Another excellent team performance saw Lye easily brushed aside. Continuing on from Saturday, City bossed the game from the start in a dominant display. All the midfield players were very good, again moving the ball quickly and with purpose. Luke Rowe has really made the big difference, freeing up Lockettt in the final third, whilst Mewies has improved immensely from his initial performances. City were disciplined throughout the team with few rash challenges and very sensible decision making. The team played with total confidence from start to finish. Another very good effort from all.

Could get used to this! You can see the confidence growing, the passes are crisper, they're all that little bit more determined to win the ball, want the ball at their feet and to make those runs. What a difference a couple of results makes to everyone. Some more stand out displays again tonight, Luke Rowe really is a good footballer. Does the simple things well, with composure and no fuss. Man of the match for me tonight though was Kurtis Mewies, who has suddenly started looking like a fine acquisition, adding skill and effectiveness to his determination. I don't mind eating my words at all. Keep it up boys!

It all just seems a little bit... more.
The defence looks better drilled and quicker to close down their markers, the midfield is working wonders, Luke Rowe was always going to be a good signing, and is showing just how much of one after just 2 games! Mewies is making a lot of people eat their own words, Lockett is looking like a much improved player - last season it'd be fair to say he looked talented if raw, but a year on he's looking so much more ready for mens football, and should be playing higher than this level. Brain and Brown up front seem to have gelled, working out each others game more than before. Lets not of course forget the current support cast, who have undoubtedly put on some good performances fromthe bench too. Willis, Adaggio, Harrison all with goals in the last 2 games off the bench.
Credit to Ash and his team, he's managed to find a sweetspot recently. Lets hope it continues! Up the City!

No no, it has always been there, maybe dropped off when we lost Birchy, but it has always been there.
If you look at every game this season, weve had a boat load of chances but not been clinical, thats the difference, we are being clinical now.
Plus, the moans and groans and getting on peoples backs has stopped, little positivity always helps.

I missed Saturday, but was determined to brave the cold (cough and sore throat notwithstanding) and was mightily impressed by the work-rate, which seems to have stepped up 100%.
The confidence is just oozing out everywhere: long may it continue!
How much longer can we hang on to Liam Lockett? His second (wonder) goal was a cracker; plus - as said above - the arrival of Luke Rowe, has freed him up and taken some of the weight off Chris Withington's shoulders too.
The real test will come when we play Shepshed in the FA Vase on December 1st.

If you look at every game this season, weve had a boat load of chances but not been clinical, thats the difference, we are being clinical now. Plus, the moans and groans and getting on peoples backs has stopped, little positivity always helps. It hasn't, though, apart from occasional short patches in games and odd flashes of quality. Too often it's been a case of misplaced passes and no finishing, plus very porous at the back, particularly against anything played quickly into the channels. Flattered to deceive several times. The difference isn't merely a case of being more clinical, it's about partnerships developing and a few little tweaks to roles. Jonah is now looking first and foremost to hit a big ball quickly, usually to Locko for him to either run with or play Brainer or Dimi in early. The real change though is in the centre, Whitto's found that extra gear again, Kurtis has started looking like a player from a higher level and Rowey is keeping it all moving with simplicity and efficiency, giving Locko the platform to destroy. It's been simplified in terms of tactics but massively improved in terms of effectiveness, a few player instruction tweaks and a couple of key personnel changes.

Plus, the moans and groans and getting on peoples backs has stopped, little positivity always helps. I think the moans have stopped because the football has improved (15 goals). The football didn't improve because the moaning stopped. To be honest, with what the fans have been watching the last twelve months up to this week I think they have been pretty good.
