A poor game on a poor pitch with a poor ref ! Apart from that and losing 2-0, it was great !
Manager Tim Harris has done a good job this season, but got it badly wrong with his team selection today. Out were Debar, Gibbons, Muirhead, and Taylor Randle, and in came Curtis Smith, Fortune Maphosa, Dan Westwood and George Baker.
Smith in at right back looked lightweight and out of his depth to be honest, had a torrid first half, and was hauled off at half time when Debar was brought on. Debar was stronger in defence, and supported Bailey Fuller giving him more space. Westwood in for Gibbons had a shocker. He can finish but he needs someone to play off as he's not a 9 and the focus of the attack. He couldn't hold it up, didn't win a header, and hasn't got the pace to run the channels and get in behind, which Gibbons can do. Maphosa coming in allowed Roberts to move into midfield, whilst George Baker looked lightweight and yards off the pace on his return.
Boldmere deserved to win as they played with a lot more purpose when in possession, and we were never really in it. They were very savvy with the ref, realising that he would blow for anything, and they fell over more times than Norman Wisdom, and he bought most of them, blowing up and stopping play time after time frustrating the City players.
Sam Hall was steady at the back, Debar did well after coming on, and Bailey Fuller looked dangerous with the limited opportunities he had. Other than that, the only good thing was an excellent crowd of 520.
