A disappointing performance. Shaky defence let a very combative Alfreton secure a 2 goal lead at half time. Red card harsh perhaps - but Ref had no option.
City dominated the 2nd half, but even with 4 attackers on just couldn't get past the defence Alfreton worked very hard at.
Quite simply, City must look at the organisation at the back - it's probably the worst set up I have seen since the Allner era.
Superb travelling support - and that is something of a result itself these days.

We had no plan B today, apart from a great free kick from Wilding City had nothing to shout about. Alfretons 3rd goal was a real corker though.

That was one of the worst display's from a City side I have seen in a long time, and against 10 men,I fear the worst next week at Tamworth.

Superb travelling support - and that is something of a result itself these days. Wakey, I'll agree with that comment taking the numbers into account only! The last thing it was, was superb support - I can't disagree it was a poor performance against 10 men, and against a side I would expect to beat even if they had a full compliment out there, but rather than try and lift the team, the support wasjust anti City. Language was a disgrace from several supporters, and comments against AP were appalling. You could see that AP seemed to lack ideas to to change the course of the game, so isn't it up to the supporters to then do their bit? Early in the 1st half a chant of "we wantMourinho" was being heard and that was before a goal had been scored! Does that lift the confidence in anyone? ... I think not. Drink fueled young "supporters" are not good for the club, and the foul abuse is not neede. If we go a goal down at Tamuff next week, I hope it's not up to that lot to lift the team, and I hope AP's shoulders are broad enough to ignore them. One minute it was barmy army, and the next itwas telling the whole team how s*** they were. And poor that display was, so I'm not going to even find a good point 'cos there wasn't one, but there wasn't from the support either. There's a need to drink less and support more, that way my 10yr old won't learn that sort of language earlier than life would teach him naturally. Yes, I was embarrased to be a City supporter today, but not just because of the team.

I thought AP was very poor today he ahd no idea how to beat a team with 10 men and 4 forwards just playred into there hands.

that's my point, and if you read what I said, it was obvious he didn't have a clue - but the supporters were not exactly doing their bit to try and lift the team either!

Sadly, it did seem there was a lot of Cider tasting before the game. Stupidity goes hand in glove with Drink.
I didn't hear the chant's of abuse against AP - I did hear the abusive/Foul language from the 'Home' Directors and Bench - so now relieved that I didn't bring my daughter to the game.
AP is not a poor Manager. He is a very very good Manager. But he is a 'lonely' Manager. No one to bounce ideas off
Last season He would have put himself on as a substitute. He did not this time.
I watched the 'warm up' it's very good - professional in fact.
But, for the players we have, it's a very poor start. We need specialised coaching and above all, team stability - too many journeymen perhaps??

"well done to them" /! If that is supporting a team, I've been going wrong for the past40 years - now i see the error of my ways - thanks for that. I'm not going to defend AP against any of your comments, you could well be right about the lonely description, all I was stating initially was that the "support" was NOT superb! It would have had the opposite effect

No today was just a very bad performanve all rouind it happens sometimes So, What should AP 'Look like' then? He got slated when he and Jock pulled the stunts that Alfreton's Bench did today.... Yes he is 'clueless' - But always would be at this level of football. AP operates at a much higher skill/technical merit. (now he's not playing) but please don't ridicule his prematch warm up. I saw 'Snapper' and his methods....

Yes, I was embarrased to be a City supporter today, but not just because of the team. Agree 100%. I was embarrassed to be stood anywhere near them in the second half, a small group of alcohol fueled lads singing songs into oppositions faces when leaving the ground, which is totally unacceptable. The group that were singing appalling chants (from what i've been told have only been to a handful of city matches!) I feel embarrassed to know 1 or 2 of those idiots. There were racist chants which i heard in the first half, which i just couldn't believe! Anyway, poor performance today but it doesn't mean that one poor performance in a few weeks mens that songs like 'sack the board' should not be heard.

FOLLOWING THEIR DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR TODAY THE TROUBLE MAKERS HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM ALL SUPPORTERS CLUB TRAVEL. So they should! From what I heard at the game, I can understand the teenagers larking around and getting mouthy but the abuse from the seniors was just as bad if not worse, some of the language was vile!. The team played badly yesterday but having hostile home and away fans on their backs all of the second half didnt help the situation.

I agree with wh, the abuse towards Preecey and the players came more from the seniors than the young lads, although the youngsters swore a lot they were more behind the team.
As for the actual football it's hard to believe that Alfreton started the day 4th from bottom. Even with 10 men they were much better than us and looked like scoring every time they went forward - whereas we were static, gave the ball away and couldn't create anything to seriously trouble their defence.
On the other hand I thought we were better yesterday than we were last Monday against Solihull. Small consolation as we were very ordinary both games. I hope we can raise our game a bit against Tamworth next week.

Wasn't at the game so can't comment with any insight but if the so-called WCFC fans - young or old - who were chanting vile abuse - in particular racist abuse - can we also have them banned from SGL? I know this might not sit easily in the current climate of collapsing home crowds but these sort of idiots are surely part of the problem. Nothing puts casual spectators off more than the thought of being lumped in with neandeathals or being threatened by them.
Racist abuse is also a criminal offence in football grounds - where were Alfreton's stewards? and as we have a black manager and black players what sort of message is being sent out if no action is taken?
If the individuals can be identifed they should be banned from SGL.

Off the pitch - there was one individual (not a youth) consistently yelling abuse towards Preece. Was, frankly, embarrassing...
On the pitch - agree with all assessments thus far. And in some ways the lack of creativity was no surprise. What really disappointed was the seeming lack of passion. No leadership on the field. Only Smith seemed to really care. ...
And Preece was very quiet throughout

Racist abuse is also a criminal offence in football grounds As is defacing players cars and throwing stones at home fans. They have been banned from the travel and will hopefully be banned from SGL.

Sounds like a bad day all round.
Congrats to the SC for taking an immediate and tough line.
City fans have never been slow to evnt their spleen when the team doesn't perform - it is no excuse but it is a fact.
We will do better against Tamworth. We are clearly struggling to gel. Our new back line is still shipping goals and our results and performances will be up and down. Despite all this we are still 11th and I think things will get better on the pitch over the next few weeks. A cup run maybe just what we need.

I think this was the same group who gate-crashed the club house outside the ground at about ten to three and proceeded to "neck" as many doubles as possible in five minutes before taunting the drinkers in there with the rather tasteful "Worcestershire is wonderfull..............etc", closely followed by "Derbyshire is full of sh*t". My wife and I were so pleased to be associated with these " fans"
