Pitch inspection at 4.30pm as there's been some snow... I'll post on clubs socials when I hear more.

A very good win, and like Julian, I'd call it vital too. Rugby were certainly a physical side at times, and I'm sure a fair few of our players will be aching today. That said, Danks got minutes yesterday despite recovering from a foot injury, Birley only took part for 30 minutes or so - so hopefully is well rested, and of course Hughes is still to come back into the mix... We've got to expect squad rotation for most of the games left due to fixture congestion.
Praise for Rugby as a club - lovely ground, lovely people running it - made to feel really welcome. One of their volunteers explained to me at half time how the man who owns the club paid for most of the development of the ground, the have a full size 3g pitch and a 7 a side pitch behind the one end, new floodlights which had their official 'switch on' yesterday, a good modern bar. They also apparently have 9 players on contracts, working on the logic of keeping the core of a side together for a season or more, rather than having to constantly rebuild the squad as most do at this level.

I think you mean their 10? Add their 5 and 11 to that list. Truth is everyone in a City shirt today looked either past their best or off their game. I've been adamant for a while that we have a decent side, but we're not good enough to win this league. Today surely proves the point? Sporting, Coleshill and Khalsa are all better sides than us. Maybe they have more knowhow about this level of football as well. So, disappointing but not unexpected. Although I'm more disappointed that I didn't hear anything by The Fall over the tannoy. It was played after the game!

Wish I saw it, as a fair few City fans I spoke to said the same, but sadly someone decided to stand in front of me as it happened, all I saw was him get booked and their player on the floor.

Conceded after 35 seconds, pulled level Concede a soft goal as unchallenged Gwynne fumbles the ball over his own line, pulled level Left it late in a game with chances at both ends to finally take the lead through Hughes, before he doubles his tally and end the game 2-4!
Much more enjoyable game than the Lye Town game at the VG the other week. A good 3 points away and hopefully enough left in the players legs for Saturday at the VG against Sporting Khalsa

IF we win our games in hand, it's an incredibly close run in.
No easy games though, as we learned at Shawbury.

Although we've hardly played in the last 2 months, the fixture pileup is not too dissimilar to other teams around us. We only have the league to focus on, no Vase or local cup games to add to the fixture pileup. Below is how many games clubs up the top end of the league have left to play
Games left to play: Worcester City: 22 (22 league) Bromsgrove Sporting: 22+ (20 league, 1+ local cup, 1+ FA Vase) Coleshill Town: 21+ (19 league, 1+ league cup, 1+ FA Vase) Sporting Khalsa: 19+ (18 league, 1+ local cup) Coventry Sphinx: 19 (19 league) Highgate United: 21 (21 League)
Spare a thought for Stourport Swifts with their fixtures left to play: 25+ (23 league, 1+ Local cup, 1+ Fa Vase) With their pitch apparently not being all too good at the moment, it's quite likely they will have a lot to play in April!

I can know that we're not over budget each week without knowing how much each player is on individually.

I've no idea how much they get paid... but they're within the set budget.

To my knowledge, this season the management haven't broken the budget set... which is why I'm quite happy with on the pitch results this season. In some previous years, budgets seemed to mean little, and we overspent... I suppose that's one of the reasons we are in the situation we are now.

I think it was 'work towards a break even budget', rather than a guarantee. Personally I'd rather play to the set budget, rather than panic and increase the budget mid-season to meet expectation of some.
I was always thinking we'd be in for a shock at this level, and anything above midtable would be a bonus, so as a whole, the first half of this season I look at as a supporter, as a relative success. That said, we're in touching distance of mounting a serious title challenge, and I believe on their day this squad could beat any team in this league... so hope these players can do that for us!

I agree, but I think that shows the strength of some of the other clubs at this level. Some I do think have very little quality about them, but others such as Bromsgrove have the resources to compete with us, any other club at this level, and no doubt would be up towards the top in the league above. The thing I've felt somewhat refreshed by is that we haven't panicked that we're not top by 10 points and spent money to get someone in to force us up the league, at the cost of much more than we can afford.

Didn't notice to be honest - they did applaud those left in main stand as they went to dressing room though.
Awful game and feel sorry for Andy at the Worcester News and our highlights guy to find some points of note in that game... but 3 points are 3 points. 12 months ago I think we'd all have said after a dull victory that it's good points in a forgettable game, I suppose it shows the expectation of us all that we wanted more than just a win today.
I looked at least seasons stats earlier. Sure, it's a different league and we all expect better results this season, but we're halfway through and already have scored more points and scored more goals than in the whole of last season, and averaging over 2 points per game.

Snape confirmed post match that he's on a dual reg. If I'm honest, I cannot see him staying around at that level just yet. Should have stayed and developed his game here.

I could be wrong, but I think it was said initially that a 7 day approach was put in, meaning he's not on a contract we can get a fee for.

It means you can get promoted without applying for it. Simple as that Genghis. If wcfc end up first or one of the 12 best step 5 runners up, we go up.

Yup, you can buy juice and pies again on New Years Day (today), with proceeds going to St Paul's to continue in the work brilliant work they do to help the homeless in Worcester. Donation buckets will also be at the club shop stall for them. Would be great if as many as possible help support them. On my journey through town after work tonight, I spotted 5 rough sleepers. Terrible how many in Worcester are homeless and need support.
there is not a planned foodbank collection, but Boxing Day was very successful and the foodbank volunteers seemed delighted with how much had been donated. We will look to sort out another one or two foodbank collections in the future and see if they remain successful. Should anyone have a charity they want the club to help fundraise for, please let me know and I'll see if we can sort something.

It's down to Bromsgrove, but I'll give you a bucket if you like, and I cannot see them having a problem with it.
Edit: A bucket with my couple of quid in it!

So far, I'd say good, but certainly room for improvement. We have games in hand on all above us, best GD and goals scored in the league, and what I consider currently to be a squad able to challenge for the title. That said, I agree we need to improve above the better teams, hopefully starting with 3 against Sporting on New Years.
I think Vaughan in goal will really help City at the back, as his keeping ability is beyond this level, and is a great communicator with his defence. If you could find odds on winning this league at this point, I wouldn't expect us to be the bookies favourites, but I don't think we'd be far off.
As for applying for promotion, I think I'm right in saying you don't need to this year - might be something to do with 'some of the 2nd placed teams at step 5 also going up' issue.

This was discussed a fair bit on facebook - someone suggested the camera angle could be deceiving, and I think they're right. Ref is nearby, No complaints at the time from City players, and Lee Hughes said no arguments about it post match.

In case anyone has missed it, on Boxing Day the club is supporting St Paul's Hostel and Worcester Foodbank. We're asking for supporters to bring any items off the Foodbank Shopping list (pdf can be found on link. If it's one 20p tin, a carrier bag full, or a van load - we'll take it, and make sure it gets to the Foodbank to help look after those who most need it! We're also fundraising for St Paul's Hostel. They support and nurture homeless people around Worcester, and have done so for the last 40 years. You can support St Paul's on Boxing Day through buying mince pies or mulled apple juice from the club shop. With a bit of luck, there should be some St Paul's collection tins around the ground too, in case you find yourself with a bit or shrapnel pulling your trousers down! I'd love it if all who attend the Boxing Day match bring any items off the foodbank shopping list (can be found on link) www.worcestercityfc.org/news/city-link-up-with-charities-2106750.html or buy a pie for St Paul's! Thanks in advance to everyone who is helping out on the day, and who has helped organise it! Should the day from a charity point of view prove successful, I'd like to work in regular charity days throughout the season, and see if we can support some local good causes!

Phase one would be suitable for the league above. That would indicate progression up the leagues. From my understanding, it'd be quite easy to then get it up to scratch to step 3.
