I read in the WN that Andy Preece is claiming that he was sacked and is seeking compensation from the Club in respect of the outstanding period of his contract.
I realise that contracts have to be honoured and that employees have rights but where does he think City can dredge up the cash to pay him off? I hope someone gives him a job soon to mitigate the damage!
I cant really blame him for looking after his family but it is agreat shame all the same.

Where City find the cash from is not his problem. If he's been in continuous employment for more than 12 months then he has certain rights including disciplinary procedures and grievance processes. He may be arrogant, but he isn't stupid, and I'm sure he would have learned about his rights on the football management course at Warwick.

This is probably because he didnt get the Barrow job he coverted so much.
It has never been clear if he jumped or was pushed. Very strange. He is entitled if he was sacked.
I have to say I am surprised he hasnt found another job, considering how many managers positions are vacant. If he isnt making enough effort to find another job that will be reflected in his award (if he has a claim).

City should make a counter claim for having to have him actually PLAY once or twice for the team then they could just call it quits

Ah but in this day and age if someone cant do their job you cant sack them you have to retrain them.
But he was in charge of training so he is ultimately responsible!

Surely the Board have seen this one coming? I certainly don't blame AP if he feels he is due compensation - in exactly the same way I felt the criticism of McClaren taking a pay off was short sighted - employment rights are employment rights whether you're on £100 a week or £100K.

If he was pushed, then he is due whatever he is legally entitled to ie contract to the end of the season.

Ah but in this day and age if someone cant do their job you cant sack them you have to retrain them. But he was in charge of training so he is ultimately responsible! Yes you can, within 12 months you can get rid immediately, after 12 months you deploy whatever disciplinary measures are in the employment contract. Preecey could have received warnings for his behaviour (such as jumping on fences to attack supporters, or confronting 4th officials in the stand) or his performance. That Scottish joker who thought he was hard received official club warnings and warned of his future conduct. But if the club terminated his contract without warnings, then Preecey is fully entitled to a pay off. If he walked away then its a different story. As the guy from the PFA said, there's no grievance with the club, this is just standard stuff really.

Yes I thought that too, but now you have to retrain. The employer is held to be responsible after all they gave that person the job. It is a minefield employment law.

Andy hasn't got the Farsley job - John Deacy who was caretaker has.

Anyone know if Preece has been successful, either with the compensation or a new job?
