Win achieved with a late goal in what was a scrappy game played on a bumpy surface in windy conditions under glorious sunshine. Both sides fought hard throughout. But the spark from mid season was not quite there for City. City enjoyed a fair amount of possession but chances were few and far between.
Just as it looked as though City were going to have to settle for a draw a long ball forward evaded two Warwick defenders and Brown ran through from half way and finished well in what may have been the second effort on target.
City's first appeared to be deflected by a defender with the shot appearing to go wide from where I was standing. The visitors replied shortly before half time with an effort City would have been disappointed with. The forward lost control on the edge of the box under a City challenge but a supporting attacker struck the ball home from outside the box which evaded defenders and goalkeeper.
The only other effort of note came in the second half from the visitors with a well hit shot from distance that went just past the post with the keeper rooted to the spot.
For City the effort was there, everyone contributed without any standout performer.

We are a shadow of the team we were before Christmas. Tim has a lot of thinking to do. Well done everyone on the collection today. Fantastic.
