In fairness we didnt do enough to win, we played better second half and Cleggy was unlucky not to score after he danced his way through the heart of their defence. He had another good game as did Smudger and the young keeper but Doran had a real mare and Nick Colley went missing again as he did on Saturday.
Had a chat to Graham Newton before the game, he is doing real well now after his double hip replacements, he still has a keen interest in City and in local football and he reeled off a handful of local player names he thought would do well for us, he must have been even more sure after the game.

The game didnt reach many heights to be honest, especially second-half. Nuneaton are a big side, playing 3-4-3 and making it work in the first-half, when City barely got a look-in. Defensive mistake seemed to let in Nuneaton striker to put them ahead, but he finished well. Good free-kick from Clegg from 20 yards.
Second-half lacked excitement for both sets of fans sides. Two decent moves from City - Webby just failing to get on the end of a sharp cross-ball to the back-post and some intricate work by Troy playing through Clegg. Slightly strange winner - Wright seemed to come about 18 yards and failed to make contact to a long-deep (but straight) free-kick, which would have been comfortably picked up in the six-yard box. No way back with a minute to go.

Word has it that a couple of Premier League clubs are tracking Michael Wright. No Doubt they will be at Lilleshall this week when he joins up with the England F.A Colleges/U 19 team.

Well I have to admit I was damn thankful Nuneaton scored so late as I was so cold I would have collapsed with another 30 minutes and my nerves could not stand a penalty shoot out. Besides would the Royal be able to cope with 200 chavs with hyperthermia! Put some bloody clothes on!!
Nuneaton were the better side, but there were several positives to draw from last night.
Smudger is now communicating and acting like a captain, he played really well and Darrell is right he has the best bum. (Sorry Craig!)
Mike Wright showed some excellent moves, he is a very talented young man.
Pete Doran was excellent in the second half.
Troy worked well, shame he didnt score But
There did seem some confusion at the back, and the midfield was quiet, Webby was excellent to start but faded fast.
I am hoping that the lads knock the stuffing out off them next week though!!!
The ref was ok, but he did seem to turn a blind eye to some serious fouls on both sides. The linesman on the stand side never kept up with play and had no idea when anyone was offside, which I am sure Webby appreciated!

Linesmen don't have to keep up with play, they just have to be level with the last defender

I think that Nuneaton used their secret weapon last night - Paul McKenna. He had used mass hypnosis which meant that our players could only pass the ball to someone wearing a Nuneaton shirt.
Well, I can't think of any other explanation for the number of times it happened.

Who says he did? Unless you are also moving up and down the touchline in line with the last defender, you can't be sure whether a player is standing in an offside position, let alone whether he's active. As you stand on the halfway line, you are only in a position to judge on an offside if every opposing player is in the other half! Very often you can think a player is offside yet the far side fullback hasn't quite come up with the line and is playing everyone onside. Only the lino in line with the final defender can see that. We may mock officials, but linesmen get it right far more often than you might think.

Like Alison I am damned glad Nuneaton scored when they did - I couldn't have stood another 30 minutes+ of such rubbish.
With a 4'3" forward we hoofed the ball up to their two 6ft plus defenders; absolute rubbish from beginning to end. Nuneaton weren't much better.

Sounds like I didnt miss much then, I enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal, front row seats, half time buffet, and to top it all I had £20 on a 3-1 Arsenal win Highly entertaining.
