Another poor day. Couldn't blame the weather for the number of unsuccessful passes. Gilder managed to pass to their keeper almost every time. Another unnecessary penalty given away. Boldmere's second goal was ridiculous.
Att 241. Not sure if 6 Nations had anything to do with this, but the last few home games could see similar gates.

Didn't think it was as bad a showing today, and with a little more luck could have had at least one point. Ref was as bad as we've had all season. Missed a stonewall penalty for them and then gave one a minute later for an entirely clean tackle a yard outside the box! Great finish from Witto for the equaliser, but a ridiculous winner. Felt gutted for Sam as the ball suddenly got picked up on the wind, actually lifted a couple of feet in the air before conveniently finding top bins. From where I was sat you could actually see it lift, no blame on Sam Gilder at all who had actually judged it properly before it lifted. Thought Witto was our best player again today, but Jordan Harrison worked his socks off for no reward and Special K did some really good stuff. Referee demonstrated he has zero football understanding, card happy on a day when control was tricky in the conditions. Never a red card, Gayle has collided with Witto rather than intentionally fouling him, hope they appeal as it was just plain wrong.

Completely agree about the ref. I think he was shocked at the way Witto went upside down after the challenge. He was more interested at showing his authority to both managers/assistant managers.
The work rate is there, the passing is seriously lacking.
On the radio afterwards, Goode was saying Ash and Snapper are planning for next season with their eyes on a few players.

If the player budget stays the same then new recruits will be the same standard as this season. Last 10 games have yielded 10 points against a lot of bang average teams who were more athletic and fitter. A question for the management team what plans are made for set pieces and corners?

Contrary to what Snapper said post-match, I thought the incident that led to their first goal was a clear penalty.
Their winner was a goalkeeper error, but clearly the conditions made it more difficult for the team defending the far end. However, one team was smart enough to take advantage of the conditions, the other wasn't.
I also thought the performance was little better than last week. I don't recall us having a single shot on target during the time we had four strikers on the pitch and a man advantage.
It's now 6 defeats in 7 games, or 7 in 8 including the RAF friendly. This is as bad as two seasons ago when we were relegated. There's little evidence to suggest that lessons are being learned or that we're building for next season.

Our persistence with short corners is baffling. Even after all this time we still make a mess of them.

The keeper had a shocker on the goal and needs to be dropped now and he can take the keeper coach with him as well seeing as he clearly doesn’t want to be here next season! Snapper why do you persist with 1 striker up top? ?? Time you went as well fella

Got a bit of an obsession with the keeper coach, not sure why.
Gliders made one mistake. De Gea made a mistake the other week, unfortunately when keepers do it's in the net and everyone blames them

Do we need a goalkeeper coach with only 2 keepers Sam and Sean Dayus as Gwynne has joined the long list of the disappeared along with Balders.

Up until the Long Eaton match at home, I'd gone to all the home games and some away. However the Long Eaton match where we played one up front, passed slowly sideways, and rarely got bodies in the box made me think why was I going to watch, so I've not bothered going to the Romulus and Boldmere games. I read that we started with one up front again yesterday with the same result. Why do Snape and Vincent persist with this same 4-2-3-1 tactics game after game when on bobbly winter pitches it plainly doesn't work ? I know that we scored 5 at Quorn, but that was on a flat 3G pitch, where you get no bobbles and no proper tackling.
To the end of October, our League record was P 15 W 8 D4 L3 November to date on wintry pitches it's P 16 W 4 D 4 L 8
of those post Nov wins, 3 have been away from home. It's hardly rocket science that our tactics just don't work, playing one up front with a 5 man non scoring midfield, and opponents with nothing other than hard graft to offer, find us a soft touch, and easy to defend against as we crawl up the pitch. The football is the worst I've seen in over 40 years watching, with the self imploding tactics just adding to our demise.

I do agree that, as a supporter, I can see no value whatsoever to the way we are set up for home games. It's not producing results, it's not producing entertainment, there in no incentive for supporters or casual visitors to come and watch what is on offer.

Why do Snape and Vincent persist with this same 4-2-3-1 tactics game after game At Quorn it was 3-4-1-2 (or that was how I saw it, certainly a back three), same shape against Romulus. Back to 4-2-3-1 on Saturday. Whatever the criticisms may be, I don't agree that they go with a rigid system. The shape played has changed a fair bit this season.

It's not producing results, it's not producing entertainment, there in no incentive for supporters or casual visitors to come and watch what is on offer. It's really hard to get motivated for games at the moment. This season has been the least enjoyable one (on the pitch) by a a mile.
& as for this from the Romulus game....
John Snape’s right-hand man sat next to the supporter for a minute or so midway through the second half in what appeared to be an amicable conversation.
...well there wasn't much complaining this week against Boldmere - those seats were all empty.
Top priority is getting Reyno back for next season, it will give a target man / person to hold up the ball & bring the midfield into play.

No mileage in bringing back a 30+ year old who turned down the chance to come back recently. James Lemon is the answer as the goalscoring striker. Just needs a run of games, I'd like to see him playing in tandem with Batesy as I think their runs and awareness will complement each other.
What it needs is someone to boss the midfield and give the playmakers the chance to play. Last season we had Nathan Hayward and Brad Birch bossing it for most games, gave us the platform to get on the front foot. This season we've not had that platform. No lack of endeavour and enthisiasm, but a lack of experience and nous. Special K could be that player but he's the softest shithouse I've ever seen, needs to develop that steely streak to go with the undoubted technical quality.
This is a good bunch of lads with loads of promise and potential, all they need is an old head amongst them in the centre of the park to guide them through games. Andy Gallinagh has been sorely missed.

No doubt he smashed him, just thought it was badly timed and unintentional contact rather than malicious. Cameron Gayle's not that sort of player.

No point in trying to bring back Reynolds who'd be off again if someone offered him more money - we can't match what he's getting at Malvern as it is. No problem with Lemon and Bates starting, both of whom want to play for us, won't cost a lot, and who may well complement each other. However, as they have both played , been dropped, played, been dropped all season, I just think that Snape and Vincent don't fancy them at all. Besides which it would mean that we would have to play 2 up front, which might mean at least 2 players in the box ! A simple, readily understood by all 4-4-2 seems to be beyond the manager's thinking, as we persist with our plainly unsuccessful playstation formations.
