Dear all, being a Tamworth, i have put details for you that are coming early and want to have a drink or a bite to eat before the game
If anyone is coming on the train, in the car or staying over the night then here is a basic pub guide and food guide.
Have a safe trip down.
Pub and grub at the Lamb, Tamworth.
At the ground- there is a food van for the away end and has got a good reputation for being probably the best food outside the Football League and we do the usual burgers, hot dogs etc but we also have pork and stuffing cobs and a variety of pies.
If the game isnt segregated then away fans will be allowed to use the clubhouse, a typical clubhouse which does 1 real ale each week aswell as Carlsberg, Worthingtons, Guiness and some bottled beers.
Pubs near the station.
If you dont want to walk that far from the station to the first pub then head straight accross the roundabout outside the station and you will see the Tweedale Arms, a nice pub with a beer garden no open at the back from the smokers. As far as im aware they don't do real ale but there is plenty of the usual stuff.
Or head right at the Tweedale and go in the Albert Hotel, a selection of ales which change from week to week plus the usual lager, has got a pool room at the back and a beer garden just outside the front door, is a bit pricey.
In town.
If you walk straight past the Tweedale Arms down that road all the way into town you will have a selection of pubs.
Wetherspoons- walk past the bus station and do a left before hitting the market square and its the bottom building on the left (Bolebridge)- a typical wetherspoons, yet again a beer garden out the back with several ales and foreign lagers on offer.
Cloud 10- if you are staying over then you may decide to go here. Basically to simplify it, its loads of girls getting there hamster out. Its all good but expensive.
Yates- do a right at the bus station and about 50 yards on the right hand side. No beer garden here but a relaxing atmosphre on the day time and if staying over is a good destination on a night time. Can be quite expensive here though.
Old Stone Cross- opposite Yates- never been in but has got a pool table apparently but no ale if I remember correctly.
Robert Peel- carry on past Yates (Lower Gungate) and there is a small looking building on the left hand side, plenty of real ale and many TFC fans go in there before and after games. Highly recommended.
Or if you want to go further into town then turn left at Yates with Co-Op on your left and carry on through the market square and down Church Street. On this street there is Chicago Rock, Bonds Bar, Tavern and The Whie Lion and Bullit.
There is loads of food outlets in town, the usual Maccies, Subway and loads of pubs serve food
OR DONT FORGET THE BEER FESTIVAL IS ON THIS WEEKEND, LOCATED IN THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS WHICH IS LOCATED ON CORPORATION ST
