I think some people were right with "Who?" But then again we said that with George Rooney A man with no baggage which is good, so Good Luck Mr Dryden, this is a big opportunity to create a name for yourself, take it and enjoy it!!

Interesting that his career has been southern and midland based. Hopefully his contacts for players will also be from this area. Another era dawns. The King is back, long live the King.

Congragulations on your appointment, Richard.
You come from out of the blue to many of us, but we hope that over the years you'll become a popular name.
It may be tough to start with, but if you can bring some degree of success you stand to inherit the greatest change in the Football Club's circumstances in 100 years. Make yourself be there for that, and carry the Club's players forward with you. They are mostly young, and they will be part of that if they deliver also. The Club's supporters will have an occasional whinge about this and that but that is because most of us care as much as anyone else about the Club.
In having King Carl at your side, you have a real legend, and I wish you you both the best of good fortune. We look forward to seeing the results of your endeavours.

Are you both still playing?
(or, does anyone know yet if Richard Dryden might put his boots on, last seen at Shepshed Dynamos? Is Carl going to go for the 600?). I suspect no on both counts, but it is worth asking.

I'm looking forward to getting behind the new management team; shrewd move to bring Carl back to the Lane as assistant.

And finally from me tonight, the only other Dryden I know of progressed his career by starting with 'Annus mirabilis' at the beginning, through 'The medal' and culminated with 'Fables, Ancient and Modern'.
Same again, please!

Good Luck Richard. We'll hopefully meet you on Saturday at the fans forum. Good to see Carl back - even I'm old enough to remember The King!

I think this could turn out to be a very good appointment. Dryden has played at every level with 15 clubs so will have plenty of contacts at both professional and non-league level as well as the drive to make a success of his first managers post. Added to that he will have King Carl at his side. It will be great to see Carl back.

Yes it will be great to see Carl back...
As it was JB....
Stanty.......
Carts......
"Wheeling and Dealing" required.
Brooky wrote "a man with no baggage" - er.. so what precisely does that mean about the new gaffer's assistant then? He's a 'dolly trolley'??
I remember the rhetoric with Preece's arrival.... thankfully this is of a lower tone.
BS North survival is priority No.1 and I really can't stomach the madness of play-off predictions now the club has a new 'Boss'

Dare you Wakey - tell the King he's a "Trolley Dolly" Its a brave move, and a bit if a gamble, but its a clean slate. No-one can compare what he does at City with anywhere else, he's got to be his own man, and be very very strong. At least you can say he's never worked with a big budget, and what you've never had, you never miss. Yes, lets forget about play-offs, and new grounds, and think about winning football matches.

I just hope the board of directors have got it right this time? But must say with no Managerial experience other than limited Assistant Managerial experience is he the right man for the job, only time will tell. Hope he can prove himself as a new Manager & lead us to glorious times ahead. Welcome to the lane Richard & welcome back King Carl. I am sure that you will both get a very warm welcome by everyone at the lane on Saturday. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Is King Carl just Assistant or is he Player Assistant.
Great if Player Assistant him and Smithy at back might just be what we need.

I hope Carl is just the assistant manager, the last thing I want to see is a shadow of his former regal self in the defence. He will probably be the last ever Lane Legend, lets keep it that way, he'll have a tough enough job to do in his management role.

Yeah i never thought of it in that way, i was just making the point that the King is better than most of our defense.

Last Lane legend? I would have though Danny isnt far off being one.
what is the criteria for being a legend?

I cant say the prospect of who and another former Lane star has filled this long suffering supporter with joy.
Interviews are one thing a proven track record quite another.
I am sorry if this unusually negative but thats just the feeling I have about this. It smacks of a cheap option with an easy get out clause to me.
I can only wish them luck and I will be there to see the first match of thenew era on Saturday.
