A decent point in the circumstances; can't remember us picking up many points the last time we had a caretaker manager. Well played City.

Rivacre Park is always a rather surreal place to watch football - what with the sound of the motorway drowning out the muffled mutterings of the "one man and his dog" that mascarades as a crowd - but today's match was as close to the big match razamatazz of say Man Utd v Arsenal as most of our players home's are to the City of Worcester. i.e. a very long way!
City started slowly 4-4-2, (yes!) but with Clegg and Macca in centre midfield (hmm). Clegg set up his deckchair in the centre circle very early in the game. Motors were lively, with the rated Taylor at the heart of everything they produced. He has rocket shot boots and was willing to have a dip on a reguar basis. He was not closed down as City looked somewhat disinterested.
Frankly our midefield in the first half was non-existant, Clegg as we know is not a worker. Macca seemed too casual and wanted too much time on the ball. Ward tryer as he is, does not cut it as a midfielder for me (he is a decent defender) and Barratt was starved of possesion. It resulted in too much hoofball out of defence - as there was never an option from the midfield to build a move with a short easy pass.
Motors opened the scoring via a neat turn and shot, and they should have then doubled their advantage. City slowly got into the game, and created some 'half-chances, the best oportunity arriving virtually on half time when a shot from Wilding produced a tremendous save from the home keeper.
Second half prompted a slight re-shuffle with Colley now on for Barratt (Doran had already come on in the first half after an injury to Liburd) and Nick's injection of industry and some verbal encouragement from Stant and Barton spurred City into action. Motor's retreated to protect their lead and City were suddenly in the ascendancy. After a couple of howlers in front of goal we scored! A decent header from Macca from a Doran cross. A couple more gilt edge chances went begging for a lethargic Danks (on for a labouring Webster) and then City sat back again and let Motors back into the game.
As the game moved to a conclusion, a goal for the home side seemed almost inevitable as the City midfield yet again decided to take it easy. Taylor burst away to thunder a shot against the bar. The referees whistle for time being a relief as we had salvaged a point.
After match analysis? City desperately need a leader on the pitch. They were quiet, lacking in confidence and verve and a number of players looked like they were marking time before they leave the club. Barty and Stant have quite a job motivating the rest of the squad.
We also desperately need a midfield - a decent side would have had a field day with us today. Fortunately Motors were unimpressive and I fear for them if the sell their striking asset, Taylor was a class apart.
For City McDonnell, Smith and Wilding all had very good games. Others were average (the new lad looks good on the ball and didn't have a bad match). I wonder if Webby will ever get back to being the player he was (he is a yard off being remotely sharp). Clegg I fear should remian up north and stay in bed on a Saturday and some of the others should also ask themselves if they really want to play for our club.
PS - After reading some of the criticisms of Doran on this board, to be fair to the guy I thought he was decent today. Lively going forward and put in 100% effort. It was amazing how this effort stood out.

Superb report Manc. Thanks for usual objective and informed view.
A good point under the circs. Rivacre Park hasn't held a lot of joy for City and an away point keeps us tucked in mid table
As for our Pete. Gald ha had good game. The lad lacks nithing in industry and can look half decent in an advanced position out wide but asa defender at right back? Not for me.

I knew that from a chat with one of the senior players last season, but there was no telling the manager, he knew better.

Patrece's injury sounds a worry. We need him at the back.

Guess it's the third kit, as the stripes are useless against teams with white shirts!

We were thinking it could be a training kit. Actually prefer it to the red stripes !!
