Have just been informed that WCFC Club President Dr Mike Sorensen, has sadly resigned as a director and president of Worcester City Football Club.
Dr Sorensen handed his formal written notice of resignation to Chairman Dave Boddy yesterday at St Georges Lane.
Mike will be issuing a statement to the press tomorrow to outline his reasons for leaving.
This is a massive blow to the club and a very sad situation.
Thank you Mike for your many years of hard work and dedication for the club.

Thanks Doc for all of the hard work put in in the past and especially in trying to broker a deal to save our club. Only leaves the rats to abbandon now.

Sadly inevitable once the Doc's compromise plan was so foolishly kicked into touch by the Board.

Well done to the Doc!
He's done a lot of good work and is a shame to see him go from that angle but also seems to show what he thinks of the current situation. I just hope that if/when a new board is in place that he can come back to work with them.
Will be good to see what he has to say to the press tomorrow.

I look forward to hearing what the Doc has to say in his statement tomorrow. I do not wish to pre-empt anything which may be said regarding the present Board by the Doc, however, I would say that the Doc has stood head and shoulders above the rest of the circus clowns in the last few months, the only Director serious about change, the only Director prepared to be open and prepared to work with supporters, volunteers, shareholders and investors alike.
He's done wonders since taking the reigns many many years ago, made loads of mistakes, recognised those mistakes, and remedied them, but was always prepared to listen to others around him, outside of the Boardroom.
This is a real shame, but he deserves a break, and he leaves with his reputation in tact, with integrity and with honour. I have the utmost respect for Mike, and I wish him all the best.

Totally agree with the above posts. Thanks for all your hard work Doc.
I now hope that his statement tomorrow starts to reveal the truth and turns more heads to the reality of what is going on.
I suspect the tide may tuen fully tomorrow. At least I hope so

I hope so as well, but I've been disappointed in the past when people have resigned and then not talked openly about their reasons. We need people to speak up and tell it like it is. If the public at large can hear it from Doc's mouth then the tide may well indeed turn.

Ive a feeling that no amount of the chairman's apples will keep this doctor away from spilling the beans, he knows just how bad things are.

I can only echo some of the comments made above. Dr Sorenson tried his hardest to broker a compromise between the Board of Directors and the Shareholder Action Group and was stabbed in the back by his fellow directors who rejected the compromise offer that was on the table.
Dr Sorenson has been a tremendous servant of Worcester City FC as long as I have supported them, and I am very sad that things have got so bad in the Boardroom that he felt he had to resign. I look forward to reading the reasons for his resignation and also hope that people will finally wake up to how serious the problems at the club are.
This truly is a boddy blow to the Worcester City chairman.

I have only spoken to the Doc once and I found him to be delightful. I can imagine he must have wrestled with his conscience about walking away, but he has done the right thing.

If it goes to the Worcester News we can look forward to Steve Carley and his chums sweeping it under the carpet, like they have the rest of the Clubs problems. The Companies House website (at least they still have one) has not acknowledged receipt of the accounts for 2006/07, despite the Chairman assuring me that they had been submitted in the last few weeks. Perhaps the website takes a while to catch up, who knows. The Club's own announcements confirm that there is only £3.5m to build a stadium at NW, we all know that this is nowhere near enough to build anything worth having, but the WN do not probe this. Still no planning application for the new stadium (we were told July at the Shareholders meeting). 4 directors have resigned this year now and yet are the Worcester News trying to save the club and alert the public at large to the impending crisis? Are they hell, they are busy assisting with potentially unlawful promotions on behalf of the Club. It makes me sick and I will not ever pay for that rag again.

"....there is only £3.5m to build a stadium at NW." Will there be that much even? If more loans are secured (as rumoured) then that amount falls further. But then there will be extra fees for "consultants", and legal costs to pay. Why are some advisers still promoting this dead project? Could it be they sniff a big pay day at the end? And then I'm sure some directors will present bills for their "services" during the sale and ground move. £3.5m? I doubt it.

This is the chance for the WN to start asking some serious questions of this board. If the answers confirm they are capable and above board fine. If not they should pursue the story - after all it's a big local issue.

Once Dr Mike Sorenson's statement is released (should be at some point today I believe), can it please be published on this thread (or another on this forum) as the official website is still offline and I am sure everyone would like to see it.

To cap it all, the boss and subsequently the players have not been told of the Doc's departure! A very frustrated RD has had to phone around to find out what the crack is! He has now found this message board and read the story on here!
This is totally unacceptable behaviour from the board.
Richard deserves a damn sight better treatment than that!

Strikes me as there are/were only three men of integrity involved at the higher end, and with the Doc now leaving that leaves only Richard Dryden and Carl Heeley. They, and us, all deserve better. Thank you Doc for at least trying. There wouldn't have been a club a long time ago without your efforts. There may not be one soon unless action is taken pfq.

the really annoying thing is that there is a very real alternative to all this! Its not that we dont have options.
We wont have if it drags on much longer. FACT!

There is now a brief report of the Doc's resignation on the WEN website with statements from the Doc and the Board to follow (allegedly!)

Most sorry to see the resignation of the Doc who i think of as a man of integrity and a great servant to the club. Lets hope he will still be prepared to return at a later date. Was not sure which of the two factions it was credible to believe over the last few months, but it is obvious now that the present board that are still left have lost all credibility and should resign now to allow a new regime to take over, and the sooner the better!

A short statement that says so much - even Carley & WN might take notice now.
Nothing from the ringmaster, I see, yet.

“But I just can’t be involved with the decision-making when I disagree with the decision being made.” - Doc Sorenson
The most damning line to Boddy and his cronies in a short statement which must surely blow apart any credibility the current board has with Worcester City supporters. He has obviously done a lot of soul searching prior to his resignation but, as a man of principle, it is undoubtedly the correct one. The Doc is one of the main reasons why we have a football club to support following the Connolly era and for that reason alone he will always have a place in City supporters hearts.

Please be very careful with postings on here - there are certain powers overseeing messages looking for an opportunity to swoop like eagles of the legal kind on posters, they are operating under instruction.

I have to say even I am surprised at how damning Dr Sorenson's assessment is. How the Board of Directors can cling on to power now, I have no idea. Just four directors left now(Boddy, Prescott, Brown and Partridge), would the last one out turn off the light, we won't be able to afford the electric bill otherwise.
