Reference the two points above, if the referee was being verbally abused by certain players then I admire him for sticking to his guns. From what I could tell he'd already warned them what would happen if it continued. Yes, he's a young lad, still learning and it was evident he made some wrong calls during the match, but that doesn't mean he has to accept whatever was said.
On the second point it is frustrating that the programme did not contain up to date fixtures. The editor doesn't set out to make mistakes but I guess on this occasion he wasn't aware of the changes that were announced on social media earlier in the week.

Our biggest league win since we beat Oswestry 12-2 in 1976. I thought that was the last time that two City players scored hat-tricks in the same game. However a little more digging and I recalled that John Muir and Les Ebrey both scored hat tricks in a Southern League Cup game October 1985 v Merthyr which City win 8-0.

Good job all those refs turned up as the attendance would have been well under 200 otherwise. I hope they paid to get in.
Incidentally the reason why the VG is no longer a fortress probably has something to do with the quality of the players we have now compared to two years ago - the likes of Forsyth, Weir, Hayward, Birch, Birley, Hughes, Reynolds. Really there is no comparison.

So our manager chooses to play a 32 year old who's 60% fit rather than the guys who turn up for training week in week out, or a teenager who's scored 15 goals for the reserves this season? And we have to pay for the privilege of watching that play out. Can't help but feel short changed.

Can't deny that everyone worked hard but winning another penalty wouldn't have won us the game. Credit to Coventry, they aren't going to win our league based on what I saw, but they looked in control for most of the 90 minutes.
At best we have a set of players who are capable of finishing mid-table in the MFL. But on the basis of just one win in our last 8 league games we look more like relegation candidates.

Dodger - any updates from you on the FA Cup trail?
Incidentally, worth pointing out that Chichester City started their run at the same stage as us. It has earned them £82k to date apparently.

But it probably should be. We're in the Midland Football League. Surely the step up to the first team is more achievable than at any stage in the last 20 years? Does it say something about the quality of young footballers in Worcester that none are seemingly good enough to make that transition?

Ethan Moran, who was released from his City contract recently and is now with Malvern Town, yesterday scored twice in extra time to secure a 4-2 away win in the Vase for Malvern at GNP Sports. Dave Reynolds came on as a substitute for Malvern.

Three consecutive league defeats does not give me much optimism. I had hoped that with Vincent in charge there would be an improvement on last season, but there seems to be little progression.
We deserved to be ahead at half time today but were guilty of missing chances.
Sadly whilst Harrison and Brown are both hard working they both appear to be incapable of doing what they're supposed to, i.e. score goals.
I presume they are only starting because Jeys and Brain are not available.
Home crowds of 250 or less are going to become the norm I fear.

I note that PPP have issued a “statement” on their Facebook page: “Hi everyone. It’s been suggested by a few antagonists that PPP might say something about the proposal for a hockey centre on Droitwich Road that funding has been secured for and to which the Council have given considerable support. Pending planning permission, this would be built on the field roughly opposite Blooms and neighbouring football pitch. As when the new swimming pool was built, I offered PPP members the chance to shout if you wanted to object. One person did, as I recall. The view was assumed to be that in most local people’s minds, this did not compare with a football stadium being built on playing fields. So we left it at that. So, to all of you people reading this I will again offer the chance to make the hockey centre an issue we pick up. Does anyone object to this proposal? If the answer is no, I will, on behalf of me alone and not PPP, suggest the reasons why are as follows: - it is not being built on a much appreciated public open space - it is not being built on a problematic road - a school and university are behind it - it is not attracting large enough numbers regularly to disrupt a neighbourhood - it is unlikely to spill traffic over in to neighbouring estates - it is a plan to support a thriving sport not a failing club (as it was then, at least). - it won't ruin a nice view Yes, it is partly on an existing and used playing field – but the provision of two pitches in its place (as opposed to one pitch and a not-for-public-use stadium) makes me think ‘fair enough’. I’m wondering if the University and RGS approached ever had talks with the Supporters Trust or Worcester City FC? Cheers, Jason” That was posted on 9 June 2019!

I think their manager was shown a red card? Sam Oji was sin binned, but I don't recall seeing a card shown. I'll stand corrected though.

I thought Roberts joined us from Bromsgrove? Had he already left them when we signed him?
He's now at Evesham United.
Brain incidentally was the player who scored with a cheeky chip in the penalty shootout in the Urn final last season.

I read the following accusation from a reader on the WN website:
"Take a look at the online fans forum, 'City Banter Board.' Only a handful of people can be bothered to make comments there anymore, because anyone outside of their little clique is abused or derided for having an opinion."
Is that really the case? I don't agree but if I'm part of the little clique then maybe I am not best placed to comment.
