've got through; if we could just get past Shepshed and into the last 32 I think that gives you exemption to the 2nd round the following year, but with their record it'll be a tough ask. Still, it's a cup-tie and it's 11 v 11, so we have a chance. I'm assuming the 3rd round tie will be played on the Sunday (1st December).

I have to agree with all that's been said above: I was mightily disappointed, and am beginning to think that a round trip of 40 miles on a dark, wet night is a waste of money.
Withington worked his socks off (as usual) but tried to do everything himself; we need another quality midfielder - the likes of the man who's just left!
As for the penalty miss - why didn't Lockett take it: he was the man fouled and Brain had already missed one previously.

Just thought I'd stick a post on here to highlight Shepshed's remarkable start to this season, even if they are now in a separate league to us (United Counties League Premier).
They've won all ten of their games, scoring 32 goals in the process, and have YET to concede a goal! Some record.

Now there's a blast from the past! Once saw him a score a cracker of a goal at Weston-Super-Mare, and of course there's the trademark somersault to look forward to.
But how will he fit in with Sean Brain?

I agree....who cares what an ex-player, who showed nil loyalty to the club, and the assistant manager of a team at a lower level think!
As for Saturday's match what disappointed me most was how the heads dropped after they scored the equaliser. The Vase match next Saturday does now take on an added significance.
