Magic night at Sixways. A crowd of 2;475 witnessed a rather downbeat derby with City a cut above the Raiders. A wonder goal which swerved cruelly round the bewildered home keeper. City played with caution opting to frustrate Raiders who could not find any space and did not muster a shot on target. City pushed forward in the last twenty and a second goal would not have flattered us. A great win, three points and another win. Interesting to see the Raiders stand full for the fixture. Stadium and parking were excellent. It might make sense to play the reverse fixture at Sixways so the club benefits from a real bumper pay day. C’mon you blues

It was a great night and we completely outplayed Raiders. Another goal or two would have been good, but we held on to what we had. Jamie Insall looked a forlorn figure up front for much of the match, but ran his heart out. Our support was fantastic, but we could probably have done without the obscene chanting.

Firstly, I think City should try to share Sixways with Raiders. It was less than a quarter full but still had atmosphere, and the view of the pitch was excellent. If you were stood in the Shed at St George's Lane, you couldn't see about 20% of the pitch. The Lane had character, but was never much good even when it was in decent condition. Secondly, who are the Raiders' fans? I went there - for research purposes - last season and the majority of the crowd were primary school age footballers plus their families and everyone else seemed to be connected to the club, either wearing a tracksuit or high-viz. They seemed to have a couple of hundred of actual fans last night. Is Warndon Villages, or somewhere, now a Raiders hotbed? Thirdly, to add to Glevum's point I was always of the opinion that obscene chants aren't big and aren't clever, and that the players would prefer fans to shout for them rather than shout against the opposition…..and then at the final whistle last night the players joined in with those chants. Fourthly, singing, “Oh Worcestershire is wonderful…..” is kind of pointless when the other team is from the same county!
That said, a great night.

Great atmosphere on Wednesday night and more importantly 3 points. That game was well hyped up, but what would it be like playing in front of about 500 against Hereford Pegasus or Lads Club or Tuffley at Sixways ? And what would it cost? Who's paying for all of the upkeep of the place now? A couple of hundred watching Raiders won't cover it. Don't forget, the expense of playing at Kiddy and Bromsgrove nearly sank our club. Awful as Claines is, currently it is our best option. Good luck to Raiders,as long as they finish 2nd in the league, one place below us.
