Frantic pace - but all effort and no punch.

City were very lucky to hang on to a point, they were dreadful. No communication, no spirit, no leadership. There were only two players out for a game - Paul Barratt and Craig. Thankfully Darren Middleton was injured and they had absolutely no finish, otherwise we would have been hammered 6-0.
Very disappointing, especially after the lads display on saturday, but then Leigh were truely shocking.
Ap says we have 3 great strikers, two of them were asleep last night and the other only got about 15 minutes on the pitch.
Craig is definitely our best striker, he needs to get his hernia sorted so he can play to his full potential. He must be in agony, poor lad. Webby and Danks can scrap for the other place.
Solihul had some real pace, their nos 3 and 11 were only likkle but they didnt half cover some ground. They must be disappointed not to get the 3 points - which they fully deserved!

Yes, a bit disappointing. We resorted to 'hoof it and hope'. On the rare occasions we got the ball down and passed it, we made real inroads into the opposition hallf.
Difficult to pick a man of the match out of that but I would probably go for Patrice Liburd who gave a solid performance. It's not fair to pick out particularly poor performers so I won't do that - let's just say it was genarally 'a bad day at the office!'
Alison - did you notice that Mr Allardyce got just what you wanted him to get?

That would have been another loss without Liburd. He's made us look a lot more solid in the centre.
I took my brother along. He's moved to Ki**erm*nst*r and (to my shame) sometimes watches the H*rr**rs. He said the pace in the conference is much slower - but the skill level and team work is much higher. The gulf between the full and part time games.

Agree that Liburd played well, but I think without Danny McDonnell making 2 great saves (one in each half), we would of got nothing from the game.
Does anyone else think that Nwadike plays in a more defensive or less attacking role at home games?

I enjoyed the game, which was a close tense affair, with much good play but little end product. The first half was much better than the second and a draw was a fair result in my opinion. However I don't really agree with Preece's desission to play 4-4-2 when 5-3-2 worked well on Saturday. Presumably it was to counter Moors 4-5-1 but it took the team quite a while to get their head round it, and it did narrow our play somewhat.

If AP reckoned they could have played better on Saturday, what does he have to say about the shambolic performance ( i use the word loosely) last night???

Has any one heard about their player that was taken to hospital?

Solihull Moors right back Chris Duggan dislocated his wrist and broke his arm. I'll let you know when he is available for the Moors again.

Disappointing outcome and game after the promise of Saturday, but not "shambolic" IMHO. One of those nights when things just didn't go. Moors obviously came for a point and their game plan to stifle us worked.
However Moors were lucky to finish the game with eleven on the field as their big No 9 grabbed Liburd by the throat just in front of me. In the Premiership it would have been a straight red; in BSN just a lecture from the referee.

I didn't think we were much good last night. Despite going forward a lot we weren't able to create many sustained periods of pressure - we probably had more possession and attacked more but Solihull had better chances than we did. We were a bit lucky to get a point out of it.
And I agree totally about the communication point earlier by, er, <gobby cow> - the communication hasn't always been that special even when we've won.

True, but if the referee had sent Liburd off for grabbing Danny Davidson round the throat at an earlier corner, then Danny wouldnt have been able to grab him round the throat At almost every corner the Moors had in the first half the two of them were acting like kids. Ask Danny McDonnell, he was getting as fed up of it as we were.

I have to agree with statto, they were both as bad as each other and we were expecting them to get their marching orders, but the ref seemed to just ignore it all.

850 ish.
PS. Given our recent matches against Moors I regard this as a point gained.

As we drew it was a point gained but as we havent played Solihull moors before this season, or in fact ever before then I don't think previous seasons games have any bearing on the result. Its a point in a long season. Performance wise not brilliant but not as shambolic as someone on here wrote. I think Preecey's comments that they came for the draw and packed the midfield were right. But that was obvious after 20 minutes, so why wait till after the game to make that assessment? Perhaps a bit more flexibility during the game or at half time would have changed things a bit.

Although Solihull Moors is a merger it is really just a name change. As far as I can see the squad, apart from a few new ones, is made entirely of Moor Green players. No Solihull Borough players remain, that I am aware of. So therefore we have played this team on many occassions, and haven't done very well against them lately.

Yep new name but same old boring tactics thankfully they did not nick all the points this year. One year a game of football might break out invoving Moors
