City slump to 1-3 defeat and a crowd below 700.
Doom and gloom.

A cracking game to finish 1-1 with good travelling support boosting the gate to 1051.

come on you pessimistic lot! Apart from Boston our best performances for me have been against the stronger teams - we were really good against Kettering (although outpaced first half), and excellent most of the time against Harrogate, so I'm going for a very strong performance and a well deserved win, 2-1. And I'll go for a decent crowd too - we haven't had a home game for a month, Southport should bring a few, and the weather is good so 950 or even 1000.

I'd like to think we'd win, but having had a fortnight's lay-off, during which Southport have scored eight goals, I think we'll be a bit slow out of the trap on this one.
A 1-1 draw.
Give the mascot a special cheer; he's my grandson and being mascot's part of his 11th birthday present!

Are you sure that's a good idea Tim? After the things he was saying about the team at Tamworth he may well take them to task.

Andy Preece's first game in charge was a 1-3 defeat at home to Southport.
That result to be reversed on Saturday.

What was he saying Niels? Can't remember that far back; he soon gets over it and is as keen as ever by the time of the next match. (Takes after his grandad).
On a sartorial note he's more worried about not having the right kit to wear.

Well from memory they are a physical team and if we dont have decent ref it is going to be carnage.
I think the crowd will be good as it is so long since we had a home match and it is better value to watch city play badly than Warriers!
If we have a decent ref 1-0 to City, Craig to score. Crap ref 0-5!

Was it not the last time we played Southport, that Danny got sent off because one of there players dived in the box and and got a penalty?.

Well remembered! I knew something happened but I couldnt remember what. I remember being very derogative about their fans on the message board - I wont repeat it! They were as rough as old wellies and made Redditch fans seem up market!

"A group of Southport fans are making a weekend of it and plan to come to the game wearing garish shirts. They will blend in well on the Brookside" From the City website.
Made me chuckle. I will be wearing specially selected garb for tomorrow now.
? was the word "latrines" omitted at the end of the sentence by accident. Presumably their shirts will be so bright as to be visible in the gloom of this dark chamber of horrors?

Thanks for the mention Mr Dragonstander...yes a small group of us (10 -12 ) are making what is now our second consecutive "away trip overnighter " having spent a superb weekend at St Albans last season. Our mottley group of middle aged, overweight and very ugly chaps, are a friendly bunch who as mentioned will be wearing some brightly coloured shirts kindly obtained by one of our number who has recently returned from a trip to the far east ( please dont mention the ladyboys he might get embarrassed) The whole aim of the trip is to enjoy the local ales and maybe enjoy a chat with the locals.... thats if they can understand our Lancashire accents ( Not a scouser in sight ) Speaking of such be warned...If there is any mention of any of us originating from that part of the world the response will be swift !!! and you will probably be equally accused of being........WELSH. Dont worry its not intended to upset anyone...it was the first thing I could think of a few years ago when we were similarly abused by a particular group of away fans at Haig Ave.....after the stunned looks at being called Welsh ( I think they were from the South ! ) the exchange of mindless and sometimes humourous banter continued. So we look forward to spending our hard earned wages in your fair city.......all the best !

I'd happily settle for 1-0 at football. Now the sheep-shagging I'm not sure about.
However, someone once said about most things "Don't knock it till you've tried it".
