Yes I agree
I would suspect (hope) there are one or two slightly embarrassed City players right now

I don't blame him. Would have liked him to go under better circumstances but football management doesn't often work like that.. Good luck Carl, we'll always remember the good times. To paraphrase Casablanca, "we'll always have The Ricoh.

He had to go. If it starts to affect homelife then it's right to step aside. I'm sure it's not a decision he made easily. Maybe a break from the game will do him good. I would personally like to thank him for hard work he's put into the job & wish him well for the future. Those magical few weeks in late 2014 will never be forgotten.

I've suggested to Carl that he takes a break from football and gets an allotment. However , Vicky has got him lined up for 6 months worth of painting. She's the Gaffer now!! A break from football is just what he needs, Carl leaves with his head held high. As always, a man of honesty, integrity and class.

I think it's the right decision for himself and the club. Good luck in the future. Amazing memories from Coventry and Scunthorpe for all city fans. Carl has tried his best, especially under the circumstances, and although I admit I have questioned many of his decisions and tactics, he does love the club, but we do need to try something different. If it doesn't work then so be it.

Totally understand why Carl has taken this decision but I have to say that I'm absolutely disgusted by the abuse handed out to him and his family in recent weeks. It doesn't need discussing that the performance yesterday was awful at best but no one would have been hurting more than Carl. This man has achieved miracles with no budget whatsoever compared to our competitors and it is an unbelievable achievement to have kept us in the league let alone gone on 2 incredible cup runs. I accept that anyone who pays at the gate has the right to an opinion - but the lack of respect for someone who has selflessly given so much to the club is disgusting - well you've got what you wished for and undoubtedly you have a well thought out plan for the future because to have forced this without would be the work of idiots - hmmm hold on

If it doesn't work then so be it. Try something different ? To achieve what?? Carl has achieved the goals set for the last 8 seasons. During that time he's seen the club haemorrhage £6 million of assets, lose their ground with no plans in place for a new one. In the circumstances Carl has massively over achieved. If there are genuinely fans on here with expectations of promotion, you must have spent the last few years living in a hole in the ground! Every season you get the same people moaning about a lack of signings. Wake up FFS, players coming to City are choosing us as their last choice. We get the leftovers to pick over. And somehow, through sheer hard work, Carl gets a team together to perform, usually punching way above their weight. And still it's not good enough for so many. Well, you just don't know what you've got till you lose it.

A man, an icon....a f*cking legend !
Year on year he got slated but always achieved the goal set by the club.
He gave us Coventry, Scunthorpe and Sheff United.
He gave us Geddes, Williams, Nti, Symo etc
Who next?

Dryden need not apply either Unfortunately Andy Preece has been the choice for a few people prior to Carl leaving...now what did he do that Carl didnt ? Hackett for me if it appeals or maybe Worcester based Dean Holdsworth.....whoever comes in / applies will want much morw than Carl is on thats for sure

King Carl should get freedom of the city.
I suppose there will be plenty of muppets who will think managing WCFC would be an "opportunity". Little do they know what they are letting themselves in for. And it will be this board who will select the next manager. This bunch of incompetents who have got us into this mess in the first place. They wouldn't recognise a suitable replacement if they met one.

It means someone will actually have to do something. Anyway apart from that it looks like the idiots have won. I think Carl has worked miracles for season after season. I wish him all the best.

It's time "fans" realised that this isn't WCFC. It's called WCFC, the team wear WCFC's strip but it isn't WCFC.
Not because we are in exile, not because we have lost SGL, but because the club is being run by people who don't care less about WCFC. They had no plan for our ground sale; they have no plan today; they have no plan for the future. They just want to wring as much of the remaining funds from the corpse as possible. Why else would they cling to power when there's a group of sincere and capable supporters willing to help, and even take over if requested?
This is not WCFC.

I am so sorry to see Carl go: however, when it starts to affect your home life, then football ain't that important.
However, I must say I was dismayed to hear chants of "Heeley out" at Whaddon Road. When I looked to see who it was what I saw was a group of youths, who, when not chanting that, were chanting "Hampson out" or singing "We're sh*t and we know we're sh*t or goading Gloucester supporters. I don't see how any of that helps the team on the pitch. Teenagers now - hooligans in a year or two's time. We don't want them at our games.
I'd just like to thank Carl for all he's done for the club over the years. People are fickle and soon forget that this is a man who's face was shattered at Mangotsfield in the FA Cup and had to be re-built and who most of us thought would never play again. That he did is testament to his guts and spirit. I wish him and Vicky and their family well.

Lets think back a while..... A long unbeaten league and cup run in 2014, An away win at Coventry,a former Premier League club and still 3 leagues above us, An away draw at Scunthorpe from the same level, then at Aggborough on 120 minutes we were still level, only to be beaten by the F A Cup record breaking penalty shoot out. The following season another cup run only to lose at Sheffield United who are probably the biggest club outside the top 2 divisions. All of this has been done on probably the smallest budget in our league and no home ground. In modern times even getting to 7 years as a manager is a big achievement.I would imagine that once you are in the job,it completely takes over your life and gives you little time for anything else.
Personally I'd like to thank Carl for everything he's done for the club both as manager and player and wish him all the best for the future in whatever he decides to do. Somebody suggested taking on an allotment, well he could start by planting some vegetables on Cheltenham's pitch, thers plenty of room there due to the lack of grass!!!

The board listening, are you having a laugh. When the public vote went against them at the meeting ,they didn't listen then so why should they now, they are deaf to the true supporters wishes

Mark Owen? As far as I know he's had no managerial experience and now is not the right time to experiment.

Owen manages Droitwich Spa doesn't he?
I am not clued into other local managers.. But Gary Hackett seems to be onto a good thing at Stourbridge - not sure City will be of interest to him. Liam McDonald would've been a great choice but we are 12 months too late now he's gone to Solihull.
Wayne Thomas, as Verner mentions, has good coaching credentials and is a leader on the pitch at least.
Maybe Jackman and Snape will get some time to see what they can do. At least they know the players and what they are / aren't capable of.

We should! But the numpties come along here, spout a few garbage platitudes, insist that we are wrong for not "supporting the lads" and soon disappear, and those of us thick skinned enough to take the flak, and believe in what we believe in, we keep going! Where were they when we needed them supporting BDS? nowhere to be seen!
