RIP Ron. 94 years of age - hell of a run you had.

I still check this board now and then. I don’t think any other club of our stature even has a forum.

Why? There are other rugby clubs locally. So it’s good news then? Not sure why you would think this isn’t a negative development.

About to enter administration.
More misery for our city. Future is looking really bleak for any young athletes around these parts.

I have no doubt whatsoever that it’s Snape’s doing. I’m sure he thinks that by instructing his lackeys to disrupt the activity on this forum with vulgar messages, that it’ll leave the door open for a ‘saviour’ to come in and restore order. Cue Snape on his white charger to save the day. Taking control of this forum will be his first step to taking control of the Worcester City football club. I expect to see a ‘John Snape’ account here very soon, mark my words.
For those who take life too seriously - I am joking

That would be a good idea. Very few clubs at this level even have a forum, we only do as a throwback to when we were a bigger club. I’m not sure who runs the club Twitter account but it still sees activity. If it was possible to get the occasional shoutout on there then it might see some traffic come this way.

When I first joined, there was a mixture of genuine ‘banter’ as well as the serious posts. The former has completely gone now, as well as a lot of the personalities that used to engage in it.
It just needs a good bit of back and forth conversation, something that will get people to login more regularly and engage. It looks like a lot of users still login, but probably see that there has been little activity and put it out of their mind for a few weeks.

A 3-1 loss, our only goal was an own goal in the first half.
Although we have 3 games in hand, Hanley are now 19 points ahead of us at the top of the table. With automatic promotion most likely off the cards, if we can go on a good run we still have a fair chance of a second place finish and (hopefully) winning our ‘playoff’ game to be promoted that way.

Yes, more so than any other time in the last few years.
Hanley had a bit of a blip a few weeks ago, but recovered well and are going strong again. Our mid-April game against them may be a bit of a nail biter with it being so close to the end of the season.

City up to second now, and Hanley picked up their first loss of the season. With any luck it will have damaged their morale a bit.
Promotion is actually seeming like a possibility, all of a sudden.

Are the portaloos going to be bolted to the floor?
There’s been many instances of this kind of thing happening.

I know it's the only place available but it is awful. Awful is a bit harsh. The paved area leading from the Claines Lane entrance up to the club house end needs to be wider. Once people are stood along it to watch the game others have to walk on uneven, sometimes sloping, and occasionally slippery grass to get where they want to go. Other than that it is a ground suited for this level of football. If we have ambition for promotion, however, Claines Lane will struggle to be fit for purpose. We have very little chance of being promoted anytime soon. I know that a lot of supporters don’t care about this, but I do. It’s disheartening. Maybe a couple of you had a bit of a chuckle over this thread title, but Stone Old Alleynians are our level now. It’ll be them making jokes at our expense soon. Need I remind you all what rhymes with ‘City’?

Geez, no respect to the Old Boys with this thread title.
First goal from Baker was tremendous. Withington put in a good performance in midfield too.

Before Tuesday's game City had played 5 won 2 drawn 2 and lost 1, if you think that's a bad start, then I will have to disagree. The 2 drawn games we should have won, the signs are there for City to do well this season, but it seems that some so called supporters had given up after just the 5 League games. So negative Bit harsh of you tbh. It’s been 4 years since the club was relegated 3 divisions, but the quality on the pitch appears no better than it was during our first season in the Midland prem. You’re right that there’s a lot to be positive about, but it’s understandable why many supporters patience is wearing a bit thin. If they really were “so-called fans”, they wouldn’t still be watching and commenting. The fact that so many are still around shows their dedication. The constant revolving door of players doesn’t help either. The team doesn’t have an identity.

According to a message I received via Facebook or Twitter there will be no replays in either the FA Vase or FA Trophy: not sure about the FA Cup. Tim - don't believe everything you read on Twitter and Facebook - a lot of it is Fake news (as Trump would say!). If City draw with Cov Utd, the reply (I'm told) will be at Claines Lane on Wednesday 11th. It’s an FA Cup game though. The information that he received about the Vase/Trophy was correct.

I see that we have been drawn away to this team in the extra-preliminary round, due to be played August 7th. If memory serves me right there are no replays in the qualifying rounds and presumably, if level at 90 minutes, the game goes to extra-time and then the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Or does it go straight to penalties at 90 minutes? Anybody know for sure? I was under the impression that there were replays, up to and including the fourth round proper. They had cancelled them last season because of covid, but I wasn’t aware that was a permanent change.

We start again next season in the midland premier league with no fewer than 9 new teams involved after the FA restructuring. Congleton is the furthest trip! Midland league premier 2021/22: 1) AFC Wulfrunians (2) Bewdley Town (3) Boldmere St Michael's (4) Congleton Town (5) Hanley Town (6) Haughmond (7) Highgate United (8) Lichfield City (9) Lye Town (10) Racing Club Warwick (11) Romulus (12) Shifnal Town (13) Stone Old Alleynians (14) Stourport Swifts (15) Tividale (16) Uttoexter Town (17) Walsall Wood (18) Whitchurch Alport (19) Wolverhampton Casuals (20) Worcester City FC Too bad we didn’t rename ourselves “AFC Worcester”. Would have been nice to spend at least some time at the top of the table.

I think that City need to put out a statement confirming they won’t be joining this new European Super League. We need to know where we stand.

Can’t see Harris sticking it out for long. Hopefully I’m wrong though, the club needs a bit of stability. The guess who before the announcement looked amateur and backfired when expectations were raised. And just imagine the uproar if Anthony Hampson had appointed Boddy’s best pal. I admire your dedication to your gimmick.

Welcome "superwcfc" - but sadly there is not a lot of "agreeing" or "disagreeing" on here. Not a lot of anything really. This is probably considered an active board for a team of our level now. I had a lot of fun on here when I first joined. If you make an interesting topic, there always seems to be a lot of people in the shadows who will jump out to reply. I suspect there’s a lot of lurkers still, so it’s by no means a dead site.

Interesting hyPOthetical question. Slightly insulting to those who did so much to keep the club alive on those dark, dark days. Anything other than WCFC would just be not WCFC. A few online dictionaries define “hyperthetical” as “excessive, hyperbolic, exaggerated”... maybe it wasn’t a misspelling lol.

The club website says 15:00. Tbf to the guy it did originally say 19:45 on both the club website and on Walsall Wood’s website.

Villa are what I call my ‘TV team’. I very rarely actually go to a game, but I try to keep up to date and I’ll watch whenever they’re on TV.
I don’t think I could follow a professional team full-time though. A lot of that is because of the fans rather than the actual football. Can only listen to someone slagging off VAR so many times before it wears thin.

What happened to South Normanton? They resigned from the Midlands League. Last I heard (6 weeks ago), they were aiming to field a side for the Central Midlands League for next season.

When did you reveal that? I think you will find staff and some players became annoyed with the comments over "lackys" as it could have been aimed at us Most of your posts since then on other matters have been spot on. I had to look back, it was apparently 17th September 2017 in the below thread. citybanterboard.proboards.com/thread/4877/quornAnd yep, you’re quite correct. Once it started to snowball past being just a laugh that I would have after having a few drinks at the pub, when players and staff members started to pay attention, I thought it best to put the joke to bed. Btw, who was it who created the ‘lackey’ user account?

I had a mixed reaction when I revealed I was trolling all along. I think I’ve got on with most people since. Apparently, Preece still holds a grudge. If you’re really not a troll, then let me ask you a question - what shape is the Earth? When did you reveal that? Again, it’s so easy for anyone to troll this forum. Northinmysoul is probably laughing his balls off. I’m surprised that downthelane hasn’t made an appearance yet. Look on my profile, i have been a member for 9 years or so, oh and look i mentioned about Football and Scandinavian teams in the past, but im using football in Norway to stalk CROC why would i suddenly start trolling anyone, grow up will yer, we all remember all the bollocks you were spouting about Snape a few seasons ago, didnt make many friends on here did yer!!!! So ive been on here many years but what would that count for. I had a mixed reaction when I revealed I was trolling all along. I think I’ve got on with most people since.
