Saying the same thing about Nwadike being booked, or is there yet more anti-Clegg invective here from the Pontefract pontificator? ? Pontefract? Macca? Simply, Cleggy is on a yellow, so a good sub, as it removes the risk of a 2nd yellow and a suspension - good positive management!

Nwadike is also on a yellow, but you chose to ignore that.

3 - 2 FT
Excellent result in what reads to be a game played in poor weather conditions
Great start to the new management team!!
Look forward to a full match report.

Nwadike is also on a yellow, but you chose to ignore that. Cleggy has been 'chancing a red' in the recent games I've seen, so a good decision to sub him.

Just back from the soggy wastes of Solihull, after a shambles of a first half the new management team sorted things out at half time. Still one or two square pegs in round holes, Rapid and Jamie seemed to be neither in midfield or defence. The Moors had 4/5 ones on ones of which Cameron stopped all but one - Dazzer was looking like a world beater. Every time Solihull switched the play we hadn't got a clue.
The straight long ball still exposes misunderstandings between Smithy and Kevin Spencer - to the extent that after the second goal Kevin was moved out to right back (he can throw the ball further than he can kick it). If Davidson could have been bothered we could have been sunk by half time.
Webby came on at half time to play on the right side of midfield replacing Rapid, who had rarely interfered with play in the first 45 mins. Richard is very positive and it's starting to rub off on the players - second half City got a grip of midfield after the early goal and there was only going to be one winner. Dazzer hardly had a kick. Quality of Jamie Price's corners and freekicks stood out, but he wasn't the dominant force he was in central areas as he was last week.
New signings in defence and midfield and City will start moving in the right direction. Solihull after the first 20 minutes were poor and are in the midst of a poor run - but you can only beat what's there, and we are their bunnies.

A good result for the City. But in the first half the Moors were all over them and the score line flattered the City. But for some woeful finishing the scoreline could have read Moors 5 or 6 to City 1.
As I said a good result for the City but a draw would have been a fairer outcome of the game.
The weather conditions were not condusive to good football. So well done both sides.
And again we had the high ball to the diminutive striker against giant of a central defender, giving Danks little chance. Although he scored 2 from snips. He is good on the snips. When are we going to get someone in the middle up front who can knock balls down to him?

You need luck in a football game, and we were very lucky in the first half today.

It's three points I certainly wasn't banking on at the start of the season. Well done, management team - two good second half performances on the trot!

not going to say we've turned the corner, but at least we are approaching it First half was not so clever, and I don't think Rapid is really ready for this level yet. Second half was like last week when we actually played, and at last there was some fight and passion to be seen, mainly from Danksy who was really winding their defence up, and Craig again showing that he knows how to battle. Ref was crap as usual and gave them free kicks everytime they fell over, but that game was there for the taking, and at last we took it! Dryden's instilling committment into the players, and with a couple of signings in the right areas we can start moving up the table a bit more

Rapid has ability and potential, perhaps the arrival of The King might be good for Raps. He knows the lad from Bromsgrove days and might well be a guiding hand. I hope so.

The Moors two goals were scored by unmarked players.City's defence in the first half were like a Sunday morning kick-around on the park.
And you are right Colin, City did have the luck today.

I have to admit, driving down in monsoon conditions on the M6 I did wonder what I had let myself in for. After 6 minutes and watching Middleton score at a canter, I was about to start munching on my toll receipt in frustration.
Well lets be honest. It wasn't pretty and for the first half, it wasn't at all good, but the most encouraging thing was we seem to have a manager who watches the game and makes good decisions based on the evidence.
In the first half we were all over the place. Rapid had no idea where he was playing and was awful, the centre mids were fine going forward but were unwilling to track back and Spencer and Smith played like two people who had never met each other before. Smith was constantly pulled out of position (often seen tackling people on the join of the touchline / centreline) and so there was a gaping hole right through the middle of the team. A siutation exposed by Moors second goal when they passed the ball without pressure from their own corner of the pitch, straight through the midfield and clean through the defence. Nothing fancy, just simple passing which we didn't close down. Mark Danks was almost apopleptic after he had bust a gut chasing down the orginal ball! At half time it should have been 6-3 to the Moors on clear cut openings - Thank God for Belford - he looks class.
Fortunately the manager made the right decisions, switching Clarke and Spencer and taking off poor Rapid and asking Webby to play a more disciplined right midfield role. Clearly we had some good fortune - its always good to score 20 seconds into the new half to totally disrupt the oppositions game plan, but we looked much tighter and controlled and the Moors confidence seemed to drain away. You almost sensed that they and their crowd expected them to throw it away.
Clarkes goal was scrappy but hey we will take it, and Moors had just survived an real scare minutes earlier in a goalmouth melee. Lets hear it for Jamie Price who's delivery of free kicks is superb and created the chances for the rest of the team to fire home.
3 very valuable points against a poor Moors side. But make no mistake, we are still not good ourselves and crying out for steel through the middle of the team, but real positives were Belford, Clarke, Smith, Price and the two guys up front. Not too mention the management due who have instilled some much needed spirit to the team - evidenced by a mass celebration for the third goal and final whistle. They all want to win badly, even the loan palyers, who come across as good enthusiastic lads. What a difference from a few weeks ago.
Well done City - lets get three more points next Saturday to set us up for Christmas.

A fine win. The first for RD as manager. The first of many I reckon.
Cameron Belford kept us in the match first half when we were cut to ribbons too often. Excellent switches by the manager shored things up and we were well on top in the second 45. 3 Cheers fro Chris Smiths single handed heroics to deny them a third.
Bring on boston!
