Well. Jekyll and Hyde Worcester City, brought their good side out today. 1-0 flattered Lichfield and a great battling performance gave us the fair result. Att 346 was a little disappointing, but not really unexpected.

Made my annual visit today. Very pleased with result. City deserved winners but in truth there was plenty of perspiration and little inspiration from either side on a very dry and consequently bobbly pitch, Without forming a judgement on just one showing our defence looked all at sea but battled throughout and prevented hitherto unbeaten (in the MFPL) Lichfield from having much in the way of clear chances although our goalie didn’t fill me with much confidence. Lichfield looked rather jaded from their exertions against Boston United last weekend and lacked potency up front. I thought our skipper was easily the best player on the pitch and did a magnificent box to box job and was unlucky not to score in the first half with a very brave header. We created plenty of good positions going forward but failed to find the right pass all too often to create good goal scoring opportunities. Can’t fault the lads for effort and I thought we could and maybe should have had two or possibly three penalties in the first half ..one for a clear push and the other for an obvious hand ball. Let’s hope we get a decent draw in the first round proper to be drawn on Monday. Presumably the fact that it was an all pay game led to the rather modest attendance.
