Can anyone tell me if WCFC have ever looked into linking up with professional clubs in the local area?
Would this be a realistic option to aid the progressionof the club?

What d'ya mean? We ARE a professional club.
Do you mean linking with a full-time club?

That, surely, would be a matter for the new manager. If there was money in it for us, and an opportunity for players from the League club to play here on loan, I can't see the problem.

It has been mulled over before. I think the worry is that we get swallowed up and lose our independence. What if pressure was applied for WCFC to play a League side's reserve player simply to improve his fitness thus forcing us to drop a player who'd been playing well for us? There must be ways though to improve our contacts with the pro sides around the Midlands.

On a similar theme I suggested some time back that the club should be looking to link up with 1 or 2 of the local youth clubs. There is some great football being played locally up to under 16 level, then it becomes hard for the youngsters to carry on playing. Few are physically up for "adult" football, but few clubs run to U18. If WC linked up with the locals we might see more local tallent making the break through.

Isn't that what the " Academy " is supposed to be for ?

Yes. I suspect BCFCfan may have been playing the new version of Football Manager, hence the question.

Isn't that what the " Academy " is supposed to be for ? No the academy is to generate revenue and provide resources for the club and also for Worcester Tech. Droitwich High School have just set one up with Bromyard Town, it provides access to more finances for the college involved, and some of that is passed on to the club involved. At the end of the day, WCFC is a business, and not the most healthy of businesses, so they, quite rightly, need to generate as much revenue, and get as much free resource as they possibly can.
