"...but could be carried over to a new ground." I wouldn't want my name sullied by attaching to any aspect of NW. I think there's a case to name everything there (which won't be much) after Dave Boddy so no one ever forgets who screwed the whole thing up. Except he's so dense he would probably see it as an honour. such a pity his name appears in the same thread as a proper decent ambassador for WCFC like Kieran. But a good idea all the same

I don't see a problem with naming the changing room end at SGL the Mooney Terrace, and it wouldn't matter one jot that it wouldn't be a long lasting tribute; in fact the temporary nature of the honour works quite well because you won't get a situation in 20 years time when KM's name is largely forgotten and the name is meaningless. For example, in my youth there was an old disabled supporter called Sid Cale (I think) who lived in Comer Road and went to every game home and away. He could easily have merited the sort of recognition being suggested to Kieran, but there would only be a few of us around now who would remember him.
On a different tack I am afraid there is no progress on a date for the funeral.

I gather that a number of City and other fans had been in contact with the non-league show, and as a result I was asked today if I would speak about Kieran as a City and non-league fan on the show this evening. Here is the link to the podcast www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/nonleagueSelect tonight's show, and the piece is at the end, starting at around 1.00.30 (ie just after an hour into the show). It lasts about 3 minutes. While it was not possible to recount many of your reminisensces in the time available, I hope that I have conveyed some of the essence of Kieran in a befitting manner.

Hi Andy, I heard the interview last night and thought you got it just about right in the time allowed. I am sure Kieran would have been chuffed.

Well done, Andy - super tribute.
Kieran's sister has been in Leeds. Cause of death confirmed as heart attack. Date for funeral in Worcester will be set soon.

Andy, I think your interview did a very commendable job of summing up a huge amount in a short time. Not easy, and well done for doing it.

I've barely been to a game in the last 2-3 years and my postings on this board can only be described as sporadic at best. However whilst I only knew Kieran to say nod and smile to, I am still very, very saddened to hear of his passing. Football and in particular Non-League football need people like Kieran for their passion, commitment and never waning support through thick and thin. I've seen Kieran so often at away games over the years that I am sure that over the weeks, months and years to come the absence of such a dedicated supporter will be quite telling for all those who knew him and for all those who had grown used to his consistent presence.

Could anyone please tell me what version of 'Time is Tight' that was played at Kieran's funeral on Friday?
Obviously not the usual arrangement played at the Lane, but one that seemed just right for the occasion.
Thanks in advance
Andy

Very shocked to learn the sad news of the death of Kieran Mooney. I stumbled across the news whilst searching the internet in an attempt to find another old pal, Colin Shanahan (also from Worcester)!! The three of us met when we were eleven years old at Sacred Heart College in Droitwich, that was 1968! Kieran was a lovely lad and it comes as no surprise to read the many tributes to his fine character. I knew him as a quiet shy lad and a very gentle person, it is just sad that we did not manage to get together again. Whilst Kieran's death is premature, I can report that he nearly died forty years ago in a drowning accident beneath the railway bridge crossing over the River Severn in Worcester! There were only three lads in the class that could not swim and they were myself, Colin and Kieran!! Kieran accidentally fell into the river after school one day, fully clothed, including a winter overcoat. He was being swept down-stream and was drifting away from the bank. Colin ran off to get help and it was clear that he was going to drown. A short way further down the bank, a fisherman had left his rod unattended, I used the rod to reach out to Kieran, on what I believed was to be the final time he re-surfaced for air, before, being taken by the river. Fortunately for us all, Kieran managed to get hold of the rod and a passing man with more strength than us, hauled him onto the bank. My condolences go out to all who knew Kieran and I am a poorer person for not having had more time with him.
