Sad in a way. There will never be another time where Worcester City are discussed in the same article as Man Utd and West Ham.

Surely the lack of cash and Hampson's will, has put promotion beyond us? Especially the second point. What other club has a chairman who would pretty much admit on public that he would rather the club not be promoted?

Hampton pretty much admitting that he would rather the club not be promoted. Really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Has anyone ever seen anything like it before? A day later and i’m still really confused as to what was going on.

I’ve been following the twitter updates for every game i’ve missed this season. You’ll get no complaints from me.
Opposition players being referred to by number instead of name is really a non-issue when most of us can’t name the majority of opposition players anyway. At this level, you see many of them once and then never again.

First match i’ve been to in 3 months.
Grateful of the 3 points, but it was an uninspiring performance. Only real detail of note was the exceptionally lenient referee. I saw at least 3 fouls that I was puzzled why they weren’t yellow card offences.

It means you can get promoted without applying for it. Simple as that Genghis. If wcfc end up first or one of the 12 best step 5 runners up, we go up. Fair enough, I misunderstood. Thanks for clarifying that.

All, Please be advised that I have an email from the league regarding this and despite comments above I can confirm there is no application process this season. I had been awaiting some form of announcement from the league themselves but I have just clarified with them that we are able to announce this ourselves. I will be putting out a news piece regarding this shortly That’s really disappointing. I guess it’s true, the Board never had any intention of us being promoted this season. I feel an idiot for giving them a chance.

Wasn’t at the match, so can’t comment on any individual performances, but i’m really disappointed that we didn’t pick up 3 points. The game on Monday is absolutely must-win now. Anything less than 3 points and City’s chance of promotion goes down drastically.

A good win. I don’t want to get my hopes up only to be let down again but things are looking a bit more promising at the top of the league now. The next 2 games against Bromsgrove are make or break imo. If we pick up the 6 points, i’d put are chances of promotion as very good.
I’ve not been to a match in 2 months now. I do kind of miss it.

If viewing on iPhone, the words are readable just by zooming in a bit.
If viewing on a computer, just hold ctrl and use the mouse scroll button to enlarge the page. If you’re using an older mouse with no scroll button, you can enlarge the screen in the settings tab of your browser.
I’ve tried both iPhone and computer and it only takes a slight enlargement to be able to read the text.

Haha, i’ll make sure to do that. There's an article on the BBC Sport website today about the amount of research they do these days, and how clubs actually use it to find players! The 2015 edition also features local journalists Daryll (sic) Butler and Julian Pugh! Yeah, i’ve seen a few articles like this. Apparently, they employ actual scouts to gather the necessary information of the players abilities. That’s an interesting tidbit about the journalist names. I’ve never paid attention to what they’re called, so i’ll need to keep my eye out on that.

I've been playing the FM18 beta - some interesting new part in social groups within the squad have been added, and if you set up as a former sunday league player taking the reigns of a professional club, there's a very good chance the squad don't listen to you very much initially. I've been sacked twice already. Once from QPR, once from Notts County after failing to get any consistency. Currently trying out Oxford United - Somewhat better results. edit: don't buy the game full price - check the club shops of teams in the game - they get a load of free copies to sell, often at cut prices... I think we were selling them at £20 a pop last season. Check clubs like Gloucester and I'm sure you'll find a copy on the cheap. I ended up buying the game from the F.C. United shop for £20. It came yesterday morning. Thanks for the advice. I used the editor to make all leagues down to Level 10 in the pyramid playable. I’m impressed by how much research the game developers did on the lower level teams that weren’t meant to be playable. In your first press conference upon taking over Worcester they talk about City’s ‘grim times’ after dropping 3 divisions. That detail actually impressed me.

I used to feel sorry for downthelane, but his recent cowardly behaviour justifies all the hostility he receives. That’s Rich coming from you. Is the capitalised ‘R’ a hidden message? Are you Rich Widdowson just having a laugh?

I didn't go because John Snape is clueless. Wayne Thomas should be given the job before our season is over by Christmas Snape and Hughes both at this stage. Neither are up to the job.

One would hope promotion is still the objective, but let me offer an alternative scenario. We're out of our our major cup competition and this will impact on achieving a break even budget (or mitigating losses, if that is now the case). We're not currently looking like title winners and unless that situation improves then gates of 350 or below are likely to be the norm for the remainder of the season. So what should the board do - go for broke and try to improve things on the field to secure promotion, or act prudently and pursue its financial objective first and foremost? Wouldn't it make sense to accept that we need two or three seasons in the MFL and rely on those 350 to carry on turning up every other Saturday? That way the club continues on its path towards breaking even, we have one or two more shots at getting to Wembley and we try and bring through more youngsters from the under 18s and under 21s into the first team. It will also buy the board time to focus on Parsonage Way, which is going to be ready for the 19/20 season. For our current level of football I understand we need a stadium with a 1,000 capacity. For the next step up the pyramid we would need a 1,300 minimum capacity stadium. If that means PW is likely to cost more wouldn't it make sense to stay where we are? Maybe more information will come to the fore when the club holds its consultation on PW next month. I get your point, but would 350 keep showing up to watch City play in the Midland Prem for the next few seasons? I don’t plan on attending any games next season if we don’t achieve promotion. Especially if it’s revealed that the club is deliberately avoiding promotion for financial reasons. I can only speak for myself, but I don’t think i’m alone in that.

SO JIMBO YOU THINK WE SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN CONFERENCE NORTH EVEN THOUGH WE COULDN’T AFFORD IT? Do you really disagree with everyone as often as you say you do? You always seem to hold the contrary opinion, regardless of what is being discussed. I don’t think that’s possible. Either your trolling is A+ for keeping up the gimmick for so long or you just really hate the people who post on this board.

Stourport, Bromsgrove and Westfields all through today, incidentally. City are concentrating on the league I hope this is true, but i’m getting more skeptical of our chances of promotion each week.

Some of you talk like WCFC have some divine right to win. It’s cup football and you win some, you lose some. No, it’s just very disappointing to be outplayed by a team who were below average at best. Both teams were poor, and the side who were least poor ultimately won the game. After watching a game like that for 90 minutes, it doesn’t leave you in high spirits. Were you there today?

I feel like i’ve wasted my Saturday afternoon. We we were outplayed in both halves. Poor defending again. Highgate didn’t turn out a great performance, they were just better than us. You can make the excuse that we were denied a penalty and a goal that was incorrectly (imo) declared offside, but we still played poorly.
I counted 5 yellow cards for Highgate. I hope they don’t always play such unsportsmanlike football.

Highgate played better than we did in the first half, even though they’re a bit dirty.
We were robbed of a penalty about 5 minutes in though.

That’s good advice, thanks. I’ll be much more willing to buy if it’s less than the full price of £37.99. How many of the game features are available in the beta? I saw a video about the new social groups feature. That does look interesting. Do you still get hassled by the press every couple of days linking you with a job at another club? The press are one of my biggest annoyances with FM17. You’d think after 14 years at the same club they’d stop constantly asking me these questions. I’m hoping for improved team-talks too. If i’m winning a game 4-0 at half-time then go on to draw 4-4, the team should not become disheartened and confused when I admonish them for how they played, just because we weren’t considered favourites for the game. This is particularly annoying when all your coaches and Assustant Manager recommend that I should congratulate the team for how they played. It’s just little things like that which i’d want to see improved on. In terms of on-pitch gameplay, the game has improved loads over the years. Much greater tactical options now. The team can play much closer to the style you want them to play. Nelson-Addy is heavily overrated in real life too! Bought Bishop back, he wasn't with the club all throughout. Got Weir and Geddes as youth coaches as well from the old gang. And Matt Gardiner is still assistant manager! I would have kept Hutchinson too, but he suffered from injuries all throughout his career. He retired early at 31. When I took him on as a Coach I think he only did a year before leaving to manage in the Irish Leagues. Most of the players seemed to retire rather than move into non-playing roles though.

That’s pretty impressive then. Especially Bishop still playing at that level in 2032 lol. I really wanted as much of the original 16/17 squad for as long as possible, but once we got to League Two, only Steele and Nelson-Addy were still practical to play.
Comparing the in-game stats to reality is always interesting. Nelson-Addy is heavily overrated in-game.
FM18 came out today, but i don’t know if I will bother to purchase. They only seem to make minor additions to the game every year. I’d have to use the editor to play as Worcester too, and likely none of the players stock photos are in the game since they’re not intended to be played.
Taking City from the Midland Premier to the Premiership would be interesting though.

Just to say there's a real match taking place tomorrow, vitally important to the club that we continue to progress in the Vase. Adaggio the main threat? I was a big fan of Adaggio when he played for City. He’s only 29/30 now (I think), so he’s still got a couple of years of good performances in him. Any team in this division would be lucky to have him. I’m home alone tomorrow, so I think I might just be attending.
