If Barrow win their F.A. Cup replay against Bournemouth we will be without a game on 1st December. If we lose to Guiseley in the F.A. Trophy we could be without a game on 15th December depending on who else gets through. If Harrogate Town progress in the Setanta Shield the next round is due to be played on 22nd December so our league game against them would be postponed.

On the other hand it might give a new manager time to bed in?

It will give the players time to recover from all their injuries, ready for the Christmas week with 3 matches.

Can there ever be a saving on beer?

Can't make the Barrow game anyway ... so a Monday night re-schedule would be better for me.
I'm looking forward to the Redditch/Telford games and - perhaps - a decent crowd for both.

It could be the perfect opportunity for the new gaffer to get some quality time with his players, get them working how he wants them, and three extra training sessions could be very beneficial, a chance to get over injuries, a chance to scout opponents and potential signings. Couldn't ask for more really, besides some gate money!

We are now currently without a game on 15th December because of our F.A. Trophy exit. There are other Conference North clubs in the same position: Boston United, Solihull Moors, Hinckley United, Hyde United, Barrow, Burscough, Stalybridge Celtic and Harrogate Town. After replays Redditch United, Blyth Spartans or Gainsborough Trinity, Hucknall Town, and Nuneaton Borough or Workington could be added to the list. Given that there is every chance of Harrogate Town beating Tamworth in the Setanta Shield thus causing our league game away to them on 22nd December to be postponed I think the best option would be to bring that game forward by a week. That would rule out the need for a long midweek trip (for most anyway and would give everyone a free day on the Saturday before Christmas unless another game were to be arranged for that day against one of the other teams left with a free day due to their intended opponents still being in the Setanta Shield.

There must be an opening for you somewhere as a fixture secretary!

Wouldn't a fixture-less Saturday be a blessing in disguise just at the moment?
Why does the Setanta Shield take preference over a league match? That ain't normally so is it? (I know FA competitions take preference but league cup matches?)
