Short term they should play Matt Dinsmore. We've lost the last 2 games 3-0. What have we got to lose a third game!

If this figure of 200k is correct, I'd question how much is paid in expenses rather than "for playing!. With so many players from up north in the squad we must pay hell of a lot out for travelling! Surelt there are decent players in the midlands area who would cost much less on expenses, therefore freeing more cash up for playing - therefore a larger squad can be created. Maybe I.m missing a point here, but for instance, how much is Cleggy costing the club, (wages and expenses). Get more locally based players in and travelling expenses reduce for away games as well 'cos they can travel on the bus from Worcester! Makes simple cost effective sense to me

There's no if about it, I think the playing staff wages and expenses in 2005 was £230k'ish, thats is what was reported in the accounts. Its not a massive amount of money so I wouldn't get uptight about it in terms of expenses. I don't think they are likely to be that high in relation to players wages. If 10 players take £40 expenses from 20 games, then thats still only 8 grand.
