Does anybody on here know why the Coventry United game is being played behind closed doors tonight?

Quote from the Worcester News Despite fans being allowed into most non-league matches below National North and South level, the elite status of three of the teams playing from United’s Butts Park Arena base has meant the gates have remained closed.
I am not sure who the 'elite' teams are. I think one may be a RFU team based in Coventry.

I see that we have been drawn away to this team in the extra-preliminary round, due to be played August 7th. If memory serves me right there are no replays in the qualifying rounds and presumably, if level at 90 minutes, the game goes to extra-time and then the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Or does it go straight to penalties at 90 minutes? Anybody know for sure?

They had cancelled them last season because of covid, but I wasn’t aware that was a permanent change.

According to a message I received via Facebook or Twitter there will be no replays in either the FA Vase or FA Trophy: not sure about the FA Cup.

Tim - don't believe everything you read on Twitter and Facebook - a lot of it is Fake news (as Trump would say!). If City draw with Cov Utd, the reply (I'm told) will be at Claines Lane on Wednesday 11th.

Not the start to the season we were hoping for
Our defending was dire at times, and too often we were second to the ball and appeared lackadaisical.
Got better second half when Birch and English came on. But you still had the feeling Coventry could step up a gear at will.
Here’s hoping that game was one big blip….

An awful start with our back line being exposed for lack of pace and very poor defending. There was a point in the match towards the end of the first half when had we scored we could have got back in the game but we were unable to finish and we posed little threat up front for the majority of the game. On the positive side I saw lots of hard work and effort but it was always an uphill struggle. I know it’s the first game and Coventry United are a good competitive side but there’s much for Tim Harris to think about if we are to get off to a good start in the league.

We were outclassed from start to finish. Poor team selection, poor tactics. It was an accident waiting to happen. We know Coventry are a good step 5 side but they looked way better than us. The reason we improved in the second half was because Coventry took their foot off the gas at 4-0 up.
Tim Harris has a lot to think about on the basis of this result, both in terms of his team's performance and his own management.
None of the new players look like an improvement on what we had last season. Debar and Douglas were so poor they were withdrawn after 45 minutes and replaced by two better players.
Our first two league matches are at home. We need to get off to a strong start if we're to have any chance of winning the MFL. Anything less than 6 points would be unacceptable in my opinion.
