Maybe it's time to revive Jem's 5-5 prediction? could have been 6-6 last night - great entertainment tho That was the 1st second half we have won this season..... You have to admit it is getting better and if nothing else gives us a lot more positive things to talk about than we have had in a long time. We are only 4 games in, joint top (not joint bottom!) and going in the right direction I am so glad we have not met AFC Telford or similar in the first few games, That would have killed our confidence as they would not have missed the chances others have (11 goals non conceded in 3 games) and would probably have made it more difficult for us up front too. But with this confidence now in the club I feel are biggest test will be Blyth in a couple of weeks, (although Stafford will be no pushover) and we will see then how far we have really come.

Everybody is counted in now and I mean everybody. What! Including you? Everyone one maybe be counted in now, but doesn't mean they declare what that figure is tee hee It did feel as if the crowd was 850 not 750 but maybe that was wishful thinking. Win Saturday and lets hope for 850 on Monday afternoon

Unfortunately Hinckley did play much better than City in the second half. But what was going on after the third goal, many times the City got into promising positions but with only 3 and sometimes 4 men up, oh dear. The last 10 minutes or so were dire. But Carl must know what he is doing! The last 10 minutes is what is called 'hanging on!' ;D The 3 corners we had was just wasting time as he knew if Hinckley got into our half they looked like scoring every time. Look at their first goal. What a beauty curled into the top corner out of nothing. You can't blame Carl for telling them to keep it in the corner and not go for goal and possibly give it away.... can you? We are now joint top of the league altho played a game more

Birdfeeders right there. Fans have said they enjoy coming down as it has a very old look and looks traditional. I dont think they could do much more to make it look good without spending money . but the look of the ground is not the most important thing. You can not get a better atmosphere than last night. Perfect late summers evening, lights on, decent crowd, great football and the old ground as the stage for it all Gonna miss the old girl when she goes. sniff sniff Grounds have become very sanitised now, You go into a lot of them and you could be in anyone of 10 grounds and not see a lot of difference except for the club colours. You can not say that about SGL

Hello all. Im a new poster and just came across this forum. Ive been coming to see the city on and off the last few years and have a few problems with the club. I am 21 years old and find it hard encouraging friends to come to see the games as Worcester City appears as a bit of a joke. Understandably the club isnt a big time player, i hear there are financial problems and whatnot but somethings I feel, need changing. There may be some sort of affection shown to the announcer, pre-game and half time, but how are you meant to be a serious club with aspirations of hopefully moving up leagues, whilst he is rabbling on about quitting smoking and how his wife is. When i went into the club shop at half time, i was glared at by someone, which made me feel unwelcome, when i was thinking about buying a shirt. It put me off. On the way into the shop, there is a little 'in-joke' on the door about how bad someone is at painting. Surely, getting rid of that and actually painting the door properly would be better for the club. A few of the boards around the pitch, where there are no longer sponsors or brickwalls look pretty dreadful as well. A lick of paint would look great and really make it much more appealing. I never see any advertisments for the games coming up at the lane either. Even if it involves speaking to some independent shops in town, doing poster runs, that costs nothing and would be great. Some bill- boards on the way into Worcester (on the edge of farmers fields) so people know that there is even a worcester team could also help get people in. Worcester City frustrates me as a club. I love coming down the lane, its just so unproffesional and considered a bit of a joke. I will continue to support, i just always leave frustrated at the club and how it could be better with a bit more effort. Lee, whilst most of your comments are fair points they may be a bit harsh on Coin Layland and the volunteers who spent their summer evenings tying to make the place safe and also tart up what is a very tired ground. We are always looking for people to get involved in doing some of the things you mentioned, Trust fixture lists in shops etc., but more folk are needed. If you fancy getting involved, and you obviously care alot judging from your post, drop me an email at wcfctrust@btinternet.com and we'll have a chat. Rob I too can see this new posters point. Although, if he has been coming to the ground for a while I would have thought he may have seen the tidy up even from the end of last season? Captain Crazy is not the greatest advert and I am not sure you are getting the full benefit from the investment made in the new equipment either. Even forgetting to put on Time is Tight twice this season! Professionalism isn't always our strong point and altho we find Tony P's failings funny I am sure that many do not and it can be irritating. (Hope whoever was responsible for throwing the paint away will pay too!) We all know we can do more when time permits and when enough people get involved but the time and money needed just isn't available. I think this post goes to prove that altho great strides have been made and are being made more can be done. But it can't all be left to Rob and his small team (Neils, Rich etc) LeeJackson - You must be aware also that the ground (it's in the papers often enough) has been sold so no big investments are going to be made on it as it won't be here in a shortly and if you had bought a programme last night you will have read the commercial view from Rich Widdowson on why their are blank advertising boards around the ground etc. I hope you take up Rob's offer and can help, be good to have you on board

I Thought the first half was great. the second half hinkley played a lot better. i allways remember fergie saying winning a game and not playing that good shows what a good side you are by grinding out 3 points without playing to the maximum. Mark Danks and Danny Glover looks like it will be a great partnership and the way Danksy is playing and going he will get over 20 Goals, last night though the atmosphere was a lot different around the ground compared to recent games. everybody is loving how city are playing and believe we can do well!. im sure jcp will come across and say its still early, yes its only 4 Games on but with the results and attacking play sury were allowed to be over optamistic. my mate who came who watches birmingham city said that citys first half was better than the whole Birmingham vs blackburn rovers Game, who would of thought that someone would say that about worcester city in the last 3/4 seasons. why corby released cartwright i would never know the shift and determination from him is second to none. but again he leaves m mgregoar on the bench and dont even bring him on for the last 10/5 mins is a mystery , people around me said he'll get fed up and leave i hope that dont happen as he has a lot to offer. saturdays Game will be tough. A draw or win would be a good result that will bring nicely for a sunny bank holiday game against sollihul moors. with the last two games bringing about 750 attendance, hopefully we can push onto 800 , i heard that ch is budgeting on a 660 attendance , so the last two games would of brought a lot more money in, plus did the programs do well again? I don't think last night was the right night for McGregor to come on, however when we were up against it at Vauxhall it would have made sense to have someone who would hold the ball up a bit more. And I think Carl could easily say his substitution was right with the winning goal coming off the bench. If Meredith had been in goal in the last 2 games we would have been hammered, Tim S he has pulled off 2 amazing saves in both the last 2 games to get the defence out of the fire. As I said in an earlier post, as individuals the defence seem to play well but as a unit it just is not firing. I think we will miss Shab for a few games the way he left the Lane last night did not look good. Elvins played much better yesterday and settling in well at the heart along side Mark who tidy's up with the best of them. I think part of the problem is we now have 4 midfield players who want to go forward and the defence is looking a bit exposed, there is no one getting back to help and we are conceding far too many. I am sure The King will sort that in good time. I don't think we will see too many 0-0 draws this season but at least now it was worth the £11 to see some great attacking football The crown seemed much bugger than it was against Gainsboro last night yet was announced as being smaller.

Time to inject some pessimism. Lose 2-3. Being a Worcester City supporter is like being the over-optimistic parents of the fat kid on sports day

Don't under estimate Hinkley they lost to two good sides 1-0 and won 5-2 on Saturday it will not be easy. Don't think anyone is under estimating them , and I do not think Worcester can be under estimated either. Should prove to be a good game and I hope that they get the support they deserve.

Yesterday at 9:12, pendulum wrote: I wholeheartedly agree with virtually all you have said in that post. Would only add that re-signing Danksy was an inspired move by The King - every time we move forward we now look like we could score - it makes a huge difference to the spectating!
--------------------------------------------------
And I would have to agree with you too, Danks movement and work rate was excellent too. He has got sharper with each game, I was thinking he had lost it Vs Gainsborough with the chances he missed and Carl could easily have put McGregor up front Vs Eastwood. But Danks ran them ragged but he must watch his mouth. I thought he might get a red card at Vauxhall after the abuse he gave that useless ref when given the yellow, altho' he was correct in that the defender made the most of it and went down looking like he been hit by a land rover and ran away 2 seconds later like a ballet dancer!
Who thinks McGregor will soon get fed up of being on the bench and will look elsewhere? That could be the same for a few others too. How often in the past have City named the same 16 players 3 games in a row (possibly 4 if I hear correct and it's the same side again tonight) ??

2.1 to Hinckley I would have said a City win but my mate is coming with me (inspired by the last two results and glowing match reports). When this particular friend of mine comes, City always lose. In fact, I'm not sure he has ever seen City win Keep him AWAY!! Verner, listen to Pendulum PLEASE!!

The defence sounds strong with ward elvins clyde and shaba though. i think monday will be a great game to get a cleansheet seeing hinkley scored 5 yesterday Individually the defence looked good at Vauxhall. It is very difficult to put your finger on why they are just not clicking as a unit Mark Clyde appeared to flag a bit int he 2nd half but that is probably because his ribs were very sore and he is lacking a bit of fitness and maybe the knee stiffens up. Shab is outstanding at the moment and he and Matt Birley are combining well down the left, switching roles regulalry and this has allowed Shab to overlap and look threatening. It is a but like Barton of old, maybe Everton can put in a big bid for Shab and buys us a new ground lol Elvins I think is still finding his way next to Clyde. Looking to make sure he is setup right and in the right place at the right time, wanting to get further forward but not too sure if he should. He still has a midfielder's mentality rather than central defender maybe? If the defence start to work as a unit and the midfield and forward line continue then it can only get better. We are now winning games when possibly only playing at what I estimate as being 75% of our potential. All of this without Graham Ward for 75 minutes too, after going off with concussion and sickness after taking an elbow off the ball just after Vauxhall scored. He said after the game he hopes he should be fit Monday. All in all it wasn't a bad performance yesterday, first half we scored three without real domination, outstanding finish for Danny Glover's goal, he looks a real quality player and I go along with what was said by Carl about his level of defending from the front. Tireless! Can I add one more observation? You read, hear and have seen, when they have played in opposition to us, what quality players Kev O'Connor and Tom Thorley are; possibly two of the best players in the league - But it is a real credit to the playing squad strength at WCFC this season when I say that altho' Kev and Tom look very good players they are not another level above the rest of the squad as you might expect them to be. They are on a par with what is turning into a decent squad for this level of football. What a signing Neil Cartwright is looking to be too. He goes about his work quietly but his crossing and work rate are excellent. I am genuinely excited about this team for the 1st time in a long time and JCP, I hope 9 games of this may prove your point I hope It can only get better.

When did City last score four away from home? Aren't you all forgetting the four against Carshalton in last year's Trophy? I know that wasn't a league game of course. Incidentally I noticed that the Evening News didn't credit the report on the Eastwood game to Steve Carley, so I'm guessing it was syndicated from the local paper and topped and tailed back in Worcester with a bit of local knowledge. Think steve c is still away hence no reports from him

Oh and yes also agree that it is a pain (well slight bug bear maybe) them having to go via a different gate. Especially on busy days when you could get separated I think it has something to do with knowing the profile of entrance for accounting, gate numbers and probably helps with budgets etc too

Indeed! Like you, my girls spend most of their time playing altho one is getting more interested with each visit I am not so sure that I would take them to every game if it wasn't for the early bird season tickets, the cost for my wife, me and 4 children would be £34 plus the envitable coke and crisps which does make it a very expensive day out and that is before petrol money too. I don't know how large families can afford going to premier league games, poor views and tickets at more like £20 each and no opportunity to buy a cheaper season ticket at anything like ten pounds. I think that offer pre season was superb and another good initiative coming out of this club. The club are certainly getting better and should be praised for it too Ask if the deal is still open the worse that will happen is they will say no

cool cool ay hints on the prices When I spoke to Rob and Kieron saturday the feeling was that about sixty quid for the season including postage would be about the right sort of price but that was just first thoughts and not a price we can hold them too Seemed fair to me as a good cup run would make it worth while as cup games would be virtually free

Ok there could be some interesting responses to this 2 games played, we now have a pretty firm idea of the style of play that the City have adopted for the season and are starting to understand how others may play against us (long ball a la City last year) Next up are Vauxhall who have not had the best start to the season What do you think the score will be then?? I am going for a comprehensive 3-1 win with a ref who stops us making it 5 with some rank awful decisions That 2nd bit was easy to predict lol Anyone who is going will see you there - can't wait!!!

] Sorry Leeds, I still cannot open the City website. Think it is a problem with yourlocal client there doesnt seem to be any problem and I have tested on 3 differnet machines. Trying looking in your internet settings and clearing the cache and temporary internet files , close internet explorer and then go in again and see if that helps? NOTE: are trying in Firefox or Safari you will need to scroll right over to the right hand side of the scroll bar to see any content as these web clients do not process the code being used correctly.

Reading your summary Pendulum It reminds me how far we have come and what a complete turnaround from last season. A lot of teams played it on the floor and to feet last year and we were the ones giving it the hoof to Addagio etc. It was so nice on Saturday to see us playing football as it should be played and it sounds like last night was even better. It is obvious that is the way we intend playing the game this year and I hope the people of Worcester who have for so long said I am not going to watch that ****, will now come out and support the team again. They now have no excuse not to! I hope Steve keeps pushing the point in his Worcester News reports that we now pass the ball to feet and along the floor and we get people back through the gates.
PS Let's hope we can keep the pitch in as good a nick as possible to allow us to play this way. What is going to happen in January when 40 odd games have been played on it and you can count the blades of grass left on one hand?

Was Dave Booby on holiday or had the board made a decision on him sitting in the box? Surely if he can sit in the box, that facility should be available to all shareholders? Not sure I would want to sit there even if that offer was open to all shareholders The ability to stand on the terraces, which you can't do at all levels of football, is part of the appeal of non league 'community' football to me.

"whats wrong with 3 pound for under 16s?" Surely you jest? If you sold out every home game every time, then no problem. But if you don't, then letting them in for less is a given. "Mum/Dad, I want to go to a football match." Mum/Dad takes son/daughter...result, more income. "Mum/Dad, I'm going to the football with my mate(s)" Kid goes, Mum/Dad stays at home. Kid has more money to spend at the football game.......result: same/more income. Or kid gets charged 3 quid to get in. Mum/Dad thinks I'm not taking him/her again. Result....I'll let you guess at that one. If you knew that a child was likely to want to go then maybe you could have taken advantage of the £10 season ticket before the season started. It would have paid for itself once they attend 4 games but I don't think £3 is over the top to see football at this level. You will pay a lot more for league football altho' some clubs at this level do allow them in free with a paying adult but I do not have qualms at £3 but wouldnt want it to be any more that is for ceratain. With 4 children of my own I know what it is like.....

on a note shaba has to be one of the best or the best left backs in non league? He (Shab) made one superb saving tackle in the first half. Best left back I have seen outside of the BSB Premier for certain and I would not be surprised to see his consistency raise a few eyebrows and maybe even some bids from BSB Premier league sides but I dont think he would go unless it was for full time football in League 2 or above. Can I add one thing that I thought was nice to see yesterday? With about 5 mins to go, Rob Elvins took a heavy blown from a bad challenge and got a free kick on the edge of the box. Last season he would have jumped up an given him a right hander and got sent off, (remember the debacle of the ref sending off the wrong player when Rob Elvins did give someone a right hander ?) this time he bit his lip accepted the free kick and took it no further. When I saw him go down I was just waiting for the red mist to desend and retribution to be taken. Well done Rob for keeping it to yourself!!!!! I thought City played some really good football, if Matt Birley had taken his chance instead of looking for a penalty, if the ref had given 3 of the 4 or even 5 probable penalties we could have had and if the ref and linesman had seen and dismissed their goalie for handling outside the box at the start of the 2nd half (and he did handle it outside too I was too next to it!) then things might have been very different. The result did not reflect the game at all and we deserved a point if not better. Yes a lot if what if's but when they all go against us in one game lets hope they go for us for the majority of the rest of the season and we will be Okay; mid table should be well with in our grasp. Maybe not play offs but I for one will be grateful for having some finger nails left when we are safe with 6 games to go and not having to worry about where the next point might come from like last season!
