We had a good game, played well,if Boston are still full time they are not a very good side,I will give man of the match to Danks, not just for his goal but the way he kept his head when the Boston players tried hard to get him to blow with all the fouls on him.

Yes Colin, Danks was a marked man today. But he got his own back by scoring a worthy winner.
Not a bad referee for a change. He allowed the advantage well.
But can King Carl keep up the pace. His booking was caused by his old legs being so slow.
But to be fair to him he didn't look out of place.

Excellent performance today from city. Very hard not to praise everyone, Cleggy seemed quiet but he did some fantastic tackles. Shabby had some howlers in the first half yet was fantastic in the second. I was rather concerned to see Carl playing but he did himself proud. Excellent all round expecially Webby - man possessed today.
I had no doubts that RD would turn things around and boy is he doing a grand job.
Keep it up lads. Play offs here we come!

Boston are no pushover Colin, they were pretty nifty down the left wing. They certain were off very quickly on the break but we were the better team and got the result we deserved

Very encouraging today. We've stepped up a gear all over the pitch and are playing well as a unit. The spirit is high and the effort can't be faulted. Some really nice football played at times and we were well worth the win. It doesn't feel like we will concede every time we're attacked now. The extra man in the middle of the park has taken the pressure off our back line. Very difficult to pick a man of the match as I thought so many did well. Price again was very involved and his free kicks were a real threat - and lead to the equaliser; Clarke was great; Craig was excellent, but Danks probably nicked it for me. He never stopped running and didn't get goaded into a sending off.
However a great team effort, well organised and good to watch. Another comeback under Dryden! Great spirit, well done all at SGL.

A tremendous win. Boston shaded the first half and when they scored I feared the worst, but what an instant riposte. From then on in City looked the likely winners; commitment all over the pitch. A fitting reward for the team in general and Danks in particular. Dreat stuff, City.

A great result to lift us to the the giddy heights of 8th place. A more solid look to the team especially after half time.
First 15 minutes were nearly all City without creating too much and the rest of the half was Boston. Shabs error nearly cost us dear but King Carl and Clarke played soundly and the centre of defence looked the best I've seen it for some time.
Second half was a bit of a repeat of Barrow - we passed the ball around nicely and with purpose except we kept it up right to the end despite conceding from an excellent strike which I think Belford had little chance of getting to. Very pleasing to see us pass it around and with Danks and Wilding moving superbly there was always space.
In midfield Nwadike, Price and Clegg played with great discipline to protect the back four and allowed Webby to sneak forward and add his presence in attack.
The balance of the team was good, the effort was undeniable and the result - although Bostson will feel aggrieved not have takena point - was well deserved.
Bostson werer well organised and proved didfficult to break down but in Mark Danks we had a man with enough skill to snaffle a winner when a lesser man might not.
Up the City!

A great result yesterday and fully deserved by all the team. Also Good to see Cartz involved as well, I for one hope he is part of the clubs future. :-0)

Agree with everything said; I really enjoyed that on a bitterly cold afternoon. What is Richard Dryden feeding them I wonder? I can hardly believe this is the same team that lost 4-0 to Nuneaton. Performances all over the park, Webby back to something like his best, Danks and Price superb, but invidious to single out individuals when this was essentially a team performance. Richard has certainly injected some fighting spirit in there.
Danksi deserves commendation, as already mentioned, for taking so much stick and yet not retaliating. At one point he had two Boston players wrapped round his ankles and couldn't move, yet it was Clegg who came across and started the handbags.
The team spirit is perhaps exemplified by Cameron Belford sprinting the length of the pitch to join in the celebrations for Danks's winner.
C'mon City!

Why moan?, when they have provided something that a few years ago didn't excist. I missed the game, due to unforseen circumstances, and think it is bloody marvellous that I can see the highlights on my computer, even though I have to imagine the missing 2 seconds between the ball arriving with Danksy and it being in the back of the net.

Tim, and those others near the dug outs, what's Dryden's pitch side manner like? Does he swear and bellow much?

He does swear; but not anything like the previous incumbent. He doesn't bellow, but he does make himself heard. He is continually urging the players on, praises those who do something he likes and bollocks those who don't. One of his favourite phrases seems to be "keep your shape". He seems to have a ready eye for opportunities and "get in the hole behind the number *" was heard more than once on Saturday.
I know it's early days but I am quite impressed.

He does shout a bit but its all positive stuff, at the fans forum he was asked if he thought he would be a lucky manager and I guess that his comments to the team near the ens suggests that he will be a lucky manager, as the teams faced up for a Boston Goal kick with the scores level RD shouted to the team to "your the better team, go on and win it now"

Wayne - that is a great addition to the website these last two matches, especially for those unable to make it to the match. Even for those of us who were there it's great to relive those moments. Keep up the good work.
And on another topic, just in case we thought Boston were full-time read this from the Conference North forum:-

I agree about the importance of video, Geoff Lines (brother of Phil) is the main man behind Soccer X and he does a great job of covering non league.
The club have tried a number of times to get the games filmed but for one reason or another it usually only lasts for a limited time.
If anyone has any ideas or would like to help out with this then DB would love to hear from you.

Its a great service and I am always delighted when they chose to video the City (well almost - i can't bring myself to watch the video nasty that is the home match v Nuneaton!!!)
