"Burley has been allowed to leave the Lane because of the impracticality of travelling to the Lane three times a week as a part-time player with a full time job in the North"
Says it all really. Maybe he really is a good player, when he turns up for games feeling mentally and physically prepared. Maybe thats why people who've seen him play away from home (locally!) say he's a better player.
Hopefully the barmy Preecey driven policy of looking for players North of Staffordshire is now consigned to history.

That's right Mr B - but who's going to plumb in the giant radiators now he's gone?

Or an experienced central defender. I think that is the number 1 priority. The sooner we start keeping clean sheets the better!

Agreed, a big mistake by the previous manager was not replacing JT with an experienced central defender. I don't think that decision did Rapinder any favours either. The likes of Carl all learn the tricks of their trade from older heads, Jock McGrath would have been a lesser player without the wily old Kev Tudor to teach him how to hold players up off the ball, and where to get your arms when marking tight, and how to tread on forwards feet at corners!!!

Dare I ask if we got any of our "four figure fee" back from Gainsborough?

Dave - The legendary " four figure fee " much loved by boardrooms to mask transfer fees, signing on fees, bonuses etc ! Funnily enough we only ever seem to pay them out and never read of receiving them ! Oh for financial transparency at SGL ! Should make the ground move finances interesting against this cloak and dagger attitude at SGL, which has lasted for the last 25 years. Whilst the signing cost to the City I believe to be circa 6k for Burley, I would be amazed if we got a weeks wages in return. Next time the Board sanction such disasterous signings and next breath plead poverty, I suggest that they get a map out as Sheffield today is still the same distance away from Worcester as the day they signed him. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. You make one good point in there, whilst the club continue to shell out large sums of money (larger than most clubs in this league) on mediocre players, their pleas of poverty will continue to fall on deaf ears with me. Only time will tell if that situation will change.

Well, Burley going has allowed the manager to sing Price on contract.
Perhaps the travelling was too much for him. He would not be fresh after some of the driving one witnesses on the M1, M42 and A42.
Anyway, good luck the guy in his new club.

I'm sorry to see him go; I thought he was a decent bloke and a decent player, even if not as highly rated as Andy Preece seemed to think.
Good luck back @ Gainsborough Adam (except when we play them at SGL).
