Hamburg SV - a smallish football club in fun-loving Germany - are apparently opening a fans cemetery next to their stadium. Surely that would be the perfect enabling development for our new ground at Nunnery Way!
The NIMBY's wouldn't be able to complain about noisy neighbours, and after any ashes were scattered the urn could then be presented to the club - so we'd even have something to put in the trophy cabinet!
It could even be named in honour of our esteemed Chairman - The Boddy Drop.

Great idea Time to Kill. We've already got a cemetry at SGL - the Brookside. Just no one bothers to dig the holes.

Hamburg are hardly a small club. Average attendence is 55,000. Good turnover.

Where would we put the sods?

Which sods are those? The ones who stand on the Brookside? Or the green variety?

Tim, have you and Ealing got something against the Brookside?

Blackpole, I am a resident of the Brookside and am one of the living dead. Or the dead living. Whatever.

Phew, I was begining to get worried that I must stand amongst cardboard cut outs! I actually find the Brookside very amusing with the banter that goes on - providing you stand at the right end of it - I don't go near the shed or else all i hear is the same 2 football songs every two or three minutes!

The Brookside is my church, (and I don't mean to offend the religious amongst us). Over the, many, years it's been a comfort, a home, a refuge, a source of laughs; sorrow; frustration and joy. Especially when the Green Stand stood there. It's probably the thing I'll miss most when we move. Along with the turnstiles; the HKL; the bar (even though I rarely go in there); the canal end; the Cavalier; the crappy p.a. system; the glow of light from the press box in the stand as the sun sinks; walking down St Georges Lane; the cinder dusted forecourt etc etc. In fact everything. There. I've now made myself as morose as hell.
Oh well, here's to the future, to heroes yet to arrive, to success for the club and (at last) for us. The town, the club, and we, deserve it.

That's a great post Andy - just one little error - "The town..." How dare you Sir? We are a City and proud of it!
And Pete : I have nothing against the Brookside, in fact some of my best friends stand there. I just prefer the comfort (and shade) of the non-smoking enclosure in front of the main stand.
Oh - and we have banter over this side too!

Whoah! .... does this mean I'll have to stand on the non-smoking side on a saturday morning?!

There has been talk of enforcing a total smoking ban at all junior football events.
