After a very shaky start I watched the City play some very entertaining football for the first time for several seasons.
Kick and hope today at all.
Well done Carl and the Lads. Keep on trying to play as you did today and the wins will come, only ill fortune and the ref stopped you today!

Agreed - this was a close result against a team that will be there abouts at the end of the season. Play like this and we won't have too many problems

This sounds like the opening game of numerous past seasons.... Though I agree we have to give it until the end of September? But we're talking hope rather than expectation.

City gave a good show of it yesterday, on that performance I can see more good than bad coming from the season. Anyone not there shouldn't read too much in to result alone.
The first goal was scored within 2 minutes but once the team settled they played some nice football.
Danks had a couple of decent chances which he would probably score or at least test the keeper with on another day.
This was not a backs to the wall performance and on the balance City are very unlucky to have lost. The team played some bright football and look far from the team of last year.
Good game, good football by the city and i'll be going back to watch that's for sure.

Brian Little and Gavin Ward both commented after the game that they couldn't believe we hadn't beaten them !!

Thought City settled down and played some decent football. Deserved - at least - a point. The only negatives for me was the poor defending for the first goal and lack of communication/understanding between the forwards ... takes time, but we wasted some great chances in the second half.

I have to say I was impressed by City's performance yesterday. They were robbed of a victory by a useless ref and the defence being very shaky the first 20 minutes.
I do think they should forget that and concentrate on the positives, they played good football, and on the ground, they made chances, they didnt give up and they all put in solid performances.
I was pleased to see so many young lads in the team, and so much spirit. On that performance I can see them doing very well this season.
Keep it up lads, and it will be you in the play offs, not those thugs from Gainsborough.

Gobby, why don't you keep that bloody umbrella still, when it is up. The constant pushing it up in the air and down again whilst it was raining was a bit of a nuisance. Your are quite rightly entitled to put up your brolly when it is raining, but think of the persons behind you and keep the thing still.

Well, I did my usual and attended first game of the season to weigh up what is on offer. Really pleasantly supried ! Healey has got a good young squad that if it stays together will go forward in a year or two's time. I think the young lads were a bit out-muscled by a very physical Trinity who were lucky in my opinion to finish the game with 11 players if it were not for a very weak ref. Their No. 4 only knows how to kick people with a faint hope of making contact with the ball, and although they looked good going forward i think their issue will be suspensions affecting team selection throughout the seson - they will not win the fair play league for sure. On to City though, once they settled after a very poor star they played some good footbal on the ground and carved a donkey Trinity defence open on several occasions only for chances to be spurned mainly by a very selfish Danks - that needs to be sorted by Healey. The keeper worried me a bit always punching when catching was the favourable option - again, I think Carl will sort that out. I'll definately attend more than last season if this is the style City will continue with, but dissapointed in the £3 charge for under 16's. This will turn some people away - maybe the board will look into this. Maybe not the play-offs this season, but attractive football will serve them well and hopefully a decent couple of cup runs to boost the coffers. Well done Healey.

on a note shaba has to be one of the best or the best left backs in non league? He (Shab) made one superb saving tackle in the first half. Best left back I have seen outside of the BSB Premier for certain and I would not be surprised to see his consistency raise a few eyebrows and maybe even some bids from BSB Premier league sides but I dont think he would go unless it was for full time football in League 2 or above. Can I add one thing that I thought was nice to see yesterday? With about 5 mins to go, Rob Elvins took a heavy blown from a bad challenge and got a free kick on the edge of the box. Last season he would have jumped up an given him a right hander and got sent off, (remember the debacle of the ref sending off the wrong player when Rob Elvins did give someone a right hander ?) this time he bit his lip accepted the free kick and took it no further. When I saw him go down I was just waiting for the red mist to desend and retribution to be taken. Well done Rob for keeping it to yourself!!!!! I thought City played some really good football, if Matt Birley had taken his chance instead of looking for a penalty, if the ref had given 3 of the 4 or even 5 probable penalties we could have had and if the ref and linesman had seen and dismissed their goalie for handling outside the box at the start of the 2nd half (and he did handle it outside too I was too next to it!) then things might have been very different. The result did not reflect the game at all and we deserved a point if not better. Yes a lot if what if's but when they all go against us in one game lets hope they go for us for the majority of the rest of the season and we will be Okay; mid table should be well with in our grasp. Maybe not play offs but I for one will be grateful for having some finger nails left when we are safe with 6 games to go and not having to worry about where the next point might come from like last season!

"whats wrong with 3 pound for under 16s?"
Surely you jest? If you sold out every home game every time, then no problem. But if you don't, then letting them in for less is a given.
"Mum/Dad, I want to go to a football match." Mum/Dad takes son/daughter...result, more income.
"Mum/Dad, I'm going to the football with my mate(s)" Kid goes, Mum/Dad stays at home. Kid has more money to spend at the football game.......result: same/more income.
Or kid gets charged 3 quid to get in. Mum/Dad thinks I'm not taking him/her again. Result....I'll let you guess at that one.

It would have paid for itself once they attend 4 games but I don't think £3 is over the top to see football at this level. You will pay a lot more for league football altho' some clubs at this level do allow them in free with a paying adult but I do not have qualms at £3 but wouldnt want it to be any more that is for ceratain. With 4 children of my own I know what it is like.....

I make no apologies for mentioning AFC Wimbledon again- the charge for U16s at our home games is 2 pounds.
So it may seem like only a quid difference- in reality it is much more.
(Disappears behind parapet and waits for the obvious onslaught)

Was Dave Booby on holiday or had the board made a decision on him sitting in the box? Surely if he can sit in the box, that facility should be available to all shareholders?

Fair call on the reduced charge, but remember it being 80p? around 20-30 years ago when I first started going, so maybe £3 isn't so much. The £10 season ticket is a great deal, whilst maybe a 'family' ticket with 2 kids or more, or a 'joint' admission fee of £10 or £12 for 1 adult & 1 kid seems fair?

Not sure I would want to sit there even if that offer was open to all shareholders The ability to stand on the terraces, which you can't do at all levels of football, is part of the appeal of non league 'community' football to me.
