Not blaming the ref for us losing, just stating the free kick was not given by him, but by his linesman! As the ref was allowing play to go on, why did he take the lino's call over his own? And I've always thought a ref should stop play for head injuries ... we're on a break, one of their lot goes down holding his back, and the ref stops it ... and I'm not sure it was a game we could have finished off. Great save by Danny 1st half kept it scoreless at half time, and we hadn't really created anything at that point. For me a draw would have been fair

and yet we complain too often that refs dont use their linesman, if hes 70 yards from the play, then hes quite right to take the linos call. You've answered your own question there.

A bit unfair to blame the ref for us failing to finish off a game we should have won. How did you work out that you should have won the game?? I will agree that the referee made some weird decisions for BOTH teams.

For those who are in far away places here is the lowdown;
City were perspiration not inspiration against a very average (Adie Smith excepted) Tamworth. I think we could have played another 90 minutes and not scored. They should have had two ore three in the first half and were denied by Danny twice and the post. Webby was put through and his effort was deflected round the post. A better conection and it would have been in the bottom corner. Barratt's superb cross had the Muff defence all at sea and the tireless Emma nearly shoved it home. Generally a lacklustre first half with the ref ruining the flow of waht was generally a pretty clean encounter with invisible infringements and inconsistency. Every cross into the City box looked a threat and the Muff goal came from that source with a ball beyond the back post proving our undoing with Danny for once unable to do anything about it. City hardly created a chance until the last ten minutes. Several promising situations fizzled out and we were generally second to the loose ball. At times we palyed some neat passing football but there was little cutting edge or inspiration. Overrun in midfield we resorted to the hoof and kept finding the ball coming back. Overall a 6/10 with Muff just a bit better at 7/10 and probably deserving winners.
Player ratings
McDonnell; Looked to be struggling a bit physically but was faultless behind an often exposed defence 8/10
Doran; Hmmm. A couple of nice touches going forward but all at sea as a defender. His first touch came after 21 minutes and we were defending most of that time. The play just passed him by. On this showing cannot be allowed to play again 3/10.
Barratt; Quality. Pace, positional sense and a fine crosser. A real threat from wing back. If only other players were on his wavelength and picked up his runs we might have broken the deadlock. Great clearing header in the second half when under pressure. Think Gareth Bale and you wont be far wrong 9/10
Liburd; Good stopper. Did little wrong. Lacks a little pace. 6/10
Smith; Carrying a knock? Not one of his most commanding performances but his experience helped him through. Distribution average. 6/10
Clark; Not a great defender. Much more effective prompting and passing in the last half hour. A bit of a show pony at times but a fair effort. He would be excellent alongside Emma in central midfield 6/10
Ward; It mystifies me how he can be such a stand out right back and such an anonymous midfielder? Not his fault he is played out of position but on today alone 5/10
Webster; Still struggling to regain his former sharpness after his long injury lay-off. A frustrating afternoon. Did not really link up well with Wilding. 5/10
Wilding; Looks our most intelligent forward although again looked hampered by injury? Nearly sneaked one late on but his clever flick well saved in the end. Never stopped trying. 7/10
Clegg; Did he play? A luxury in a three man midfield 4/10
Emma; Box to box , never stopped , always seemed to be in the action, great header (you can almost put your mortgage on him winning an aerial duel and Citys players should gamble on him doing so every time. Tried his guts out. With a bit more pace he would be outstanding. 8/10
Subs: Not really enought time. If Nick had been on for longer we might have turned it round and Danksi looked to have the pace and spark we lacked.
So ther we are. Clearly a few players played with knocks and credit to them for that. We tried but on the day were found wanting. I think there will be better days but we need to either change the formation to fit the players or change a few players to fit the formation. A 3 man midfield without pace is asking for trouble. 4-4-2
Danny
Ward Smith Liburd/Gill Barratt
Colley Clark Nwadike Clegg Wilding Danks / Webster
Get rid of the rest and bring in a couple of new faces otherwise the gates will be below 700 by Christmas.
See you at Boston!

Something has changed or gone kaput. In any case it's here: www.tamworthfans.co.uk/Default.aspx?g=topics&f=1I thought both teams played average with Tamworth just (JUST) edging it in front of goal. Good support from your lot, which naturally dried up when you went a goal down. It's a shame that Nic Colley got so much of our attention. Whilst the circumstances surrounding him and the club are difficult, i feel that few people know the whole story. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I personally can't hold the ref responsible for us losing.

Either play to his strengths in a packed midfield or don't play him.

I can't see why we continue to play players out of position now that the injury situation is better.
Ryan Clarke was signed as a right back/wing back but plays at centre half.
Peter Doran was listed as a no-nonsense centre half/right back when he arrived but plays at wing back.
Chris Smith is a excellent centre half playing as a sweeper.
The only natural sweeper in the squad Rapinder Gill can't get a game.
Surely a better balanced back five is therefore
Clarke Smith Gill Liburd Barrett
with Doran maybe in for Smith who can stiffen up the midfield because Ward and Clegg look completely off the pace at the moment. If they are injured then give Colley a start or use Smith as above.

Attendance 801
600 Tamworth, 201 Worcester. Both clubs (Sleeping Giants) must be disappointed with the Attendance, with the clubs an hours drive apart and FA Cup "Dreams", this should of been one of the highest gates of the season. "Shoddy Support" by both teams.

Hope you get a decent draw and make it to Wembley! I thought the focus on Nick CVolley was vastly overdone I'm afraid. A case of rule by a minority of idiots. Whilst I would expect City fans to stand up for Nick (who has been exemplary since he joined City) I think that too was overdone.

Have to agree; it was a distraction from the real issue, which was how to score a goal and beat Tamworth. Nick's problems are past history now and should be left behind.
