So, today sees the beginning of a new season and a new era. Hopefully it's now acceptable to support "the lads" and it would be great to see City fans turning out in strength today to show support for Steve and the new regime.
I haven't been to any pre-season games so I don't know what to expect, but as much as anything I hope it's an entertaining afternoon in the sunshine, surrounded by familiar faces, all with a new optimism that will grow over the coming weeks. Boldmere is a lovely venue and I'm looking forward to it.

Yes a great start to the new season with Steve and the new board in place. Boldmere will be a good test for the lads, and perhaps give an indication of what's ahead for the rest of the term

Won’t be there today as am abroad - but will try to get to as many games as I can this season

It was incredibly hot today and playing on an artificial surface with a whole host of new players I think hard to read much into the result. To me it felt like a game between a team with plenty of experience in the MFL and a group of players who are still learning. With Forsyth, Weir, Burley and Turton missing we were certainly lacking something. We need someone who can take control in midfield for sure. But it's only the first game.

Ridiculously hot, on a stinking pitch (burnt rubber is never pleasant), and it started well enough but some critical errors, a lack of communication between keeper and defenders, and the greater experience of Boldmere saw them nick it in the last minute. As always, there were contentious bits, such as the decision not to award a pen and show a red after the assault on Jordan Harrison, but City can only have themselves to blame for this defeat. The game was crying out for someone to impose themselves on the midfield, but there was no Nathan Hayward anymore, and with Foz out with a knee injury it was going to be a tough ask for the youngsters. Boldmere were big and strong, we outpassed them but didn't take the chances when they arose (should have been 6 up at half time) and the home side's directness saw them home. We go again on Monday.
