We are home to (wait for it!) Whitby Town or Northwich Victoria!
Almost inevitably it'll be Northwich and a City v Preece grudge match!
Match to be played 11th December.
Harriers away to Wrexham and Redditch away to Grimsby Town.

Too much spice for my liking! I'd have liked somebody easier; Northwich are going well in Evostik Premier this season and were top at one time.
Still, after Saturday anyone will do.

Just read that Andy Preece has made a few appearances for Vics this season as of player shortages, it's the first time he has played minutes for three years, let's hope he comes up against Elvins or Clyde.
Although I would love to have them and beat them looking at their league table I'd prefer Whitby as they are towards the bottom, love to progress and travel to Darlington and beat Cooper and Dryden and I'd pretty much seal the season there and then!!

I hope it's Whitby, because then everyone can concentrate on the football, rather than the sideshow of the Preece/Morrison return.

Quite right GTB. The thought of Morrison back at the Lane makes me feel queasy.

Nice one there for Des Lyttle's Tamworth, as he pits his wits, and team against his old boss! And Newport have dropped lucky with a home game against one of the lowest placed side's left.

Well done Preston; I suspect you might bump into a certain Carl Heeley and a certain Mark Clyde somewhere among the crowd!
We look forward to a detailed analysis of the opposition.

I think we will have whitby , whitby only lost once in 5 games now and preecey has selection problems at the back with 3 defenders not available,

I can give you an analysys of the opposition now. There will be 11 of them, a couple of bricklayers, a plumber, some students and a guy who used to play the game as a pro. The majority will have nicknames formed by putting a "y" sound on the end of their surnames, even if they already end on a Y They will work hard, run around a lot, but not necessarily have played the best football. They will be the team that has been least cheated by the cheating effing ref! Or got away with more dodgy decisions. Hopefully Clydey and Heeley'y will get what they need out of the game.

And in the home dugout there will be two men, one of whom has the requisite nickname ending in -Y who, like many managers at this level played the game at a higher standard than those he's managing, while his assistant with a four letter nickname suggesting he has Scottish ancestry, will be on the lookout for anyone saying or doing anything derogatory, so he can take them by the throat and pin them up against the nearest wall.

Pendulum's repeated posts, surely! No problem with Preecey as we were at school together. And fairly, er, unique at the time! AM, well a question-mark against him, but at least he doled out appropriate retribution to a certain 'cretin'....

Decided to take in the game this evening, a now regret it !!
Whitby for their part played football for the first 20 mins or so. Northwich played typical Preecey football in the first half lumping it up to the tall number 9 who tried to flick on to those running through. Both sides pretty much cancelled one another out.
2nd half started the same before AP took off the lump up front and NV started to play some football. Whitby didn't like people running at them and NV started to get the upper hand, although it seemed like neither side would ever score!
Fortunately in the 3rd min of 4 added minutes a cross from the NV left was scrambled into the Whitby net. Thank god there wasn't extra time !!!
Overall we know what to expect on the 11th, Preecey will lump it to the big man bypassing the midfield (Probably our strongest area). We will need to make sure our centre backs can turn quickly, and then if they need to the will push 4 up front as the game stretches out and players tire.

Damn; I would have preferred Whitby. However, we must take whatever comes. There will be two extra spectators at the next Monday night game against Corby.

I don't care who we play, its at home, its against a team lower in the league structure than us, you cant ask for more! All we have to think about is our game.

Agreed; the Preece/Morrison sideshow could become a distraction for spectators and players alike.
Let's hope Carl can keep the players focussed on the job in hand.
Previous results against Northwich Victoria in the F A Trophy:-20th March 1982 : lost 1-2 away in the QF (Kevin Tudor scoring)
6th February 1999: lost 0-1 away in Round 4
So we have a score to settle: could it be 3rd time lucky?
