I am very sad to report that Kieran has died suddenly in Leeds. A friend for many years and as loyal a supporter of WCFC as it was possible to be.

I am sorry to here this about Kieran. A well travelled and loyal supporter of WCFC. I'm sure the club will recognize the fact at our next home match.

Really sad news indeed. Kieran was one of the good guys and a cracking chap to boot! We had differences of opinion but Kierans opinion was always sound, and he cared a lot about the club and the people involved in the club. We've lost one of out most valued and valuable supporters, I want the club to recognize Kieran, so how about finally putting a name to the terrace at the changing room end - the Mooney Terrace.

He owed me a tenner as well! Not that I'll ever begrudge him that mind, seeing as he was such a nice bloke and, I'm glad to say, a good friend. RIP, a sad day for Worcester City, he'll be missed.

It says a lot about him that people started worrying when he wasn't in Worcester by 1pm yesterday afternoon.
A cracking guy and good friend. RIP mate. Jem, that would be an excellent tribute.

Very sad news. All too rare that you find people who can dedicate themselves the way Kieran did to Worcester City, especially undertaking a 200 mile round trip each time to do so. A true supporter.
RIP

Likewise, Rob, but yesterday I just assumed he was busy doing something on behalf of the Club , or spending the game talking to someone and hadnt made it around to the Brookside. I'm in shock about this at the moment.
Indeed, Kieran was a Worcester City supporter through and through and at this stage I cannot imagine the Brookside terrace without him being there. Or receiving his succession of texts from the back end of beyond on a Tuesday night.

I'm stunned and upset. I had my differences with him as well, but he was always amiable and ... well just "there", no matter where we played. But no longer. A really sad loss.

Really sad to hear that Kieran has passed away. He was a really decent guy and a dedicated supporter of the club. I know he did an awful lot behind the scenes, particularly his hard work on the club website, and I know the club will want to pay a fitting tribute to the man.
Rest in Peace Kieran, WCFC will miss you greatly.

Likewise, Rob, but yesterday I just assumed he was busy doing something on behalf of the Club , or spending the game talking to someone and hadnt made it around to the Brookside. I was talking to Preston during the first half of yesterday's game and we had the same conversation, "he'll be here somewhere, and gossiping to someone around the ground". R.I.P Kieran

Kieron was one of those guys who was always around and who I saw many times without really knowing who he was. I am now very glad indeed that I became friends with him over the last couple of seasons and enjoyed his company. Travelled on the bus with him from Langley Mill Station to Eastwood last Saurday, along with Simon from Bromley, then we had a couple of pints in the pub by the ground.Very glad to have done that. RIP

I think my residing memory of Kieron was whilst waiting for Neils to peddle into Staines with Daz B in Wetherspoons. He was sat there with his lappy and USB stick trying to get a signal and keeing the web site up to date evry 5 minutes with the progress of the bike ride whilst Daz and I were supplying him with ale. Well he couldn't leave his 'phone or lappy in case he missed an update Will be very sadly missed and yes a great tribute to name something after him within the ground he loved. He was certainly a working bee who deserves such a tribute. Even if it is the KM burger bar I am sure he would appreciate it and we must have a minutes applause for him Vs Solihull Moors.

This was very shocking news to wake up to this morning. I haven't been able to get to a game yet due to cricket commitments, but was planning to do so soon in the next couple of weeks and would have no doubt had a chat or a beer with KM as part of my awayday experience.
The club has lost one of its biggest supporters and a great fella to boot.
A really sad day.

Stunned. Just saw the news on the Non-League Forum. Lovely bloke and had the pleasure of meeting him on a number of occasions. Kieron for me summed up non-league football. When the fixtures come up there are a few teams where I think "Brilliant, I will meet x,y and z". Kieron was one of them. I sincerely hope that Worcester City FC have a minute's silence or applause at the next home game.

I heard the sad news from Matt, landlord of the Plough, while in there with Simon from Bromley last night. Kieran often stayed at the Plough when he was in Worcester and I have spent many a Saturday night after the football enjoying a drink there in his company. I will also miss having a pre-match drink with him at away games and will raise a glass in his memory at whatever hostelry in Altrincham I'm in before next week's game. I think he would like that. RIP Kieran.

Shocking news - knew him for years (even in his old role as a West Midlands League Referee). Lovely bloke who couldn't do enough for you if asked.
One story that summed the bloke up was when he was on the refereeing circuit around the West Midlands - he always used to travel by car with the other match officials. When asked if he wanted dropping back at home after the game - he always used to decline - as he'd arranged to meet some of his drinking friends for a pub survey around the local area where he had been refereeing that afternoon, always traveling back on the public bus or train last thing at night. His "little black book" of pubs he kept in his kit bag was legendary.
Non-league football and local refereeing have lost a great servant.
If anyone hears of arrangements for the funeral can they let me know so I can pass the details onto his old refereeing colleagues.

I was just going to say croc, he was a good ref too!! Very rare indeed, and also a good advisor of refs, including your good self. I remember a long chat with Kieran both before and after a game you did for us at Wychbold, its rare to find someone able to talk so passionately about players, refs (and also certain hot-headed managerial assistants!) and make perfect sense!!

I stopped going to watch Worcester City back a couple of years ago but i always stayed in contact with Mr Mooney. A master of getting to games on public transport on the cheap (which i asked him always to find me the cheapest too) & will always get to the games in anyway possible. One that springs to mind was hitch hiking from Leeds to Kettering a few seasons back. A true football follower & was very easy to chat to for hours on end.
Naming of the 'Changing Rooms End' to the 'Kieran Mooney Terrace/Stand' is a fantastic tribute. Will never forget the old fart always in his Worcester City shirt..
Just a true gentleman & a lovely chap. RIP Kieran Mooney, WCFC has lost a great.

Christ, I'm really shocked to hear that! I spoke to him (now, it would appear, sadly for the last time) at the Nuneaton game I think it was, and asked if we deserved the points at Eastwood.
Travelled back from Barrow with him a few years ago, on the bus as the rail services were disrupted, and had a long talk to him then.
Rest in peace my friend, and rise in glory.

Kieran came forward and volunteered to do something for the Club at a time at a time when WCFC really needed all the friends it could get. Some people who contribute here knew him better than I did, equally some City fans won't have known him at all. But what I do know is that, like so many volunteers, Kieran probably spent far more hours working behind the scenes than we appreciate, add to that the time he spent travelling to and from games and that's a huge amount of dedication.
Kieran was probably around the same age as myself and many others who have posted here, that's what makes this news all the more sad.
