With Tyler gone, and I think Harrison is suspended ( ? ), it gives us a chance to change the team a little. I'd like to see Riley Keasey back in at right back, as he showed up well at the end of last season. As we're away, 4-4-1-1 is fine ! So, injuries permitting.......
Jezeph
Keasey, English , Stoddart, Smith
Withington, Caines, Forsyth, Willis,
Birley
Turton
Nothing but a win will do.

I’d definitely play Fishwick over stodds, he’s not been at the races for a while now.

I just hope we don't get complacent following our 4-1 win there the other evening (they did beat Ilkeston 3-1 last night).

Cut and shut is pretty lucrative!

The official attendance for this game was 58, which I believe is the lowest on record for a City first team fixture. There may have been lower crowds in the distant past, but sadly this is a reflection of the level at which we now ply our trade.

Very tough game coming up. Surprised to see both Sam Oji and Aaron Brown at the back for them - they won't lack physicality. Watched the Ilkeston match highlights, notable for a dreadful Ilkeston challenge and some earthy non league language !

Watched the Ilkeston match highlights, notable for a dreadful Ilkeston challenge and some earthy non league language ! You missed the recent league cup game then. Awful challenge by Batchelor on English, if that had been any ground but theirs it was a red card. Big strong and physical side, no change from last year.

Lost 3-2 and now drop to sixth in the table. Eight points behind Ilkeston if we were to win our game in hand, otherwise 11 points.

well that was a crap way to loose a game, so many crap balls from the back & a keeper who seemed to want to be in midfield, we seemed to not want to win that game, & defending cornes is getting worse, a team with decent forwards would have made us pay dearly today, could have been alot worse.

Turton not good enough, don't even look threatening with him constantly fouling up front. We need another striker desperately - what does Evans have to do to get a fair crack?
First half we were lucky to come in 0-0, Highgate wasted a couple of really good chances. That aside though we played the better football (albeit not he conditions to play how we did), not helped by opposition who just wanted to kick people and an overly biased referee. On which note what happened after the game? Heard he went for some Worcester fans?

Not good despite going ahead with a peach of a goal from Luke English and then losing concentration to concede straight away. Too many long balls from the back, the distribution from defence too often losing possession. Defence no longer look as solid as earlier in the season. Lots of effort maybe but very little quality. Fear we are now beginning to look an average side for this league now our more talented players have peeled away to higher league teams.

Out battled and out tackled from start to finish. Once the winter pitches start getting bobbly ( same story as last season ), our football is ineffective against physical opposition. We pass sideways and sideways again and again with no forward penetration. Poor first touch or a misplaced pass, and the second touch is a 50/50 which we invariably lost. We gave the ball away far too easily time after time after time. As our midfield can't pass forward more than 15 yards, we resorted to long balls from the back to their defenders Batchelor, Brown and Oji who are all 6 ft plus, who won every header. Whilst Turton tried hard, he was on his own with no one else near him. There's no pace or directness in our attacking at all. Birley hasn't the legs to get near Turton, Baldwin flattered to deceive once again, Lockett was just too lightweight, and Caines and Withington are both defensive midfielders. The fact that our right back scored both goals tells the story. We had very few shots other than the goals whilst Highgate missed a couple of sitters in the first half, so the scoreline flattered us. Whilst the ref should have sent their player off, he didn't cost us the game at all - we managed that quite easily ourselves.
We have to play 2 up front, preferably Harrison and Evans, and Forsyth our most creative player has to play in midfield. We have to increase the speed and tempo of our attacking. Plan A week after week just isn't good enough, as the results and performances are showing.

Three defeats and a draw in our last five games is a pretty poor return. If the team have been looking to regroup, learn lessons and move on after each of those four games, they've not succeeded. I hope they also realise it's a big disappointment for the fans who come and watch them. Sorry to say it but it seems like we're not good enough to even finish in the top three in the MFL.

You're right jupu. It is a big disappointment. We finished 4th last season, and I can't see us beating that this season I'm afraid. Painfully slow build up play, and who's going to score the goals ?
