Anybody have any thoughts on who the caretaker manager may be?
Martin O'Connor? Ray Woods? Graham Hyde? Barty?

I've always thought Ray Woods might be the man. But would he want it?

George Rooney as caretaker. Knows what it takes, and wouldn't be looking for a long-term post.

So Barton & Stant as caretaker manager team to take control.
It is nice they dont want it full time, it will at least stop any cracks appearing in the team and will not be unfamiliar to them of the setup and the fans feeling.
Hopefully they get a couple of get togethers before Vauxhall.

My admiration of Phil Stant is well known, and the last time I saw him I cried - and it had nothing to do with football. The man is immense.

It would be nice to see Phil write a 'new chapter' of the Worcester City and his own history.
Respect, no question.

Respect to JB. It shows what a big man he is. It takes real maturity to come back this way. The irony could be that a relaxed Barton with the pressure off (being just "caretaker") and with PS at his side could do the business.

Good luck to the new management team.
We played some good stuff under Barty at times and with a little bit more steel from Mr Stant it could just be the trick.

"the last time I saw him I cried..." Did he borrow a fiver off you?

It was a serious moment, on TV with Stanty on the Falklands, he was on the verge of tears, a poignant moment indeed. A great man.

it's good to have people that we already like and respect in there and great that it's happened so quickly.

The speed with which JB & PS were put in place as caretaker bosses suggests DB and the board had a contingency plan in mind some little time ago; my guess is soon after the Tamworth defeat. I am full of admiration for DB - with all the hours that have put in on the ground move it would have been easy to let team matters drift this season and settle for mid-low table mediocrity.

ctod1959 is spot on with his assessment of the thoughts and timing. John Barton and Phil Stant both know the club and the league. A month's worth of caretaking whilst applications are received. If they pick things up they can have the job permanent. I think some of the players current comfort zones are about to be disrupted ! Sergeant Stant doesn't do passionless !

I don't think the board or Dave Boddy had been planning this but after the Hucknall match and the way they came to apologise, it hurt them, so I feel Wednesday was do or die day and the decision was made and calls made.
I always felt that through thick and thin, the board would support AP but Tuesday was a black day, the straw that broke the back.
JB has already said he is not interested in the full time role but hopefully they can get through the Setanta cup thing, as the prize money will easy the situation for the new boss.

I agree; I don't see how their appointments could have been made so quickly unless there had been prior communication with them on this issue. Surely both would have wanted to think it over?

And if it was only about Tuesday, with the players saying that performance was 'their fault', then ...?

I know but it is easier to sack one than easier to sack a dozen

Andy - It wasn't just about Tuesday's result. The Chairman's blast after the Tamworth game was as strong a " last chance " comment as you could get. " Passionless and predictable " were the general themes, which I think most fans agree with. I'd be surprised if John Barton and Phil Stant weren't sounded out prior to the departure, as you always need to plan in advance.
