Well, it sounds like a good number need cheering up.
City benefit from the new manager 'bounce' on Saturday against Barrow, who won comfortably tonight, but having played in mid-week, combined with the long journey southwards, do not have enough in the tank to cope with a City side showing their worth to the new man.
Then, a substantial rest of nearly three weeks. During which players carrying knocks gain full recovery. The new manager is able to work on a few things in training. Two new signings in midfield see the City faithful saying farewell to a couple of old friends.
Next up, Harrogate away - abandoned due to bad weather.
That leaves City with five of their next six games being against bottom-half opposition against which they have performed better this year.
First up are Redditch, facing City without two key players who were suspended in last Saturday's game against Evesham, including key defender Exodus Geogehan. City have too much for a weakened Redditch side.
Boosted by a couple of wins on the bounce, and in front of their largest crowd of the season - around 1,800 - City play out a tense draw at home to Telford.
With the afters from Saturday carrying into the replay, and more red on display, Redditch suffer setbacks, and get beat 1-0 at the Valley on New Years Day.
City have too much for Hinckley as Mark Danks scores his usual pair against them.
But City fall to 1-0 against a Nuneaton side that has continued its strong run.
That puts City on 34 points after 23 games.
Next installment to follow. I cant see any further ahead.

Let's play spot the difference
Team A: Wright, Clark, Gill, Khan, Price, Colley, Nwadike, Ward, Clegg, Wilding, Wood. Sub ?, ? and ?
Team B: McDonnell, Clark, Smith, Liburd, Burley, Nwadike, ?, ?, Wilding, Webster, Danks. Subs: Gill, Khan, two of the midfielders, Troy.
If that team B wasnt able to get results close to that described above W4, D1, L1 then there is a real problem. Time for them to show that there isnt - individually and as part of a first team squad, not as part of an injury hit team pulling in our second-string players, playing a right-back on the left hand side of midfield, and with the uncertainty over management removed. But the big questions are the ? and ?. Do we already have them (Price and Ward? Colley and Clegg?) or are they to come? Whoever, they have to be bringing our strikers into games. Personally, I dont think it fair to say 'Webster out' - let us see whether he can deliver again once he gets some decent supply.

Andy
If we ever find a manager to take our fairly useless team on, I doubt many of those faces will still be here by Christmas. I am not down hearted as I know that any players that are brought in cant have less spirit, commitment or talent than the present encumbants!
Plus it is only 27 days til Christmas!

I think a fair proportion of our current squad are of CN standard.
I think the manager will be looking to make 2-3 changes. That is not to say that those who might be going arent (or have been) of CN standard, but we need the right blend for the whole team to click - and to click more consistently.
The majority of this squad have got excellent results in the past against Kettering, Droylsden, Burton, Accrington, Southport etc etc.
Equally, the squad has got virtually zilch from Leigh RMI, Guiseley, VM, Solihull Moors ...
They havent just become bad players.

And therein lies a problem. With such a small squad, having a fair proportion of the players up to the standard needed for the league is never going to be good enough. They all need to be up to CN standard!!!

I think that what is happening is the right process. We have a new manager on the way. He will judge the players and will keep those who pass muster. That could be all of them although no doubt he will quickly assess that;
a) the balance of the squad is wrong - too many defenders (and even then we leak goals for fun) not enough midfielders and little width/
b) some of the players (even though capable) dont have the appetite and consistency required for success at CN level
c) that we need a bit of flair and a leader on the pitch
d) he needs to engender a new winning spirit and change the culture at the Club where the opportunities are almost unequalled at this level of the game
Welcome on board Mr .....

we have the dogs nults mate
and he is
steve mcnulty might only play for us this season before moving up the leagues, but he is the best centre back in this league by many a mile, nothing gets past him, and if it looks like it might, jonah sweeps it up.
the only real joy watching the team with PW at the helm was the Nults. the guy is awsome as you lot are going to find out on sat.
there is no fear in the squad anymore, as we are back playing football how it should be done, telford tried to play it properly but just couldnt cope, burscough (injury ridden had 4 players out) tried but got torn to peices, the loss to southport was a harsh, but also was not unexpected after week last tuesday nights efforts against the bournemouth.
but thats all gone now, we are going for the play-offs, so sit back and just watch how you play football, if you cant handle that then try to kick us around, if you can catch us, but watch out, bondy will be about and probably sherri too, who dont take kindly to having lumps kicked out of themselves and the rest of the team.

'when you are too pikey for iceland, you can always go to lidl's' As someone who comes from Iceland I refute the claim that it is full of pikeys, vikeys maybe but no pikeys. Haven't been to Lidl, they wouldn't let me across the Latvian border, so I can't comment on them.
