Last game of the decade started well and by half time we were totally in control against a Highgate team lacking all their higher earners after their money man pulled out. 2-0 up thanks to two quality Dimi finishes, but then it all went a bit pear shaped in the second half. Highgate dominated the second half and pulled one back on 86 then got the point they probably warranted in stoppage time, and had a chance to win it. To make matters worse, Rowey saw red when that vile 7 (who should already have gone himself) conned the ref, and will now miss the Cov Utd Vase game. Feels like a defeat rather than a draw. Glad we don’t have to play this lot again this season.

I used to think the same thing about Highgate (Don't want to play them again) but they make our level interesting. I like our games against them. Be really boring without them.
I didn't go to Highgate. What was the pitch like? Was it another "pub pitch"?
That pub pitch comment on the radio a few weeks ago from Steve made me laugh...because if you think about it every team in our league would have a nice pitch to play on like we do, if they were losing thousands each season like we do. But they don't because they aren't.
Rowe is a big loss for the season defining fav game. Looking forward to it already. Hopefully a few casual / lapsed fans will come back for that one.

City looked comfortable at half time going in 2=0 up with two well taken goals from MOM Dimitri Brown and looked on track for a away victory. A Highgate side missing a number of key players took the game to City , and when Brown was subbed we lost the threat up front and the ball kept coming back to a retreating midfield and a defence that was struggling to do the basics .Anyone who was their could see that Highgate would get something out of the game and got two goals in the last five minutes and nearly got winner. We have now conceded eight goals in the last three away league games, so its something our management duo need to address , hopefully the return of centre back Joe Hawkins will improve our defence, who has not played since the Malvern game on 28th October. Luke Rowe let down himself and his team mates with a wild challenge which earned him a red car and a three match. Overall a two points dropped and missed a chance to make up ground on leaders Coventry United , the main worry was how our midfield went AWOL and stopped passing the ball and keeping possession in the second half and the defence could not clear its lines. We are currently in tenth position in the league and nine points behind the league leaders, so if we can keep a run together we will soon move up the table and still in the last 32 in the FA Vase . Happy New Year to all at Worcester City FC and all its supporters.

I have seen an allegation on social media that a spectator was verbally abused by a group of 4 City "fans" at the game. Is this true? Did anyone here witness what happened?

I wasn't there so cannot confirm or deny. But for Gods sake - this is City vs. Highgate. When they came to us their 'fans' stood in front of the stand where our most vociferous supporters were gathered. They are entitled to stand where they like but I did wonder why? At half time, did they move to 'their' end? No - they stood there in order to have a vocal barney with our supporters. When one of their 'fans' started "f-ing" I asked him to stop as there were woman and kids about. "For f.... sake it's a f...ing football match" was the reply. So was I verbally abused by a Highgate fan? Probably. Am I going to make an issue of it? No. Why? - because I've got a life and there's bigger things to get upset about. Don't try and make a big deal of this.

At least promotion would ensure we never need to encounter their sort again.
Apparently their club twitter account supports behaving like Neanderthals.

Have disliked Highgate ever since playing at this level: gobby is my description. You have to remember we were playing our second game in 72 hours, whereas they didn't have a game on the Boxing Day.

The only spectator I heard getting any grief was the lino on the al fresco side in the second half, and you couldn't really call him a spectator as he wasn't watching the game very closely.
At half time a few of us had a good chat with a "neutral football fan" who made it clear he was nothing to do with Highgate, and he was friendly and sympathised with our predicament. Would be disappointed if this was the same guy, and let's face it there weren't exactly many there who weren't City.

Edit - The guy talking about ‘racist’ City fans is the Commercial Manager for Romulus. Professionalism be damned.

Just looked at his twitter pic - it was him. Turns out to be a mate of the Highgate keeper. Some neutral. If I didn't know better it was a bit of a s*** stir.

Thank you. Some research shows that he used to play for Boldmere, where the Highgate keeper was one of his teammates.

So it was the bloke we were talking to at half time who said he was a neutral? That convo was about how we are doing, moving back to Worcester, the set up at Boldmere where he played etc! He went back into the bar when we went in for the 2nd half and I can't imagine anyone giving out grief to him or anyone else?
