I know nothing about football finance so I am not posing the question when I already think I know the answer. After the recent years of chaos at City is there actually one advantage to the club currently being at just-above-pub-league standard which is that clubs playing at the level where we think we should be are losing serious money during lockdown whereas City's lost revenues are low (as well as low wages costs?) A bit like that short-track speed-skater at the 2002 Olympics who was in last place on the final bend but won gold because everyone else crashed. Will City be skint but solvent while a lot of teams higher up will be on the brink of bankruptcy?

I put this on another thread few weeks back and have said to a number of people, the current situation financially has been ok for the Club.
No wages paid since the week after our last game apart from some on contract, even one of those refused to be paid.
Contracts are now all over as of first weekend of May, new contracts agreed will only begin getting paid following the start of the season.
We have saved X amount of rent at VG for the games. Others will still have no doubt been paying rent if that is what they do
We have no groundworks that many other clubs will have to be forking out on.
Training venues all cancelled so further money saved.
The only downside for the Club and with next season in mind is that the FA said they wouldn't now introduce the new league and the centralisation of leagues wouldn't take place, so this means we still have the travelling costs to Heather, Newark, Long Eaton, Selston and Gresley (obviously South Normanton would have been another prior to their resignation), i was looking forward to having less travelling and reduced costs

What happened to South Normanton? They resigned from the Midlands League. Last I heard (6 weeks ago), they were aiming to field a side for the Central Midlands League for next season.

There is certainly an advantage of being at pub league level, in so much as the outgoings have been pared back to a minimum now, and the amount the club loses every week whilst there is no action is so much less than it would have been at a higher level. It is a real problem for clubs with large contractual outgoings, such as players contracts, ground costs, lost income from non-football activities. I can only imagine the issues at Sixways, or at New Road.

Has there been any discussion at league level regarding what will happen if social distancing and bans on mass gatherings are still in place for the start of next season? - would it make much of a difference at this level anyway - with the tiny crowds most clubs get?
