your old boss, preece, was at holker st last tuesday night, dont really know that much about him apart from he lives in blackpool and managed you lot for nearly 3 seasons.
i like the way we are going about things at the mo with the caretakers, if one of them took the helm, sherridan said he wants it. i wouldnt be upset, but burscough's watson who was sent to the stands by the ref, is a good possibility.

I've got to say it looks like a wasted opportunity to me with at least 2 better qualified candidates out there. I hope I'm proved wrong but it looks like another Phil Lines. Maybe we couldn't get anybody else?

Last Lane legend? I would have though Danny isnt far off being one. what is the criteria for being a legend? You have to be in possession of a folder

Yes exactly, Carl has a folder, but i don't think Danny will quite get a folder, he hasn't got one yet.

I cant say the prospect of who and another former Lane star has filled this long suffering supporter with joy. Interviews are one thing a proven track record quite another. I am sorry if this unusually negative but thats just the feeling I have about this. It smacks of a cheap option with an easy get out clause to me. I can only wish them luck and I will be there to see the first match of thenew era on Saturday. Yes very often in all walks of life, you don't get the best man for the job, you get the guy who interviewed the best, which is something completely different. with football managers though, you may as well put all the names in a hat, and go with the first name pulled out, it really is such a lottery.

The jury will be out for me over this appointment, I will see how it go's,and I hope for Carl's sake it works out.

Colin
Indeed, the jury has to be out. It cant be any other way.
But, if you can imagine the checklist of criteria the Board may have used, it would probably run something like this:
a) Proven or potential management capacity at CN level b) A qualified coach (badges etc) c) Current employment position means Club does not have to pay a 'buy-out' fee d) Good contacts at non-league level in the Midlands area e) Contacts with higher-level Clubs in the Midlands area f) Based reasonably local to Worcester g) Experience in bringing on young players h) Clear motivation (ie first job, wants to do well, understands what is needed if he is to be part of longer-term prospects) i) Able to build upon current squad within prevailing budget j) Some knowledge of what may be needed for Conference football k) How to handle the expectations of a club like Worcester (Tamworth are not dissimilar) l) Management style - tea-cups R out, dialogue is in.
I guess he would tick most of those boxes.

I think this is a courageous appointment and as someone else has said above he won''t have the baggage of a "name".
I am also really glad all the armchair pundits who said something along the lines of "I have it on good authority it'll be Steve Bull, Jan Molby, etc. etc." are proven to be totally wrong.
Here's wishing and hoping the new team all the success in the world.
Incidentally, I know he was born in Stroud, but where is he based?

The appointment does have a bit of an air of 'Death or Glory' about it - probably because RD is new to the top job and new to the club.
But all things considered I think 'Glory' is much the more likely - and I'll back that opinion with as much volume as I can muster on Saturday!

He was playing for Shepshed Dynamo recently after leaving Tamworth, so I guess he would be fairly local to there, as I can't imagine anyone not local to Shepshed playing for them!

Good but still not a patch on my favourite.
One of the organisers of Upton Folk Festival is Pat Cox of Minge Lane.
